I'm not that far into it. So far, I'm enjoying myself. There are plenty of glitches, weird geometry interactions, and the writing is pretty terrible at times. Particularly when they try to make the squadmates lovable and snarky, it just comes across as someone trying too hard. And I'm appalled by how often the squadmate's dialogue consists of them describing their own personalities rather than demonstrating them. Some of the reasoning for them joining the crew also seems kinda weak, particularly in the case of Drack, who 'heard' that we were responsible for fixing Eos (How? We literally just left the vault and the only person who would know not in the squad was Peebee, and she immediately shot off in a shuttle) and just decided to join up with little explanation. That being said, I am enjoying the game and despite myself the squad is starting to grow on me. So I guess I'm still happy with my purchase. Me too. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? It takes me out of the experience IMMEDIATELY. It is like a cardinal writing SIN. Bioware deserves all the wishy-washy opinions being spread on its writing in MEA. There's great stuff, there's good stuff, there's the typical Bioware cheese that we understand because this is ultimately silly game stuff, but now for the first time (whatever smudboy), there's BAD writing present. IMO.

I'm loving the game, and hating all of the entitled little crybabies whining about how "ugly" all the women are, the review scores, the character creator, graphic bugs, and how BioWare caved to SJWs. None of which has effected my enjoyment of a game. They can all shut up and FUCK OFF!

The one example I have seen of that sort of thing so far I felt was fairly good writing for Vetra. In my experience, as someone who does write, sometimes writers have to both show and tell to get their message across. The example of course is the Vetra introduction, she introduces herself...lists a general list of her attributes...perfectly normal way for people to introduce themselves especially when they are in a hurry....and then she proceeds to demonstrate most of the very qualities she just described herself as possessing in how she handled Addison's 'lackey' while also demonstrating several other aspects important to her character (like compassion) Anyways, onto my brief initial impressions of the first about 2 and a half hours of the game. The good: The game is actually off to a much better start then Dragon Age Inquisition. And as many people know I really loved that game so I am curious to see if it will maintain its forward momentum. Speaking about Dragon Age Inquisition though the story of this game is off to a pretty good start. I know the Inquisition was supposed to be on hard times what with the terrorist attack and everything but it never really felt like it. You can feel the tension, the drama, and the events that proceeded your arrival in Andromeda in the environment and the way the characters behave. The controller layout is actually pretty good. Given that BioWare took a little heat over this in ME 3 and given that this was maybe a little bit of a concern, but...it actually really works. It might take a little while getting used to it but I think it will be just fine in the end. (Its been a while since I have sprinted via pressing the analog stick in). I have defended the CC, and I still do...I really like it. But ironically enough I stil ran into some of the same issues as I have in the past. But here is my Fem Ryder for comparison: Crafting looks good... The game is emotionally engaging so far... And I am loving the dialog system so far. I think I was trying to paint my Ryder into a corner at first but I have gotten over it. Bonus points for Dr. Lexi's psych profile. The bad: I hate piling onto a dead horse...but the facial animations. Granted for the most part I am finding them ok and not the freak show that most people seem to think they are...but there was one notable example where Cassandra tried to frown and smile at the same time. I don't know what it is about me and characters who seem to cnstantly frown... Though as a side note about the character animations I had this theory about them, and that theory has been proven to be correct. A lot of people have complained about how some of the animations make it look like Ryder is in tremendous pain (you know the one) but when you play the game and get to the part...guess what?...RYDER IS IN A LOT OF FUCKING PAIN. I feel like the combat is boring so far, but I do that with the caveat of A. I think I am still trying to play it like the trilogy and B. I still have to get used to the controls. The map/ compass is a mess. Again something I MAY get used to but on this one I am not holding out much hope. But on the bright side have not run into a single noticable bug. The curious: Again think I will have to get used to the controls over all. The crafting system is pretty good so far. Just, bit confused on the whole blue prints things. Maybe I will try and ask this somewhere else but...you have to research blue prints right? But then I have heard if you buy said blue prints or procure them then you can skip this and go directly to 'development'...which is true, or at leas the evidence is there so far. But then...how do you get new blueprints to research? All the characters and the character writing is solid so far. But I will need more time to get to know them. I especially liked that first conversation with a certain Salarian politician. So...I think that will do it for now. I will update everyone again when I hit about the ten hour mark.
