The Quarian Ark is really going to introduce a lot of potential problems for the Initiative.
Given the ark left possibly DURING the Reaper Invasion, there will be no way to hide this from the people. This kind of general knowledge could potentially cause a LOT of fear and division. If the various races begin to believe there is a real possibility that they remain the only survivors of their respective races, there could be an increased focus on preserving their individual cultures.
Another thing to consider is that the Turians, Salarians and Asari still don't have their colony world. Humanity got theirs because their Ark was stolen and crashed on Meridian, but this landing introduces another tension point. Meridian is key to terraforming the planets in Heleus and becomes the centre of colonization. A Cerberus group could totally exploit that. This could lead to increasing tensions between various groups.
There was some other decisions I think could play out that were small at the time but could have an impact like deciding whether kids will be taught Milky Way History.
Then you have that independent nation on Eos which could factor in down the road.
So many threads, so many potential conflicts, such an amazing foundation for the future.

I wouldn't be surprised if all 5 confirmed races on the quarian ark end up being woken up and running around the place. Afterall, Bioware wouldn't pass up the chance to have them all as MP characters that people will spend money to try and attain.

I don't think they will be making it into a point to hide the fact about the Reaper war from Initiative citizens. While horrific, in the end it IS a historic fact at this stage, one way or another. I say they will restablish contact in DLC/sequel and simply roll with "yes, there was uber war but that was 600 years ago and lots changed since then in Milky Way" public announcement.

By having the Quarian Ark teased during the epilogue it makes me think that it will be post game DLC like Trespasser was, so it might be the last piece of DLC released for MEA.

There's beacons to the Milky Way Galaxy which aren't resounding. I really want Bioware to pick a canon ending or Deus Ex-it and have all of the endings canon. It would be cool, though, if an invading force of 600+ year Synthesis cyborgs arrive. Then you have to fight them.

With creative writing they could find a way to make the green/red/blue endings viable. It'd require some changes to different races, but they could do it. I think they're afraid to.

All endings and most interpretations are viable with enough time passing. Which there now is. For EXAMPLE:
*I'll be using 'machines' instead of 'Reapers' because I very much do not want people's perceptions to be stuck onto that label
Destroy - Galaxy rebuilds and advances, uses rebuilt machines for something that brings harm, we see problematic result Control - Galaxy fixes and sustains, systems of machine management destabilizes, we see problematic result Synthesis - Galaxy transcends and transforms, ends up crashing but retaining some of past, we see problematic result
Or even more crazy (if you will):
Literal - A Reaper War happened and it was won and with at least the general results that we see in ME3 ending, but details lost in time Indoctrination - Something strange was up with Shepard but it could range just from being affected by Reaper signals in the end to something much more, but details were lost in time Other - Tech that we're learning more about in the Andromeda arc was in play so we couldn't understand ME3 in 'proper context' but now we can start to, but details were lost in time =All three in play and we just learn as we go (and as time passes, people's particular attachment to views loses grip and we move on with our lives)
-As time goes on and Bioware gauges responses to things, they can tweak what info about the Reaper War and its aftermath they will let out. -MEA was a fresh start but unlike some insistence here, it was not a clean break entirely, as it seemed comfortable with ME2 and especially ME1 status playing a part in things -DLC may (or may not, we'll see) start seeing more comfort with ME2 status and start to bring in ME3 status, even if maybe not necessarily the endings and after endings (so the Quarian ark leaving during the invasion?) -Future games might address more, especially if we notice even more teases in MEA DLC
You can ignore the IT part if you wish. Main point is that stuff like Destroy, Control, Synthesis do not necessarily mean that the immediately shown results of them are what will always be in play for centuries. Even Refuse (unless treated as like a ME2 Shep Dies ending, which I'd understand if Bioware wanted to do that) could be twisted around into something that'd provide results, even if was super weird. Like, I dunno, clone society or whatever (though that'd make the alternate stargazer scene weird, but maybe okay if I add in more context).
The easy world I can imagine is a Milky Way galaxy that has more synthetic technology involved. Whether its brought on through later conflict with synthetics (and therefore turning to a form of 'Reaper tech'), or from existing in a cooperation with 'Reapers', or having merged with 'Reapers'. If there's concerns of too much of a technological gap, its not like the writers can't add in context like a Destroy world staying down from higher greatness, a Control society being managed away from higher greatness, a Synthesis system having reached higher greatness too soon and suffering for it, and maybe a Refuse galaxy having some weird stuff happening (again, clones or seeded worlds or WHATEVER) to just barely have enough happen to fit the story Bioware wants to tell.
With a more synthetic Milky Way, that could come into interaction with an Andromeda that has went its own way with this, or even with an added organic advancement (if we look at the kett and jaardan).

Based on what Alec said in his recordings he said maybe we will tell people some day. It's one thing to leave everything behind and know on a mental level its 600 years ago, its another to realize there is some chance you are the sole remaining members of your entire race and if you fail your species could go extinct. Alec did check communication and got no signal whatsoever. It's possible as a precaution, the satelites or whatever placed between Milky Way and Andromeda were destroyed as a safety percaution during the Reaper War. Also possible they were disabled by the Benefactor or another group. I doubt communication will be re-established until the last game in the Andromeda series.

I always took the whole "not a trilogy" thing to mean there would be no 3 game overarching story ark like we saw in the OT. No big bad enemy with all the story really being about stopping them. Each game would have a story that maybe connect to the previous one, but was also in a way stand alone. I even think time jumps from game to game could be significant, meaning Ryder is not guaranteed to be your hero in all 3 games.

I might differ from a few of you, but I am not particularly interested in seeing any additional games with the Kett as the central antagonist or driver of the plot. I thought the Archon was a cool villain, and I enjoyed the unfolding of the mysteries around the origin of the Kett and Exaltation, but I think we've seen most of what there is to see with them. Perhaps we can wrap up our conflict with them in a DLC pack?
For the DLC that I'd like to see, hopefully it is as follows:
*An expansion focused on the search for the Quarian Ark, and the ramifications of the Reaper War in the Milky Way. Such realizations of the past state of the Milky way could generate unrest on the Nexus as leadership is questioned for what they knew and when. This would also be a great DLC to bring in additional references, illusions, or even a reveal of the Benefactor (unless that is a integral plot point best left for a Sequel).
*An expansion focused on a restoring peace to a colony world inhabited by both the Angara and Humans from the Nexus. The main villain could be a new leader of the Roekaar with possible plans to access Remnant tech to launch an assault on the Nexus/Meridian. Throw in a few new hubs, with side content, vaults to explore, and a planet to restore, and you'd have a pretty solid bit of content.
*An expansion focused on the Kett. A possible narrative could be that Kett infiltrators have infiltrated key systems on the Nexus, and have locked down the station with you and your crew on board. With a new base/hub for your crew to hang out in, Ryder+Crew lead a guerrilla resistance against the Kett to lift the lockdown, request assistance from the Angara and the outposts, and escape. Ultimately the Nexus is brought to the main Kett Flotilla. Sam somehow uses the original Kett lockdown protocols to hack key functions of the fleet, temporarily incapacitating them and allowing Ryder to board the flagship and take down the leader. With this, the Kett are essentially finished, a new hub is opened on the Nexus, with a large set of additional fun activities and conversations to be had ala ME3: Citadel.
In terms of where the Mass Effect series should go in terms of the next game (should we get one, which I think is likely), I'm not entirely sure. I was never a huge fan of taking ME to Andromeda in the first place (I was a huge advocate for a ME Trilogy Interquel set on the Citadel, with the PC as a CSEC agent investigating conspiracy, crime, and what not. I am still a firm believer that such a game would be awesome, and that I'd like to see it happen. Likewise, I even would support a ME Trilogy Sequel (Either ME4 or something called ME: Legacy or something, set after the events of either a retconned set of endings or a cannonized Destroy Ending). But Bioware has invested so much in to crafting a new Galaxy and set of systems, it would all be for naught to just give up on it now. Thus, we are likely to stay in Andromeda. Personally, a Ryder Centric Sequel would be my most preferred option, considering I really liked the Character and I think the role of Pathfinder still leaves so much to explore. Furthermore, there is so much of the "Creators" or Jardaan that needs to be answered. Like why did they begin inventing life in the first place? We're they a Pan-Andromeda species? Do they have any connection to the Reapers or the Leviathans of the Original Trilogy? I think Ryder is the perfect character to explore such topics with. However, I hope we get less SAM involvement and its explained by the ending of Andromeda that SAM's connection has been weakened to the Pathfinder. I don't want SAM to be the perfect problem solver, annoying quest updater, and resource identifier that he was in MEA. Also, smaller worlds with more quality content. I said this after Dragon Age Inquisition, and it definitely seemed like Bioware removed alot of the grind of the Open world, or at least made it more avoidable (Unlike the Power mechanic), and I want to see this trend continued in any future game.

It's their chance to drop them for good and free the space for more relevant to the setting natives. Return elcors only to delegate them to Shakespear parodies again?
- Benefactor. Not sure if it's meant to be solved in a DLC or it's more of a long-term mystery, like Scourge and Remnants.
As for the next game, I'm slightly worried that we already get to choose ambassador to represent Nexus outside Heleus, since I don't think everything is done in Heleus right now. x years later, when Vaults finished their job on terraforming and majority of Kett had to retreat for a time. I want to see Voeld as an ocean, I want to see what Kadara has become, was exiles issue dealt with or their numbers only grow, and how angarans feel about aliens now walking freely on all their former colonies. In other words a story more about internal strife than anything. Not an easy story to pull off, compared to regular world-destroying menace, but I want it regardless.

You can't imagine how much I want this to be so (hear that, Bioware? Moar Ryder adventures!). I wouldn't mind if the game had epic story expansions to continue the main plotline like STO. New missions, new planets to explore, and new stuff tied around your squadmates and how you'll get to know more about them and all of the Ryder family secrets. I'd also like to continue building workable relations between the Milky Way folk and the Angara. I feel like we only scratched the surface of their culture. It'd be interesting to see how they handle their identity now going forward after the knowledge of where they came from.

No matter what storyline DLCs we might get for ME:A, I hope the last storyline DLC will allow us to establish reliable communication with the Milky Way, so that "ME:A 2" allows us to get back there...
I want to see The Citadel (the original actual Citadel!) after those 634+ years. What is the political and social status of all the races after the Reaper War? What are the original ME races up to now? What are their grand goals? I want to learn this. It's such an obvious course for future DLCs and installments, that Bioware should just deliver here.
Hell, get Ryder back to the Milky Way, if you really want to stick with him/her as your new "front page" character for the series for the next years - but get us back to the Milky Way of the future Bioware.

That would be the dumbest thing Bioware could do. If they choose to go back to the Milky Way, then they have to pick ONE cannon option for what the ending of Mass Effect 3 would be- and if you think you knew what fan outrage was then, just wait to now. On top of that, in the 634 or even 1,000+ years, what's going to be new? In any ending of ME3 most species where on the verge of extinction and galactic travel was severely crippled, if not destroyed.. it would take several thousand years to see a galaxy even remotely similar to what we remember and that could support a decent plot, rather than just going back to a galaxy with pockets of rabbles dotting the Milky Way in something that might resemble Firefly's outer worlds where there isn't a lot of terribly interesting thing going on beside petty territory squabbles and basic survival.

Tann states "we must nominate an interim ambassador to represent concerns outside the Nexus" In other words, to represent the Angara and the outposts you have founded.

The Ambassador will represent the rest of Heleus TO the Nexus. I hope the sequel jumps ahead 10 years. SOOOOO much because of exactly what you said. I want to see Voeld, Kadara, Meridian, Aya, after 10 years of work by the terraformers and the colonists. Going back to Eos to see what your first colony looks like after 10 years of building....so amazing. I can remember being asked by a guy who wanted to start a school what he should teach for history, go back to EOS to see that school would be fantastic. So many issues to resolve in Helues (though I suspect that will happen along with exploring outside of Heleus. - What happens with that independent nation on Eos? Your side quest clearly was meant to set something up there. - Kadara could go so many ways depending on your decisions. - Morda and the power core decision - Eladeen decisions means there could or could not be a colony there (I suspect it won't be there regardless in the next one....lol) - What about the Turrians, Salarians and Asari who don't have their own permanent colonies yet? That has got to create tension between them and the humans, especially with the humans controlling to core of the entire Remanent system which makes the planets habitable. Will Meridian focus on building up the colonies you started by helping their weather improve? or will they work to improve worlds for the other races?

I had some thoughts about this
The Quarian Ark and Reapers
What I am thinking the Quarian Ark story should definitely be DLC where we find the ark marooned in Dark Space somewhere on the edge of the of the galaxy. Just as the Q-ARK was about to leave the Reapers attacked. Now the Ark was able to get away but was then pursued by a few Reapers, who we know are able to traverse Dark Space, who latched onto the Ark.
The awake crew then put everyone into stasis as fast as possible but the Reaper forces got inside the Ark. During the time the Arks crew are able to fight off the Reapers forces long enough for Shepard to stop the Reapers but as we know even a dead Reaper is no threat. Before long the awake crew become indoctrinated from being so close to Reaper/s and the Quarian Pathfinder sends a signal out warning people to stay away.
Then the player finds the Q-Ark with the Reaper still attached and fight through indoctrinated and husks until they find a way to dislodge the Reaper and return the Ark to the Nexus but just before we do several more Arks warp in.
(I wont make more details as I want to see if they do do it for the Q-ARK DLC but it would make sense for the Milky way to send more Arks to Andromeda since the Milky Way is a bit of a mess right now and on their end they would assume that they are more established in the galaxy so they can send civilians to Andromeda to live until the Milky Way is back on its feet.)

You have that incorrect. Tann states "we must nominate an interim ambassador to represent concerns outside the Nexus" In other words, to represent the Angara and the outposts you have founded. The Ambassador will represent the rest of Heleus TO the Nexus. But that doesn't make sense. Colonies are part of the Nexus. And making a Pathfinder represent anyone doesn't make more sense either. Yeah, I don't see how they can handle such different outcomes regarding krogans. I'd expect something more of a same in the end. Either Morda flips out and leaves Nexus (again, if you gave the core) or somebody more reasonable replaces her and krogans are back, even if slightly more grumpy if you didn't manage to bring them back in first game. This part was just weird. Everyone just goes on and on about "home of humanity", when nothing stops asari and salarians (and even angara) to settle there as well.

By home of humanity doesn't that just mean it will be majority populated by humans for now? Because no Habitat 7 (yet) and the arks had their issues but Hyperion was better off?
The Initiative is multi-species but that doesn't mean there won't be homeworlds and that Meridian can't be considered more of the home of humanity in the meantime. A rather open door to it, but still their primary home.

- quarian DLC, obviously - one in which we jump through hoops to get the cure for Ellen - one that deals with the Benefactor
Remnant, the ones who shanked them and the broader Kett stories are all sequel material.
