You know, I never really made much use of Celestial Fury.
But MAazy is proving to be an absolute BEAST with it!

Trying to get back into playing the first one. I have both the classic and EE versions. I prefer the EE version cause when at higher resolution the characters don't disappear. I am enjoying the game. I like these old school rpg's. But currently I am at Beregost with Khalid, the druid, the chaotic evil dwarf and mage. My character is a Paladin. I am having trouble killing some spiders in a home in Beregost, that belongs to a person that rooms at the "Friendly Arm Inn."

But if your paladin is a cavalier, I believe he's immune to poison. Also, keep in mind that you have a party of Harpers and Zhents, they WILL kill each other eventually

I forgot to buy potions. I will do that thanks! As for my companions I am waiting for some type of conflict.

Done Neera's companion quest in BG... I was so underwhelmed.... needless to say she got the boot shortly there after. Baeloth has the most amusing intro all the EE NPC's almost felt bad about not taking him into the party!

I got the EE version on Steam. My old five discs-in-cardboard-foldout thingy has long since been scratched to death through over two decade's worth of use.
Pretty sure the toons used to be less... "pixelly", and I can't stand anyone of the followers except the monk.
When BG2 came out I remember being disappointed about how "spacey"/sci-fi I thought armor and architecture suddenly looked. Never got used to that, but still, I liked the BG2 story better.

I need to ask one more thing.
For mods the best website is Beamdog forums? I am correct or there is a better place?

Sounds nice, thanks for the info and other websites, I just bought the EE editions of the two games plus dragonspear on GOG sales. It will be fun.

For original Baldur's Gate, I highly recommend The NPC Project mod www.gibberlings3.net/bg1npc/The game was made before Bioware was much into party banter. This really helps fix it.

I'm slowly still trying to get through BG I for the first time ever. Not because the game is old I'm old, and not because the graphics don't care. But because I had forgotten how tough old school rpg's are. There have been a couple of tough fights like the spiders in the house in Beregost. Also since the game is old I know the big revelation I know who the main character is. But that doesn't deter me, in fact it opens up role play options. I am still currently stuck in Beregost I have picked up some side quests, but since I am still level 1 I'm afraid to do them. Also should I head to that place that starts with an "N" where the mines are? You know where the druid and her husband want to go to?

You can reach Nashkel the town without too much combat, but I'd recommend leveling up at least once before going to the Nashkel mines. You could give some of the Beregost side quests a go. From what I remember they're relatively straightforward and are designed for low level characters.

I have a question where do companions you dismissed go when no longer in service? For example an npc offered their services in Beregost I said no thanks, cause I did not know where dismissed companions go. Now I can't locate him. So for future reference I would like to know. I am playing the EE version of Baldur's Gate I if that helps.

To add to what Iakus said, I think most of the non EE companions just stay in the spot where you dismiss them. Sometimes they disappear from the game if you reject their initial request to join your party too, just as an fyi.

To add to what Iakus said, I think most of the non EE companions just stay in the spot where you dismiss them. Sometimes they disappear from the game if you reject their initial request to join your party too, just as an fyi. <iframe style="position: absolute; width: 23.960000000000036px; height: 3.1000000000000085px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 15px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_74626676" scrolling="no" width="23.960000000000036" height="3.1000000000000085"></iframe> <iframe style="position: absolute; width: 23.96px; height: 3.1px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1138px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_91896988" scrolling="no" width="23.960000000000036" height="3.1000000000000085"></iframe> <iframe style="position: absolute; width: 23.96px; height: 3.1px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 95px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_1148074" scrolling="no" width="23.960000000000036" height="3.1000000000000085"></iframe> <iframe style="position: absolute; width: 23.96px; height: 3.1px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1138px; top: 95px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_92232258" scrolling="no" width="23.960000000000036" height="3.1000000000000085"></iframe> Oh well if I find somebody I think I might recruit later on, I will recruit them when they first offer.

So the party left the relative safety of Beregost and went south of the Friendly Arm Inn to do a side quest. We found and killed the troll or ogre that had the girdle a patron from one of the inns in Beregost had offered a reward for. Now we have a lot of stuff we need to sell and find which inn the quest giver resides.
