Can we have them? Pretty please with sugar on top? I hate quoting the entire post when I'm about to comment on a single line. And those huge pyramids make threads look ugly. We can always use the manual copy-pasting of course, but it would be so much easier to press the 'quote selected' button.

Until you brought it up. I'll test those plugins out and let you be the guinea pig. BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, MY FORUMS ARE GONNA BREAK IF I DON'T TEST THEM PROPERLY!

Yeah I do enjoy on another forum I use how I can select a small part of the text and quote that instead. There probably should be a rule on how many posts can be in those quote pyramids. After awhile they start taking up the whole topic.

I'm a good little girl and manually edit them in the BBCode. Have to admit, it gets old after a while...specially if you're using the trackpad and haven't got a mouse.

As Arcadia Grey mentions, the only way to cleanly cut down on a quote pyramid is to switch to BB view. That way you see the quote brackets instead of the graphic quote box, and you can easily remove everyone but the one you want to quote.
If you're only quoting a single person, you can safely edit out whatever you don't want even in "Preview" mode, but like on TBF/BSN, you have to be a bit careful or you'll delete the quote box along with it.
If my tinkering ever turns up an easy switch for the default view, I'll mention it.

It's in part why i start in BBCode view first.
Well, if the plug-in can be set how quotes are handled now, we won't see more than a quote within a quote, which is a reasonable limit to me.

Okay guys, I added the Quote Selections Plugin. You highlight the text you want to quote > Tool Icon > Quote Selection > Ok > More Reply Options > You'll find tabs underneath WYISWYG > Quotes > The rest is self explanatory.
The only issue with this plugin is that the selected quote will have an empty space in the nests. >_>

highlight the text you want to quote > Tool Icon > Quote Selection > Ok > More Reply Options > You'll find tabs underneath WYISWYG > Quotes > Tested it and got it to work eventually. Confirmed as idiot resistant. Noticed you can hit "save" on something that's in the "quotes" tab to move it into the "permaquotes" tab to save it for future use. Where's the quote saved exactly, on the users pc, the forum itself, or somewhere else?

My test permaquote disappeared, so I guess that means they're saved on the user's PC as a cookie. Someone who posts from multiple devices could confirm this by saving a permaquote on one device and seeing if it's available for use on another.

You highlight the text you want to quote > Tool Icon > Quote Selection > Ok > More Reply Options > You'll find tabs underneath WYISWYG > Quotes > Yay! Howyummy, It's working. A little bit cumbersome and non-intuitive, but much better than manual copy-pasting and tagging. I think it's going to be popular once people realize how it works. ps: do we know where those bloody spaces and empty lines come from?

Appears to be in the organizing of the text in BBCode view by the plug-in.

Is this thing supposed to work in mobile mode? Could be opera-mini specific bug, but I don't see a way to use it.

Not to alarm anyone, i.e. @howyummy , but i had the script not load once and had to relaunch my browser to get it working again (Safari, Mac OS X El Capitan). It's likely a one-time/Safari-specific thing but i'm announcing it in case others might experience this. Considering it's browsers that implement the JS engines, it's likely Safari being a bad 🐒 .
