That's what I think. She put everything into writing him according to the other devs, and by the end of the 6 years of work, everyone at BW had fallen for him and the story of the Angara. She's also known for writing plays for women, so she knew how to capture his romance for the females. Not all of us. Grr. Haha I know.

Drack. He's pretty much the only squadmate who has any sort of nuanced complexity whatsoever. What complexity lol. He's another boring generic "I'm gonna shoot stuff" Krogan He's basically the grandpa of the group - calls everyone kid. There's the interesting dynamic he has with family (Kesh), and the one that he has with Vetra. He also regularly devalues his own worth, which I think is a really interesting diversion away from the "ARGH KROGAN SO TOUGH SO FIERCE" narrative we've been given by the trilogy. His response and reaction to the Decision on the Ship also represents one of the few times where making a decision actually seems to matter

It sucks big time we had him forced on us. I did not do anything but Turian and PeeBee's subplots on Eladeen. Not going to Tuchanka 2.

Wrex is driven by pride & far more personal motives.

I think the way the game tries to make Kesh sympathetic is what eventually put me off Drack, im one of the few who liked Udina - i guess i don't like being nice equals being right, i'd rather agree with an asshole if he makes good points. As a character i think he is better than Wrex, in that he has more depth. However if you aren't a fan of krogans then there's little reason to like him, even if he is not badly written.

Drack is nice and different enough from Wrex. However, if there was a choice to have him versus Elcor squadmate or some other new Andromeda race, it would be a no brainer really to drop him. Same for Vetra, Peebee etc. Nearly copy-pasting the ME1/ME3 racial composition of the squad was one of the big mistakes the devs made and one of the main reasons multiple reviews said the game was not ambitious enough or providing enough new concepts/races/characters despite such a major change as moving to another galaxy.

I think that job they did with Angara and Remnant was outstanding, and Kett interesting. So, I like their choice of a narrow focus on the cluster, rather than a SWTOR (and to an extent, MET itself) multitude of recoloured humans without much depth to each race. On the other hand, the choice of the MW cast was too cautious and too limited. I dig how developed and fully realized each cast member is, but both repeat Asari and repeat Krogan was way too old shoe. Domi as an armchair developer would have risked replacing one of them with either Batarian or Vorcha or Volus for Drack or male Quarian or a female Drell for PeeBee. I also think that peeBee's character concept is transferable to a non-Asari (male Quarian in particular) and Drack... let's say having a father figure, a brother figure, and a grandfather figure... in the same game is waaaay too much for me.
