If I shot to a wall to see the spread, it is horrible, but when I read the description:
"Fires particle blast Which can focus on a target at range "
I wonder: does it mean that if I'm locked on a target, regardless of distance, all 5 pellets will seek and hit?

More or less yes, its still terrible damage but a decent option for a melee focused vanguard.

Calling it fucking awful would be a serious understatement. It would have to significantly improve to be in the awful category.
Coarse language would do more damage

It was one of the first guns I rolled. Calling it fucking awful would be a serious understatement. It would have to significantly improve to be in the awful category. Coarse language would do more damage I've got mine at 5 right now, and that APEX mission yesterday with +50 percent damage made it feel about the right power. As it is, I still use it, because it's got a quick ROF and auto-reloading between charges/novas is handy. But it needs more of a punch. Oh, and I haven't extensively tested it yet, but it looks like the spread pattern on it changes a fair amount depending on whether you are aiming or not. |

No they don't track. You might want to try locking under remote target and see if it adjusts the spread for distance like smartchoke is supposed to do.

Well, at least you can tell exactly where the pellets will land, so you should be able to make at least two pellets hit most targets. The spread would certainly be a lot better if it was turned 45 degrees. |

My scattershot is only level 1, so I am not sure how much it improves at later levels. Its distance is pretty good if you ADS.
The best thing about the scattershot is its ability to cooldown without interruption from other actions. So, powers, dashing, jumping, sprinting, objectives, reviving someone, etc., wont interrupt the cooldown. The cooldown is also reasonably quick, so overheating is not that big a deal.
Its my current go-to shotgun for vanguards. Damage leaves a little to be desired, but overall it combos well with the vanguard since the string of shooting and powers is uninterrupted by reloads.
