When you have some downtime, a little Mass Effect 3 multiplayer is always in order. Tomorrow?

ME3MP is miles ahead of MEAMP (IMO), which is funny considering it was done by the exact same teams.
The kits, weapons, powers, enemies, and maps were so much more varied and in depth in Mass Effect's first foray into multiplayer compared to the shallow copy&paste job (except now with bunny hops) that was Andromeda.

In Farcry I started off with 'Air Raid' and crashed many many times. A bit too cocky but I did get them. Also did a story mission where I apparently deprogrammed someone at the Grand View Hotel. The Hotel, apparently, where Jacob does all of his conditioning and the same one where you go through shooting the place up if you are doing those missions. It is curious to see if it will work given one of the endings. But regardless I did the best job I could and actually pulled off some fairly interesting bow feats nailing people from what I would consider medium range with the thing.

I've started Persona 3 Portable. Very cute game! But it have at the same time make me like the Persona franchise, and despite it: I will never be able to play any of the other games, since there is no female protagonist. This game count too much into the immedesimation in the protagonist, so I can't play from a male perspective.

So, Frontier Dev (ELITE: Dangerous) has pulled off trolling on a magnificent scale... For weeks they have been hyping the Gnosis, an exploration Megaship. It was scheduled to go into a uninhabited sector of space & take about ten thousand active players with it. People were excited about a new chapter in this game's narrative It wasn't to be. It turns out it was an elaborate ruse, nothing more than a set-up for a Thargoid sneak attack. Thousands of CMDRs were killed, a few made it out alive and are bitter & feel betrayed. I was almost one of these "explorers", but I didn't buy my Type - 9 in time... Actual vid of the incident

So this is the first time I think I have truly been able to pontificate on Farcry or at least here, usually to this point it has been a straight joural of my experiences and what I have done. Well, allow me to pontificate.
Farcry 5 definitley seems to be a game for me that is always 'one step forward two steps back'. Last night the game actually really really impressed me with a BIG plot twist and a big rug pull from under the audience. I will try not to spoil anything but it did elicit memories of BioShock and I was actually surprised they were able to pull off the feelings of 'oh shit' that I had when it happened, again in a good way this is writing and execution I am honestly surprised the game was capable of given what I know of the ending(s) and what I have experienced to this point.
AND YET it almost immedietly sabatages itself with some really really weird writing/ 'level design'/ enemy design and crap. It reminds me of that one mission in BioShock where you have to run around as a big daddy which ruined the game from getting a Tier 1 rating for me. Its just to throw in weird gameplay stuff when storywise it does not make much sense, or at least I think since I didn't actually get through the end of it.
After dying 4 times I flipped over to Madden and beat the Ravens 59-34 I believe.

So, played a bunch of Sims 4 today. Not going to give out any details of Vincent, his blue child and attempt to eat the cat, other than I'm amused that the kids hair is fiery red while his father is a blonde and his mothers normal face is dark haired. But at least he has his daddy's chin. His horrible, horrible chin.
Since Micah froze to death, Yasmine was the one to move in with their auntie. Plan is to nab her grave for the local graveyard and then move house. Except auntie's house is super radical, so might move Auro in the the next rotation.
Morgan also moved out, to that lot where Vincent did not loose his mind for a week. Had to restart Morgan's week because of some persistent potatoes and the fix being broken. On the second week the damn aliens snuck up on me and nabbed him. So he got to experience the miracle of childbirth. And lactating as well I guess since he had the option to breastfeed. Huh. Baby was the cutest thing on the other hand. Named him Bent, because "Bent nálgast" (en:Bent approaches) was playing while he was born and it just felt right.
Since Morgan's week ran a bit longer than planned, I evened it out by watching Noel (who is loosely connected to the family tree, but mostly ignored). That man has no survival skill, but managed to survive until Sunday.
Then a teeny bit of Caiden, who walked the dog and ate fruitcake. Rich and exciting life that one has. Then a bit of Loren the Amazon. I really like the game, but I am being hit with the "I want to do everything but the game is super long" feeling. Oh well, Draco is still adorable and fun was still being had.

Warframe: I finally got around to messing with Octavia and her mandachord, and now I can kill hordes of enemies not only to, but actually with the intro beats of "Shoot To Thrill."

Got as far as Driftwood in DOS2 and am messing around there. Annoyed that the Magisters put Ifan in prison and took all his stuff away, especially since he was carrying all the money. (He's the one with the barter skill.) I'm sure it's around somewhere and I can go get it back when I figure out where, though.
I turned the game down to Explorer difficulty because my team has turned out to be quite poorly balanced and I'm having a better time now. I'll worry about the other difficulty achievements some other time. (I did my first run mostly on Classic but turned it down for a couple of irritating fights.)

Ran through West of Loathing this week. Best 10 bucks I have spent in quite a while. So much silly, and look forward to run another character to find the things I missed.

Finally got around to Dishonored 2. Starts out much weaker than the first game. The whole insurrection feels oddly perfunctory and rushed. Then you get into exploring the levels and damn the game delivers on that front in spades. Playing on the hardest setting and the AI is no joke. Hope they do a third and this time it releases without the technical issues this one had at launch.

The franchise has been put into freeze so there won't be a third on the horizon any time soon. Maybe it'll be defrost years later, who knows. I read about the technical issues at launch but luckily, I didn't get so much as a bump. Don't ask me why. P.S. Saw the ending of PS4 Spiderman. The writing is good, loads of emo at the end and a WTF times 10 at snippet after credits.

When your casualties are over 9000 and you can't find many polar bears around so you hire other kinds of bears! Also vicious pirates with high tier attack. Short time career tbh... only the protagonist survives after a dozens of battles! Don't mess with me you villain! Well, actually I advanced closer to my dream coming true!

Is it open world? Is Venom/Carnage the main antagonist? No, it's got some of the canon in it but its mostly its own lore. As for us and our evil son, no. Yes it's open world. We can't say more due to spoiling the game. But we can say is the ending is bittersweet and there will be a Spider-Man 2 game at some in the future.

Ran through Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice. It's got a VERY fine interpretation of the goddess Hel, good performance by the character actress and an OK combat system - better than I thought. Hated the little rooms where you can get stuck. Well done puzzles and mostly good artwork.
Story was OK to carry the game I guess, at times creepy enough. Best combats were the horde fights in larger arenas. I only figured out some of the combos after a while but there were some nice moves - definitely buildable on. I have a feeling they had trouble deciding between puzzle combat and story - it was pretty linear, too, but for the money asked and length it was quite a good one.

Winding down on MH:W tonight, and in the final analysis I'm... torn. As I've mentioned in other posts, the production value in MH:W is really, really high, and gameplay is very solid. Obviously having been refined over many games. This is the first MH I've played though. Tried out every weapon in the roster, but eventually settled on dual blades and bow. Speed and mobility tend to be my go-tos in these kinds of games, and they worked out great. Low Rank play was the most fun, when everything was new, and the grind was pretty light. You never had to kill a monster more than, say - twice to get the gear you wanted out of it. High Rank play on the other hand had the more interesting monsters, the more tempting gear, but that's when The Grind shows up. Ahh, now I remember why I don't play loot-grind games. Having to kill 6 HR Rathalos for one lousy chest piece...? The Elder Dragons (the toughest monsters in the game) were both the high and low points in the game. Great cinematic entrances, epic fights, but at the end of the day you felt like you had nothing to show for your efforts. Not one of the Elder Dragons dropped enough resources to craft even one piece out of their six piece armor sets. You have to farm them like every other monster if you want anything. It's so deflating. And I realized, no matter how good the game is (and it is good), I just don't have the... temperament for the loot grind.

DOS2 Dedinitive Edition. I restarted because I got the black cat killed. Not intentionally. I was focused on the quests that I forgot to keep an eye on him so when the protag got off the island, the cat was dead. Fortunately, I didn't complete everything on the island and didn't progress too far so restarting is an option. I doubt I'll be able to finish this PT with Shadow of the Tomb Raider due to launch in slightly less than two days, my time zone.

By pure co-incidence, I also restarted DOS2 today!
While Summoning was a fun tree in its way, it just wasn't a good complement to the other stuff I had in the party, and I found playing on Explorer difficulty rather unsatisfying. I restarted with my undead as an Inquisitor instead, and that's working much better so far. I also made Ifan a Ranger instead of a Wayfarer, just so someone still had access to Haste and Peace of Mind.(It will also let him throw traps later!)
I will try my best to keep the cat alive this time. Still no room on my main's build for Pet Pal. Oh well, maybe I'll play a Conjurer again next run with a party that's more balanced for it and meet Sir Lora properly then ...
