Sixth and final session of Alien Isolation. Wow. This is the most satisfied I've been with a game for a long time. Highlights: -Lots more scares than I've had before. -I was forced to go back and forth through a single area, no thanks to a janky power generator, and had an Alien dogging me the whole way. Couple with the music and a grim lack of supplies, it was rather intense. -At one point in the same section the Alien jumped through a gap in a barricade, screaming as it came in, and actually caused me to pause the game in terror and have to sit it out for a minute. It was a scare just like this that made me set the game down during my original playthrough. Easily the most scared I have found myself in quite some time. Definitely a highlight. -I eventually had to deal with not one, but two Aliens at once. At first it went well. I managed to drive one of them back with the 'thrower while the other was at the other end of the room. I thought I was in the clear because I didn't hear the second Alien come charging in, but boy was I wrong. Silently, it popped around the corner and into my hiding spot, killing me and getting a shout of surprise as a reward. My second attempt was much more restrained, and I opted to use the last of my 'noisemaker' devices to lure them both into a spot and then chucked a molotov at them. It worked and I was able to get to where I needed to be. Love this game, even if it isn't good for the heart

Recently, I've been playing a bit of Kingdom Come Deliverance. It has been...interesting. Working as intended It's a beautiful game, though, even on settings that aren't as high as I'm used to (running 2560x1440 with almost everything on medium for a "mostly" stable 60fps). So I've been through the prologue and had my arse handed to me several times by canon-fodder NPCs Also, lock picking is the worst, but once you "get" it, it is at least possible. Definitely a labour of love from the developers, I think. There's almost too much to remember, though. I've been through a few of the early quests and have gained entry to a lords service (while also stealing from a number of lords ). Most recently, I was taken out on a night of debauchery by a priest The morning after;

KoA is a game that I remember as full of potential, but ultimately soulless. I don't know that I'd call it "soulless," but the lack of voice for the protagonist makes it less enjoyable. Considering that so many characters are voiced by the same few people, though, they probably just didn't have the budget for it.

I know it bankrupted the studio. Schilling poured a ton of his personal finances into the project. It was really ambitious, but development was pretty muddled if stories are true. If I recall correctly, they shifted directions more than once. The gameplay was so refreshing. When I first heard Ian Frazier (of KoA) was a Lead Designer on MEA, I knew gameplay would be even better than ever. The Profiles and classless system are reminiscent of KoA’s unshackled character builds. It’s a cool game that just needed to be way shorter with way more content.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Spent some time in the Wildlands of Bolivia. I got to do a lot of good stuff with the game. I watched a video on more tips that someone ranging in their weapons and how to do it yourself. Basically take an index card, find a brick wall somewhere or a building in a certain region, and then recon the measurements. Ironically not sure I have the patience or the practicality for it. I mean just going back and forth. Though on the other hand he did recommend that you seem to get less bullet drop with the Tars 101 scope and not the T5XI. Now the game's stats says the scope makes my rifle less accurate, but I do like the site picture better and so far things have been going...okish I guess. Though fully zoomed the site picture is kind of hinky too so its not a gurantee I'll keep it. Also I forgot just how awesome Ocoro is as a region. Which is weird because I really wasn't looking forward to it for the PT but then it just seems to have most of my favorite missions in it. Well...a good handfull. Lets see here first up I believe was the hospital defense mission. Which was over really quickly this time out. It was like just two waves of cars and a helo showed up... hell maybe it was because I had the BFG this time out so it was a lot easier to blow up all the vehicles this time out. Then next up was THE mission. If you will remember, though I did not know it, going to get El Emisario had both Unidad and Santa Blanca forces facing each other, so I synched some of them up and shot them and then they broke out into their little war again. I was laughing quite evily there for a bit. The highlight of the day was there was the last Unidad soldier was on the top of the building, a Santa Blanca soldier came out from his flank and started laying into the guy. With like multiple full tilted bursts from his SMGs...the Unidad guy just did a three round burst and the guy went down. I laughed and I looked through my scope trying to line him up and then I realized...they killed each other!. The two forces entirely wiped each other out. And Emisario still was found who hung himself. Anyways last mission was with the Unidad forces stole the Rebels truck and again drove it right by them when they were in. This time they saw me so I hauled ass ond got away...which then makes me remember that when I was driving back to the rebels I ran into a gas convoy...which I needed. So I got out and shot it and looted it, then I looked back and the truck was rolling down the hill because I forgot to set the parking break! (can't actually set the parking break). Anyways it rolled up a hill, and was stuck...I was quite convinced I was going to have to do the whole thing again, but I got it free. Up next El Chido's little zone. Another classic I remember loving but I have to wonder how I'll handle his mission this time out considering how lucky I got the first time.
Over in Fall Out 4 I did 'Devil's Due' with the death claw. Fecker killed me the first time even though he had like 5% health. Second time I got him though, then I sold the egg to Wellingham, I don't want anymore death claws in the world. Then went off to help Barney restablish his defenses, getting Reba II. And I threw down with the Children of Atom in the North for the first time. Those game guns hurt.

In appalachia Janette solved a Cold case. Then she went south following the overseer to camp McClintock. Enlisted in the army. For now she has left the barren wasteland surrounding Grafton steel behind for more lush pastures. Then i decided it was time for a little FO4. Stopped procrastinating and made the trip to the glowing sea. Tried to pick up the BFG on the way but it's Guardian Mercy one-shotted me with some kind of missile from afar so I will have to come back for that one. Nick got all impressed by a number of things we did so now we have started to look for some Winter guy. Then it was survival sunday in The Division. A lot of swearing from my part as I botched three starts. THEN magic happened. I got a west side starting point. A route I know better by now. Had some hard fights but unlike some other players (and me earlier) made the right decisions when to run, where to run and when to shoot. Unlocked the vulture commendation. Made it to the dark zone early with still 40 minutes to go. Filled my backpack. Got enough crafting materials and decided to go for it just as a player called extraction. Went to a hideout and crafted my flare gun anyway, crafted the skills and weapons i felt I needed. Still with some purple gear but a golden holster, golden G36 and a golden M60. As I exited the hideout another player also did at the same time. We looked at each other. Ran south to extraction. Stopped, again looked at each other and the the other player decided to signal. I had pulse and turret and the other player had medic station. The hunters went down after some maneuvering. The turret is really useful with keeping them pinned. And thus I made it to Master rank at survival. New highscore for me at 10000+. Happy cheers! Today the global event starts!

I finished X-COM: Enemy Within (for the second time, but the first run was 2014, so I needed a refresher) and started X-Com 2 (with WotC). Only played the second game for an hour or so so far and only did some tutorial stuff but I can already tell, it's far more complex than the first one. Love those games though, they really are costing me sleep: "Ah, just one more turn", looks at clock and it's 3am, "Damn!" Happened to me 2 days in a row. On first glance, I did like the UI a bot better in the first game. Everything looked a bit bigger and more engaging but maybe I just need some time to get used to the change. Looking forward to getting back into some guerrilla action against advent though. Side note: The music in both games is excellent.

Fallout 4. Went back to Vault 111 for the first time since leaving it. Had to pick up that special freezing gun. Went back to the old Corvega factory and cleaned out the raider vermin again. Good for practicing long distance head shots. Returned to the quarry that I had helped out days earlier in draining the water. See some raider scum moved in. Took care of them. Went to Good Neighbor to recruit MacCready and took on a hit job for Whitechapel Charlie. Jen would have taken on a hit job for free but she has expenses that need to be paid. Fitting weather on the return to the place where this all started from. The power of holding life and death over an individual. Bang! You missed, I won't. Two shots, two kills. WTF is this freak doing without clothes? I should shoot his other head. Seeing that you damaged me, think its only fair that your flesh replenishes my wounds. Well, look what we have here waiting outside the quarry. Killing and lots of bloodshed? Sign me up! Cait is becoming immune to the death around her.

Mmmmm stupid I can be, just wrote a long post and went to add an image and forgot to open a new tab when I opened imgur. So short version AC Odyssey can be a pretty funny game. My day started with helping a priestess of Aphrodite and getting intimate with her only for Kassandra to have to kill her in the end. Then rescued a guy who thought he was a god and who took me to a temple to reunite himself with the other gods but when he opened the door he found out he wasn't a god and got killed and then I had to fight a giant cyclops!!!!! The NPC's do interesting and funny things in the game, it is fun to just watch them sometimes. I watched a group where 3 women were crying, two men were fighting, two men were laughing and one was having a pee!!!! Was shopping at a blacksmith and dog just walked up and peed right between Kassandra and the Blacksmith!!!!! The dog No you are not a god The Cyclops

The FPS challenge drones on. Completed Half Life last week in a pretty short period of time, and then finished Opposing Force in two days, and Vlue Shift in a matter of hours.
The next game on the list is Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
Now I've had this game for a while, bought it in a Steam sale yonks ago, but never really played it.
I'm struggling with it right now. The problem is, I'm just not really feeling it. Usually I get really involved in games, and feel totally immersed in the world, but this one just isn't really gripping me. It's difficult to say why - there's plenty of gameplay and everything worlks pretty well. The game got really good reviews, and many people say it's their favourite Wolfenstein game. But I just can't seem to connect with it. It might be the maps, which seem a mostly like rather bland, empty grey or brown-coloured rooms in a castle, or featureless maze-like underground passages. half Life's areas were, by contrast stuffed with personality and full of interesting places to explore. Same with Quake, Quake 2, Doom, Heretic, Hexen, Hexen 2, Duke 3d....
At present I'm fighting very annoying zombies equipped with a sword and shield. The shields reflect your own bullets back at you. They are not particularly fun to fight.
I dunno - should I abandon this one and go straight to Half Life 2 (as my heart yearns to do) or grit my teeth and finish it?

I have a strict no like, no play policy with gaming. Even in regards to games I like if I am not enjoying a game at a point in time I just stop (I did this with DAI just a while ago and its one of my favourite games) as you can always go back to it, gaming should be enjoyable not a trial of perseverance.

Loaded up Fallout New Vegas, but didn't play much since I ended up going back to get some companion mods. But did have a fun encounter where I was checking where one of them should appear (but they didn't since I forgot to activate the mod, ooops) and ended up going to a Gas station, where I was greeted by four Radscorpions. Found out I had a flame thrower in my inventory, so laughed at them as the burned, then got shredded by some feral ghouls who had been hanging out behind me and were hankering for some crispy Wanderer. Also learned that you can in fact shoot the Ravens and they go POOF. But they weren't really doing anything so it ended up just being kinda sad.
Then played a bit of My time in Portia. Had a lot of fun, since it's a really cute game, but it brings out the "I need to do everything quick and good" in me, but I don't have the planning skills to pull it off, so it was also a bit stressful. But mostly fun.

I’m playing the free trial of Overwatch while waiting Darksiders 3 to come out. It’s really fun and more easy than what I thought for a newbie. My favorites are Hana, Sombra, Symetria and Moria. But I’m only playing against the AI. More days training and I try against real players.

Getting closer to the end in KoA.
I finally made it to the last major area, Alabastra. Finished the House of Sorrows quest....not 100% sure, but whoever voiced Bisarane sounded like the same guy as Tann in MEA. I suspected he was a backstabber from the beginning but man, I really hate when the only outcome for a quest is for you (the PC) to be used and fooled into helping the bad guy. Ugh. Tried to make up for it by freeing the House of Pride.
I'm not sure if I just don't remember much from the prologue or if it wasn't there, but the whole chasing after this Ventrinio guy has me scratching my head. It's like the game forgot to tell me (the player) that I'm supposed to know who this guy is but is acting like it did tell me. Still, the beginning was a long time ago..... Also, how the heck did I die in Alabastra but have my body get dumped way, way, waaaaay to the west of there in Allestar? Pre-death PC personality sounds not very nice. I hope the game reveals more about who the PC was before.

Yea the House of Sorrows story line does fit with its name. I find the entire fall from grace for the Winter Fae and what they turn into 'sorrowful' (small pun). Bisarane was shady from the start, but the fact that he was so scared of what he saw what will happen in the future, gave me a shiver. All plans and hidden agenda's because he was so afraid.
Did you get ownership of your own castle yet? While its big to run through, I always liked it .
Without getting much into spoilers, Ventrinio was your former employer hence your shared history together. For getting across the country, I assumed the Gnomes have shady contracts to collect bodies from the battlefield and get send there to be experimented on. I mean thats how I went with it. Once you beat the story, you'll get some more info about the PC from a certain someone.
The first few days when the news got out about bankruptcy were not ... peaceful. Was there on the forums at the time, things went sour real quick with just fans and employee's who knew they were screwed. I read a bunch of articles afterwars about everything went down, not good and many people were caught surprised. Even new hired people who moved there with families just a few months before it happened. Sorta similar to how things are going with Telltale if you want some comparison from what I read.

Did you get ownership of your own castle yet? While its big to run through, I always liked it . I did, which was another thing that made no sense to me. I hadn't done the Blades and Seals quest yet, but had to go to Seawatch for a collectible thingy, and as soon as I talked to the butler guy, he welcomed me to my new castle. It was another head scratching moment, for sure. I like how the upgrades happen without me having to pay through the nose though, complete with stash, all 3 crafting stations, a merchant, and a healer! Way better than what I had to pay for with Sandstone Villa in Adessa.

Finished Thronebreaker and I got it not very long. The reason why I finished it so fast is that I put it on easy and skipped all the card battles. I did try the card battles but they baffled me and then annoyed me so I chose forfeit for the remaining half of the game. So I ended up running almost seamlessly through the story. I find it amusing that decisions are in the category of evil and more evil or .. whatever evil. There's no good coming out of them. Anyway, I got good endings for the companions, well, most of them and Meve has a permanent close companion thereafter.

Fallout 4. Went to Good Neighbor and recruited McCready. Also encountered the Vault Tek rep. Jen hates Vault Tek. Killed some Gunners in one of the buildings in downtown Boston. They had some nice armor that I wanted to give to McCready. Did McCready's personal quest in eliminating his former over bosses in Gunners. Now heading back to Nuka World to take care of some unfinished business. I hate Vault-Tek. Lucky for you, you're just a sales rep and not one of those responsible for the experiments. Gunners are about as dumb as super mutants. Keep coming at me with melee weapons and the bodies pile up. Damn, left the Hamburger Helper at home.

I started playing Warframe, which I'm really enjoying. I thought the combat wouldn't be for me but it's so fluid it's a lot of fun (plus I can stealth and headshot, which always makes me happy. ). Today my new puppy hatched...from an egg. Whilst the pink pustule on my neck grows ever bigger. Yeahhh.....
