My brother wants to do some Unity co-op, so I played the first two sequences today so that the co-op missions would unlock. It's not a bad game, but I can see why people think it's a buggy mess. In just the first two sequences, I had: - (only) one graphical glitch
- a guard who glitched and refused to move away from the only door out of a room, causing me to have to reload the last checkpoint
- multiple tutorials that completely ignored the keypresses they were supposed to be teaching me
- a camera that sometimes swings around wildly when I navigate sideways with A or D, and sometimes doesn't
I still want to wait until I reach Unity in my series play through before I finish the story, but I'm going to do some side missions just to pick up more skills, which I could presumably use in co-op. I quite enjoyed Unity once they fixed a lot of the issues when it was launched, combat was fun and the outfits were cool but the story was not that great and Arno was a pretty ordinary protagonist.

Unity I think was one of the first games that had pretty long list of issues at launch that needed to be patched, much like Andromeda. A lot of the issues that frustrated me at launch were either fixed completed or enough that I could get through the game. The problem in the end was that I still had the experiences of those issues so it tainted my experience of the game even when it worked.

It's better outside of tutorials, it seems, but I got another tutorial mission in sequence 3 and ended up with the same problem all over again, of the game giving me a keys to press and then completely ignoring when I did so.

I think Unity's problems at launch for me on PC and my online friends at the time were exponentially worse than Andromeda. Unity was basically unplayable whereas the issues I experienced with Andromeda were cosmetic or issues with graphics but he game was playable for me right from the start. Unity for me took well over a month for it to even be playable/accessible for me. That said I really wish Bioware had done a few more patches for Andromeda.

I wasn't trying to say one was better then the other, but that both needed multiple patches to get to what I consider what should be release quality. Andromeda when support ended my experience was that was in a condition that most BioWare games are in when they reach end of support. Just without the few "extras" they throw in with more patching.

My brother and I spent almost 8 hours today doing co-op missions in Unity. I don't recall ever having a more bug-filled gaming experience, one of them mission-breaking and my brother never got the rewards for it. Mostly enemies glitching visually, coming back to life after dying, refusing to die, temporarily losing their health bars, spawning into existence long after we arrived to the area, both Arnos getting stuck on things repeatedly, ignoring commands, invisible merchants, each other turning invisible or each other's icons spawning randomly across the map, etc.
That said, we still had fun because the constant bugs made the whole thing so absurd. We'll probably do it again at some point. And running around Paris together picking fights was relatively glitch-free and still entertaining.
Since Syndicate was (for me) so much smoother, I wish they'd been able to implement a working co-op mode there. Twin assassins, and you can't play with a friend?
It seems like after what happened with Unity's release, instead of taking 2 years to work on Syndicate and really polish it and flesh it out, they decided to just stabilize the core gameplay elements and leave out a lot of the other things that past AC games had. And then abandoned the old model entirely when Syndicate...didn't perform well, I guess?

Since I played The Division I have waited for Ubi to implement a Co-Op option in the game play for AC games again. I thought for sure Valhalla would have main missions that you could do again on higher difficulties with greater rewards in Co-Op with friends just like The Division does but alas no.

In The Division it was so much fun post game to do the missions again solo on higher difficulties to push yourself and then with friends and randoms who became friends to do the even higher difficulties. It would be fun to do it with your Jomsviking and or also friends.

I forget where I read it, but the MP component of AC was widely ignored when they had it even if it wasn't the main campaign that people were using for co-op. So I guess its because they feel people want a pure SP experience. Not to mention there are so many ways they can ruin the entire game such as the mistakes EA made with the co-op for Dead Space 3 or Capcom with Resident Evil 5/6.

I am definitely in the camp that wants an unrestricted SP experience in their AC games. I hated it when Unity's story missions got spread out between different game modes and such. I really thought the SP game experience suffered for it.
However, I do agree that the Jomsvikings would have been a pretty good setup for a fun co-op experience if you want one, while not being obtrusive if you don't. i mean, if you could basically just join a friend's game with your Jomsviking and fight by their side, that would have made perfect sense. And if you don't have/want that, the game would work just as it does now.

I jumped back into Odyssey because I never tire of that setting and gameplay loop. My only beef is I have yet to find a way to minimize the damage sponge aspect of the combat. Playing on Nightmare which means every enemy scales with you, and every damn enemy has massive HP. I've tried to stack engraving effects for different sets so that I maximize each one for hunter/warrior/assassin. That helps but anyone else have tips on taking down damage quicker? Maybe I'll just lower difficulty so I don't have to contend with it. currently lvl 85 with my Kassandra.

I have never played on Nightmare but I found the CRIT build and engravings that beefed up Rush Assassination and Heroic Strike meant I was able to do lots of damage and often one hit even the highest level enemies.

Benoit Richer @benoitricherWhat’s your best feature / mechanic / system / gameplay concept in all assassins creed games and why? #AssassinsCreed That's a tough one and tough to just pick one. * The whole Ship/Pirate/Naval Combat in Black Flag. It was great fun and a different story mode/game play mechanic and dynamic at the time. * Rush Assassination in AC Odyssey, fun to plan and set-up and looked great in action. Odyssey's diverse and beautiful map, so fun to explore. * KASSANDRA.

AC's traversal is pretty good (better in some games than others), but you get around pretty well in these games. I actually do like the transition to more open-combat in the later games. I think it peaked in Odyssey, though there's some elements in Valhalla that I like (dual spears is fun). Their Photo Mode on PC is the most user-friendly I think I've used so far. Especially for the speed in which you can compose your shots and select your point of focus. Kass is my fav AC protag as well.

Benoit Richer @benoitricherWhat’s your best feature / mechanic / system / gameplay concept in all assassins creed games and why? #AssassinsCreed For me AC1 has a lot of those things. -I liked concept of having sync instead of health -Simplicity of the amount of stuff you carried. I think it was Melee, Hidden Blade, Dagger, Health Potion -The modern day storyline -Traversal, I think it had some of the best free roaming, of course they nerfed it in the later games for people just stayed on the rooftops. For me, less is more so when you start carrying a throwing knife, bow, gun, crossbow all at the same time I don't like it. I think that is why AC1 is a game I still enjoy. Naval combat in Black Flag was a really good addition, but again the less is more approach is what I like so with Odyssey it really killed any desire I have to replay the game at all. I liked Aveline's costume ideas as well, if anything I think the social stealth and interactions were probably the best in that game. The improved free roaming with Unity, probably the only good thing I will say about that game. There probably is more, but the games overlap in my memory so much that those are the kinds of things that stand out the most. The one thing that will always stand out for me is simple is better and when it gets too complex I don't like it as much.

Benoit Richer @benoitricherWhat’s your best feature / mechanic / system / gameplay concept in all assassins creed games and why? #AssassinsCreed The historical settings (with a few exceptions like AC3, Black Flag/Rogue, Unity, Valhalla).
The parkour when done in dense cities with big buildings.
The fun combat (literally only Odyssey).
Interesting side quest lines (Syndicate and Odyssey).

Assassin's Creed @assassinscreedPick three to defend you, the rest will work together to assassinate you. What are your chances? #AssassinsCreed I think I'd have Eivor & Bayek hide/defend me, while unleashing Kass on the rest of the assassins. Also, I wonder if the ghosted image in the background is a teaser of some sort. You can just make out a silhouette of someone behind Kass.

Kassandra for sure since her demigod powers would be nigh unstoppable. Shay is another for sure since he has decades of experience specifically hunting Assassins.
Third is tricky, between either Evie or Aveline. Both are good at analyzing situations and devising plans.

I don't even know all those assassins yet, but choosing from the ones I do know, Kass is a no-brainer with her demigod powers. Second would be Evie. Third...I suppose I'd have to choose Jacob, because if Evie had to fight her own brother her performance would be seriously hampered.
I mean really, Jacob and Evie just have to shoot a few of the other assassins with those poison darts, and then they and Kass can finish off the survivors.

Like everyone else Kass because she could curse the hell out of the Malakas. Edward just because he's Edward and especially if he is wearing his Isu Bullet Proof armour. Can you imagine Kass and Edward together, that'd be a hell of a fun pairing. 3rd one's the toughest, going to say Eivor as she is just a beast in combat and would play a good counter to Kass and Edward's levity.
