Screw you, Geordie Shore . We were going off memory. Loaded up an old save. This is the place I was thinking of But it's actually an outcropping, not an island. Ty for looking I'm confused as to how a game about Vikings can leave out such an important region. They put Hadrian's wall in Yorkshire ffs Well AC games usually get about 7 or 8 out of 10 for historical accuracy but yeah from what you have said it seems like a pretty big miss by the writers and the dev's.

My guess is they were trying to hit the major English landmarks but didn't want to have the same level of emptiness that Odyssey had in spots.

But sheesh they missed out on some gems. I enjoyed the vast empty deserts in Origin because they were accurate, they're actually empty. Riding around having mirages in the distance was cool, but I only want that implemented occasionally and when it's appropriate

He passed away when they were making the game so I assume someone was a fan. Same thing was done by the Dev's for MEA, there are a series of relays you have to track down and at everyone if you read the message it references a song from Leonard Cohen, David Bowie and Prince all who passed away when the game was being developed.

ASSASSIN’S CREED CODENAME RED TO FEATURE BOTH A SAMURAI AND SHINOBIinsider-gaming.com/assassins-creed-codename-red-to-feature-both-a-samurai-and-shinobi/[RUMOR - Though Tom has a good track record ] Official details on Assassin’s Creed Codename Red are still scarce, with Ubisoft so far revealing that the game is set in Feudal Japan and is being developed by Ubisoft Quebec. That said, a few more in-development details provided under anonymity to Insider Gaming reveal that the game could be one of the best yet, especially if you’re a fan of stealth. Insider Gaming previously reported in February that Codename Red is already in ‘good shape’ and will feature two playable characters. New details provide more insight into the game’s characters though, with sources stating in Codename Red, there’s both a Samurai and Shinobi character. Details on how exactly these characters will be played are limited, but it’s understood that the short teaser officially released by Ubisoft features the game’s female samurai. The other character, the Shinobi, is understood to be an African refugee, who learned the way of the Creed. One of the more exciting details that we’ve learned though, is that one biggest design focuses of Codename Red is the focus on stealth gameplay. Seemingly, Quebec has decided to take a Splinter Cell-esque or Hitman approach to the title, with things like hiding bodies, hiding in tall grass, extinguishing lights so your shadows are not spotted etc. all being current features. It’s not entirely clear when Assassin’s Creed Codename Red will be fully revealed, but Insider Gaming understands that the main focus at E3 will be on Mirage’s gameplay premiere and the formal announcement of its VR offering, Assassin’s Creed Nexus. Assassin’s Creed Codename Red is internally scheduled to release Fall of 2024, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the game sees a 2025 release.

Hopefully that was just an oopsie on this article’s part where they got it reversed.

This is a red flag for me. I really didn't like playing a Viking who was slightly allied with the Assassin's in Valhalla and don't want to repeat that experience. I want to be in the role of an Assassin so the rules of the game work and not just some arbitrary requirement, for it still doesn't make sense that there was a rule against civilian deaths in Valhalla when you look at what the Viking Raiders did.

I'm loving Valhalla so far, much more so than Odyssey, so I may allow myself just a pinch of hype I liked Odyssey much more but that was due as much to Kassandra as anything else but I also liked the combat in Odyssey more. How far into Valhalla are you? I am happy you are enjoying it, I too did off the bat but there are some issues I found with the game that the longer it went the more they impacted my enjoyment. I won't talk about it till you get further into the game so as not to bias anything. Of all the games except Syndicate it is the least hours I have put into an AC game (especially the modern ones) - 531hrs and a lot of that was post-game doing Daily and Weekly challenges waiting for NG+ which never came. Odyssey I did 894hrs and 5 PT's.

I did the Grantebridge arc, had a lot of fun exploring for the clues. I just found a tomb, my settlement is level 3 now, and I just did the storming of Tamworth fort. God that was a blast, I thought I'd hate it as I prefer stealth but it was fun.
I understand that my opinion may sour, so many people have issues with the game. I love it so far, I like being a Viking who's kind of....assassin adjacent. It's a neat twist on the format. Many of my gripes with Unity, which I just played, are ironed out here. No guards getting aggro'd down every street, no crappy combat, and a clan that actually has some personality and gives my character a sense of place, as opposed to the lone wolf.

Hopefully that was just an oopsie on this article’s part where they got it reversed. It's possible the trailer was made very early on and there was a pivot on the development end. Or... she could actually be an assassin-esque samurai (eg. The Forty-Seven Rōnin). Armor was only worn for major battles anyway (though I fully expect armor in the game) and the article mentions an emphasis on stealth.

I find that pure stealth gets tedious after a while...

Like others, Odyssey is my preferred game (and like dazk - it's mostly due to Kassandra). Valhalla, I think, tells a better story, but that is pretty subjective, and I don't know how widespread the opinion is.
The combat is harder, but more satisfying in Valhalla - due to the fact that Eivor is not a demi-god and as such, gets tired and hurt more easily.
For what it's worth, I wasn't able to finish a second run of Odyssey (275 hours total across both) and am not sure if I will finish this second Valhalla run, either. Guardians of the Galaxy (again), RDR2 (again) and soon - Jedi Survivor might keep pushing it to the back of the queue.

Definitely agree the story is better than Odyssey, that was a real weakness especially as it was so short. I liked the Valhalla story overall but won't go into detail as I don't want to spoil it for Arcadia. You could play Odyssey's combat the same as Valhalla, little stealth and just storm in swords blazing but Odyssey was best as a blend I thought of stealth and then when it went pear shaped go all Spartan on the bad dudes. ArcadiaGrey re Unity, yeah it was literally rage inducing that guards from a block away would spot you doing stealth inside a building?????? I almost didn't finish the game because of that. You are a DA fan yeah? How many hours have you invested in DAI? I am apparently a light weight at 13 PT's and 1,714hrs but I am one of those people that play a game to death then move on to something else but rarely go back to it. Odyssey I have gone back a few times, Black Flag as well (I think well over 1,500hrs) and similar stuff with MET (even MELE I have 667hrs) and MEA (22 PT's and 1,820hrs). I have the benefit of not working (not by choice the last 12 years) and my kids have left school (mostly) which left a lot of my day free to play.

I’ll actually disagree and say that Odyssey had the better story. Both suffered similar problems, but the three story lines in Odyssey worked together better to tell a complete story than Valhalla’s more episodic one of “go here, do these things, this place is an ally now”.

*looks at the image used in the short* Ah yes, because samurai were famous for wearing no armor and running on rooftops. If we are following two protagonists, I suspect the shonobi will be more stealth while the samurai will be more combat.

Yeah, I did 4 runs of DAI. I may go back one day, I have one world state left to play. I have a rule that if I like a game, I play it again, even if it's many years later. Just did that with BioShock, and usually I end up loving the game even more after having another run. With AC tho, I feel like the games are too long and bloated. One and done, unless I'm still around in a decade and have forgotten most of it. Then perhaps

One and done, unless I'm still around in a decade and have forgotten most of it. Then perhaps The early AC games are much shorter but some of them I tried to replay but the controls are really terrible and that for me is a big disincentive. AC 3 I really liked and replayed probably 3 times, that was the first AC game I played, AC 4 Black Flag I truly loved and played it 4 times I think and then spent hundreds of hours just doing daily and weekly quests online talking to friends and helping out with the quests. I was also focused on getting my kill count and ship sinking count up to top spot in my region. Odyssey once you have played it you can play NG+ and do it much faster just sticking to the quests and not doing every single fort etc. you come across. Sadly no NG+ for Valhalla so no replay, no grinding for god only knows how many hours again. I replayed DAI again not long ago and am currently redoing all my old characters in DAO and DA2 but am just about to take a break having played TW3 again, HZD again and now the DA stuff I need to play a shooter again.
