Now I feel that I must check my statistics. I, too, am Level 27. My playtime wil be so padded by exploration and refusal to fast travel. I just finished the critical path mission in Giza, and have that area completely tied up, for now. Time to head toward the next goal. Agree with this approach. I have yet to use 'fast travel' particularly as camel travel to your destination is so easy to use and entertaining.

I watched a few hours of more gameplay. *shakes head* Not getting this. <snip> That’s unfortunate. I’m loving it. There are so many ties into the established lore for those who’ve been aboard throughout the series. I love the open world, and I’ve even come to like the combat, as I’d hoped. I like how most of the side missions tie into the main narrative. Other times, it’s just Bayek being a good medjay. I suspect that some I’ve helped along the way will be returning the favor before the story ends. I eliminated a few more targets, today. I did tons of great side stories, and also eliminated two of the phylakes. I’ll be heading to Giza, tomorrow. I’ve been admiring those pyramids from afar for days, drawing ever closer. I look forward to the journey south and exploring Giza upon arrival. I’ve been sharing lots of pics, today. Some are comical, some more artistic. I am really enjoying this game. Let me know if the story is good when you finish it. I didn't see nor bother to search for the ending clip at YT. I just realised Alix Wilton Regan voiced Aya. There's a certain inflection when she spoke certain words that gave her away.

I'm yet to fast travel either - I find too many new things while making long treks from destination to destination, feels like fast travelling would kill it.

Phylakes are a pretty good incentive to stay stealthy honestly- if you leave a trail of destruction, I'm pretty sure they track it...resulting in them showing up at some inopportune moments. :S I fought my third one while taking down a military camp. I was trying out a new bow, not trying to be particularly careful. They set off the signal fire and I cut down a bunch of dudes with my poisonous khopesh. The phylake tore in on his horse, announcing he was there to help. I hid in some brush, and let the new arrivals inspect my poisonous death cloud. I headshotted his two partners almost simultaneously and then kicked his ass. The poison had hurt him, and I landed a hidden blade attack as he searched for the sniper. He dropped pretty quickly. Each fight, because they're dangerous, feels worthy of a story. So what melee weapon do you guys like? I've loved the staffs so far. You get pretty fast short range attacks and a long range hammer style attack. Plus, makes Bayek feel like a warrior monk. I have a ton of legendaries, but not all are near my level. I have about 7 legendary bows, which is awesome but impossible to maintain. I have an equally absurd number of melee weapons and shields. I still don't have a single spear that's worth a damn. I mostly use my poisonous khopesh and a shield. My secondary weapon is a flaming scepter that I received for helping the orphan trader. (I can't recall his name, at the moment. Cool kid.) I've been maintaining my khopesh, and lucking out and finding level-appropriate bows and shields as I go (many of them legendary, as I said). I really want a legendary spear. Fire or poison would be epic, but anything would be great. I do lots of mounted combat, so a spear would get much use. I want to make a point of using more of a variety of weapons. I'll maybe start swapping in some lower level stuff when I'm fighting lower-level goons. My favorites are definitely the swords and shields. I love the defensive boost afforded by the shield and the parrying and blocking perks. The swords are a perfect blend of speed and power. For ranged I use all my bows, but favor my predator and warrior bows. I'm one-shooting crocodiles and hippos, now, let alone humans. The warrior bow is awesome to have against shielded guys. Blast them back and cut them down. It also sends hippos scurrying more times than not, though I don't let my crafting materials escape. The perks I like most are fire and poison. Setting things alight is always advantageous. (I even have a flaming predator bow!) Poison is ridiculously good because it's ongoing damage that never stops. It even leaves a death cloud to infect new arrivals. I tend to favor poison, unless I'm fighting a foe that hates fire. Hippos panic when set alight, and burn quickly. Same for crocs. I wish I had more money. I disassemble most items for the materials, and this has served my well. I think I might need to start selling some, though, if I want to be able to maintain even two of my favorite legendaries. For mounts, what do you guys like? I've been using my horse from the beginning. I did get unseated several times in the last two hours I played. I've heard anecdotes suggesting horses are faster, and camels prevent unseating. Do you guys have opinions? EDIT: dazk , this thread might interest you. Alternatively, it might incite you to spend money precipitously. Be strong and exercise restraint; but enjoy the thread. 😉 Thank you

That's some glitch. I haven't seen anything like it in the hours of gameplay I watched. At best, the glitch so far is an inability to climb up onto the ledge / walkway so the streamers have to shimmy the toon along the top, trying to get him up. At times, getting shot at from below. Additionally, I also heard too often the NPC women repeating the same question and lines about the queen as the protag move from place to place. Some lines from the NPC males are also irrational / funny. One other thing I also noticed is the mobs. They're all very brave or have a death wish. The latter is more likely. If the protag gets 5 - 7 mobs and proceeds to cut them all down, the last one would not run away. He would stand there like a dummy, awaiting his turn. In the earlier AC games, the last mob/s would react; he / they run away / beg for mercy. I also when Anubis is begged / challenged not to eat the heart of person/s at certain junctures. Anubis does not eat hearts. He weighs them to test their worthiness. Unworthy hearts are thrown to the goddess Ammit to be eaten. Did the ancient Egyptians not know their gods? Or rather, the writers didn't get that right. The dialogue sometimes do not hold the inflection of the old tongue, it's inconsistent and too modern. The writers should have taken a leaf from Spartacus (tv series).

Actually, enjoying AC2 today. Collected all the glyphs I missed in Florence and Tuscany and did the tomb #2 in Florence. Going to finish the Tomb in Romania, and the glyphs, and then take the boat to Venice. The cheesiest sequence was that boat ride with a lady inexplicably stuck in the middle of the bog that Ezio had to heroically rescue ???

User reviews can't be trusted anymore, negative or positive. Not much new there. Au contraire mon frere, seeing a negative user score on Steam (for example), is a clear in dication that the company fucked SOMETHING up. Maybe the game is bad, maybe it's something else, but there's always something. And most of the time, it's a knee jerk reaction to one negative thing in particular, that usually doesn't even mean the game is bad. Steam's user reviews have become particularly cancerous lately. Sometimes it is justified, like GTAV getting bombed for their mod policy and such. But a lot of the time user reviews aren't remotely reliable. I kinda got lost in argument mode though - I do agree that fake positive reviews are a scummy practice. Pretty common one too, unfortunately.

Btw, what is the DRM situation with this game? Can you play it offline? Does it use Denouvo? I heard that there are some issues after a DRM related patch they implemented. I haven't had a single issue, and I think it's being seriously overblown, but my PC is powerful enough to brute force through it. Some users with older PCs are apparently getting 100% CPU usage at times due to it. Haven't seen any proof tracing it back to the DRM, though.

As Expected, Ubi claims the DRM is not affecting performance. Maybe, but the game still needs better optimization. arstechnica.com/gaming/2017/11/ubisoft-denies-pc-drm-is-slowing-down-assassins-creed-origins/In a statement to Ars Technica, a Ubisoft spokesperson said bluntly that "the anti-tamper solutions implemented in the Windows PC version of Assassin’s Creed Origins have no perceptible effect on game performance." The spokesperson added that the game "uses the full extent of the minimum and recommended PC system requirements... while ensuring a steady 30fps performance."
There's a reason they avoided saying 60 FPS was feasible.

OMG! So many feels! Petting cats is awesome!
I am 21.6 hrs in, and actually started to enjoy AC2! They really got me with the tombs and how lovingly they did Venice. It’s brilliant.
But, I also got this weirdo experience:
So, first Leo pouted that Ezio was casting his eyes on Katherine Sforza, & they went down into the ship's hull to sort out their complex relationship.
Then, Desmond wakes up, and is like, "Dudes, can't I just Altair it again, or what"
They sort of tell him, Ezio it is, bro...
And Desmond's like... Whatever... then he falls asleep and strats dreaming he's Altair. Goes right into 700 yo chick flick (well, for the time it's steamy) but guess what, he actually comments because he is aware he's checking out Altair's private life. Possibly bleeding those skillz too... So, okay, he is not acually a direct descendant from Altair, but at the time he thinks he is.... that kind of multigenerational spin is piquant.
(fans herself) Ezio... let's go see another tomb...
I actually succumbed and colored Ezio's outfit in the color that was pleasing to my eyes (and it does look good), but after that erm... interlude, I gotta get Ezio dressed in Altair's outfit just to mess with Desmond's mind.
Arlequine and Women Network Special Productions both can take notes from this one, I tell ya....

Ubisoft of course said DRM has nothing to do with the CPU usage, whether that's true or not, it's hard to say. People are reporting Origins is working "well" for NVIDIA users and like crap for AMD, on the other hand Wolfenstein II is working well for AMD users and like shit for NVIDIA.

I’ve played too much today, leaving no time for BSN sharing. SofaJockey ’s cats pic forces me to share at least one unintended outcome. The cats love Bayek. They love him so much that he could be a cat herder. They frequently chase me around town in an ever-growing mob. This went poorly for them after one altercation in a small room. I cut down three or four scrubs with my poisonous khopesh. As their bodies filled the room with a toxic deathcloud, in charge the cats. At least a half-dozen of the little dudes dropped with little cat death cries. Poor dumb cats. ☹️ I managed to set myself on fire three times today. That’s always amusing. The phylakes aren’t faring much better than the cats. I stomped three more today. I’m up to Level-35, I think, and will likely be killing another masked d-bag before noon. I keep getting the same exact legendaries that I already own. It’s mildly annoying, but at least I get to sell the lower-level version for lots of cash. I managed to lose a couple thousand drachmas when I upgraded an item that I meant to sell. Ugh. I guess I experienced my share of unintended, unforeseen stuff today. Alright, it’s way past sleepy time. I need my rest. More doods to kill tomorrow.
