So, okay, he is not acually a direct descendant from Altair, but at the time he thinks he is.... that kind of multigenerational spin is piquant. (fans herself) Arl Errr, he is a direct descendant of Altair. Unless you expect Altair to reproduce without a hot templar wife... Boring 😀 Someone told me that Desmond was genetically engineered rather than the last in the direct male descent line 800 years long. Or is it Ezio's genes that got recovered and added? (Sh*t that would have been a poignant moment, opening up Ezio's grave for that & recovering his skeletal remains... maybe they even have it in....) Anyway, if Desmond wants to catch up on 800 years backlog of soft porn, who am I to say no....

There sure isn't shit for costumes. I see see the same few at every tailor. Well, they can't use the period costumes that postdate the timeline? or do they permit it because the memories give you a wiggle room? I have to admit, the colored outfit on Ezio is very pretty in AC2. I am now sooooo torn between keeping it and recoloring in Venetian azure...

They do have those, I just think most of the alt costumes are in the uplay shop to buy for real money. Lame. edit- actually I just found a bunch of free bling in the uplay store, which is nice.

I’ve played too much today, leaving no time for BSN sharing. SofaJockey ’s cats pic forces me to share at least one unintended outcome. The cats love Bayek. They love him so much that he could be a cat herder. They frequently chase me around town in an ever-growing mob. This went poorly for them after one altercation in a small room. I cut down three or four scrubs with my poisonous khopesh. As their bodies filled the room with a toxic deathcloud, in charge the cats. At least a half-dozen of the little dudes dropped with little cat death cries. Poor dumb cats. ☹️ I managed to set myself on fire three times today. That’s always amusing. The phylakes aren’t faring much better than the cats. I stomped three more today. I’m up to Level-35, I think, and will likely be killing another masked d-bag before noon. I keep getting the same exact legendaries that I already own. It’s mildly annoying, but at least I get to sell the lower-level version for lots of cash. I managed to lose a couple thousand drachmas when I upgraded an item that I meant to sell. Ugh. I guess I experienced my share of unintended, unforeseen stuff today. Alright, it’s way past sleepy time. I need my rest. More doods to kill tomorrow. Oh, noes... I really want him to be loved by cats, but I want the cats to be safe for doing it! And, Bayek can has an animal friendship tree? Nice! Did they have anything like that before, in, say, AC3? There were no abilities like that in the main content of any previous AC games. I didn’t play it, but AC3 had an alternate history DLC in which Connor channeled animal spirits to overthrow “King Washington”. I’m not sure if he could control animals, or just channel totems. The skill tree structure came with AC Syndicate. Unity had skills as well, but not in a branching tree. Unity is actually a far better game than the meme-lords would have you believe. The parkour was absolutely perfect, the game looked and sounded stunning, and the story was solid. There were a few glitches in the first two or three days, so the internet eviscerated it. They wanted another seaman game, not gorgeous Paris. It was also overloaded with online garbage at launch, but that got patched into obsolescence pretty quickly.

I am very much looking forward to Unity, though I am prepared to the bourgeois take on French revolution, rather than a tribute to the poignant and desperate romantism of it. I am sure the Jacobins are all Templars, and the noble sins are on the side of the royalists... but hey, maybe it will surprise me with a complex interpretation of a dilemma of exercising mass justice for a thousand years of grievous hurt.... Anyway, I am looking forward to it, no matter how it interprets whom, and what bias Ubi exhibits.

Not overly convinced by the taming. Took my pet crocodile into town, he took no interest in my clothing purchases, just shuffled around looking a bit grumpy. At least didn't eat anyone...

Can the tamed animal be directed to attack specific targets or does it automatically go into attack mode (random / nearest target) the moment the protag is in combat? I've seen some funny incidents in the game. The protag goes to target garrison. In the middle of the small road outside the garrison is a crocodile that immediately attacks, ignoring the NPC sitting on a stool outside his hut nearby. NPC ignores the battle and only starts running around in panic after the crocodile is killed. A NPC accidentally bumps into a hippo near the river bank and is promptly chased to kingdom come. rotflol.

Huh, so Aya... (endgame spoilers)
...is actually that Egyptian Assassin we saw the statue to in AC2. The one who killed Cleopatra.
If we're not Bayek again next game, I'm guessing we're her in Greece or Rome.

Completed Syndicate (without DLC). Pretty much as expected - good graphics, bad controls, bearable story. Though, I turned off the music at some point and there were no MD gameplay sequences, only cut-scenes. Screenshots (no spoilers): Screenshots (minor spoilers):

Here's a shot of Edward in AC Black Flag wearing Ezio's outfit, if you look closely the figure head of The Jackdaw (Kenway's ship) is an Eagle. I think you could have Ezio sails as well. This is my favourite AC NPC:

NPC ignores the battle and only starts running around in panic after the crocodile is killed. A NPC accidentally bumps into a hippo near the river bank and is promptly chased to kingdom come. rotflol. I tamed a lion and took him into town. People freaked, but no incidents occurred. I looked for a crocodile, as I wanted to introduce them. There were no crocs around that village, sadly. I’ve yet to take a tamed animal into battle, but I expect it to act like an animal and attack as it wishes. It doesn’t get human intelligence upon taming. It just regards Bayek as an ally. There are always going to be little hiccups in AI. They don’t stand out nearly as much when you’re actually in the action playing. Some YouTubers seem to look for any hiccups and shout them out. Maybe they feel obliged in order to give an “honest, unbiased” demo? The AI is actually very good in this game, particularly considering how sophisticated the world is. It’s way better than any past open world game I’ve played, including other ACs. Guards are still dumb enough to investigate a suspicious whistle, but that’s by design. If they were too wise, the game would be damn near impossible. No one in real life could do the things an Assassin does. Here comes my meandering daily recap. I played an insane number of hours, today, and only stopped so my wife could sleep. I have just hit Level 39, so I can go almost anywhere with a high chance of survival. I completed all of my gear upgrade crafting at Level 37, and have multiple legendary weapons of every single type. I started selling high-end, non-legendary gear, rather than deconstructing it. My gold situation is now much more comfortable. The economy’s pacing seemed to work exactly as intended. I was taking down camps three levels higher than myself, earlier. I did get one-shorted by a captain once. I was also surprised, once, by a guy I thought I was assassinating from above. He shrugged me off and nearly killed me. My only warning was the “stealth attack” cue as I dropped down on his back. (It would generally say “assassinate”.) That fight was an energizing wake up call. It ended with him and three buddies dead, and no wider alarm raised. The big guy shrugged me off, not because of level or equipment, but because he was the size of an ogre. There are beefy guys, here and there, but this guy was a giant. I decided that I’d explore half of southern Egypt, today, instead of identifying and eliminating my next target. I’ve seen and done so many great things. I really love this game! It’s stunning visually, aurally and in atmosphere. The story has actually been very good. Doing side quests enhances the story immensely. Skipping too many would kill its impact, I think. Many side quests involve a series of investigations into the activities of “the Order’s” agents. Each region has its own elaborate scheme in motion. You appreciate the sophistication of the Order’s methods and how far they are willing to go by completing these quests. Others are simply stories you encounter in the world that add a lot via the cool NPCs you meet and get to know. I can’t really point to any deficiencies in this game. I’ve had two Frame Rate drops in dozens of hours. (PS4 Pro) They were seemingly random, and cleared up quickly. The technical aspects, the story, the VA work— it’s all been great to this point. I’m not finished with this game yet, but it feels like a strong GotY candidate. (It probably won’t win because of Ubisoft bias. It also faces strong competition, of course. I suspect that Zelda will win because it’s Zelda. ) This game has far exceeded my expectations. I’d never have expected it to be so good.

Once Desmond’s story is concluded, you start playing as unrelated Animus operators who are experiencing sequenced and loaded DNA, rather than their own. Regarding AC Unity’s portrayal of the French Revolution, I wouldn’t say it’s biased. Neither side comes out looking good. It does a great job of both showing and telling the terror of the period. That said, it’s not at the very forefront of the story. The real story revolves around Arno and his experiences during the Revolution. I’ve discovered that some people skipped AC Rogue entirely, which is really sad. It didn’t get the polish and attention that Black Flag got, since it was released simultaneously with Unity. Still, it was great to play as a Templar, finally. It did a good job st showing that neither side of the war is always right or wrong. It follows the Seven Years War pretty faithfully, but could’ve been twice as long as it was. In the end, it’s a shorter but very enjoyable addition to the story. It ties up the North American story and leads directly into AC Unity.

It was the feel that it generated for a lack of a better phrase, I hated it but liked that a game could make me feel that if that makes sense.

Had suprisingly few glitchy moments. Really only one stand out which was when I chased a chariot in Alexandria and it turned two corners and disappeared out of my view only to a second later fly into the air and do a few flips before crashing down and solving the quest for me.
So far been by far the most stable experience in an AC game for me.

So what melee weapon do you guys like? I've loved the staffs so far. You get pretty fast short range attacks and a long range hammer style attack. Plus, makes Bayek feel like a warrior monk. It's always about swords but for me it depends on the fighting style of how the weapon is used.

Today I played the "bonus" 'pre-order quest'. Interesting marketing tactic as always, 'imply' people are really missing out, but keep the actual quest content low. Result, about an hour's content, 45 minutes of which utilized things already in the base game. Was it worth the hype for a few conversations and a weak quest? This image tells all you need to know...

OMG, he is a genetic wonder. If Desmond is to carry Altair's genetic matter, and his mother was the descendant of the couple, then it has to be 800 years of a direct, unbroken paternal line of father to son transfer, then his grandparents must have at least one girl, his mother. And, well, if his mother did not have a brother, that's it for the good old Altair's persistent Y. And on top of it, his father has to descend from a 600 years of a direct unbroken father to son sequence. Well, culturally, the heritage lends itself to big families and preference for boys, but, yes, those families were really dedicated to procreation and male heirs... I think my biggest problem with the AC franchise is that sudden veer to Americana, but, I guess, that's where the clientele is, and Americans tend to insert Americans in everything they produce. American revolution is just not exactly the most interesting time period for me, it is kind of boring tbh.

Ha-ha, had to get my eleven year old do the flying machine sequence. She did not give a fig about the fires, soared all over Venice, and landed Ezio on like only the fifth try. While I went to shovel the snow. It was all “mom, can I fly some more?” And “mom, can I do this carriage race daddy do for you last time?” I dunno what’s wrong with me, but I just can’t do these things. I like the platforming parts, but the continuing movement challenges do me in. EDIT: OMG, Ezio got a pistol!!! Waaaaay cool!!!!
