Haha. No, whoever told you that was confused beyond reckoning. No one is genetically engineered. Altair is a maternal ancestor. Ezio is a paternal ancestor. Once Desmond’s story is concluded, you start playing as unrelated Animus operators who are experiencing sequenced and loaded DNA, rather than their own. Regarding AC Unity’s portrayal of the French Revolution, I wouldn’t say it’s biased. Neither side comes out looking good. It does a great job of both showing and telling the terror of the period. That said, it’s not at the very forefront of the story. The real story revolves around Arno and his experiences during the Revolution. I’ve discovered that some people skipped AC Rogue entirely, which is really sad. It didn’t get the polish and attention that Black Flag got, since it was released simultaneously with Unity. Still, it was great to play as a Templar, finally. It did a good job st showing that neither side of the war is always right or wrong. It follows the Seven Years War pretty faithfully, but could’ve been twice as long as it was. In the end, it’s a shorter but very enjoyable addition to the story. It ties up the North American story and leads directly into AC Unity. OMG, he is a genetic wonder. If Desmond is to carry Altair's genetic matter, and his mother was the descendant of the couple, then it has to be 800 years of a direct, unbroken paternal line of father to son transfer, then his grandparents must have at least one girl, his mother. And, well, if his mother did not have a brother, that's it for the good old Altair's persistent Y. And on top of it, his father has to descend from a 600 years of a direct unbroken father to son sequence. Well, culturally, the heritage lends itself to big families and preference for boys, but, yes, those families were really dedicated to procreation and male heirs... I think my biggest problem with the AC franchise is that sudden veer to Americana, but, I guess, that's where the clientele is, and Americans tend to insert Americans in everything they produce. American revolution is just not exactly the most interesting time period for me, it is kind of boring tbh. Well, Assassin's Creed is made by French Canadians actually. So I think it's more that they wanted a game where you killed the British. :S (Luckily their take on the American Revolution actually ends up being a bit more nuanced than it seems by the end.)

American revolution is just not exactly the most interesting time period for me, it is kind of boring tbh. I am one of the few it seems that actually enjoyed AC3, it was the first AC game I played. I liked the history element and being Australian I wasn't overly familiar with the American revolution or the geography. I also liked Connor the protagonist and their were some really funny missions like finding Bigfoot, investigating the Headless horseman etc.... After I played AC3 it inspired me to buy the earlier ones and every one since.

Anyone else having difficulty finding the question marks? I've gotten to the end game and there are so many things on the map, it makes it difficult to see the question marks. They also blend into the sand;which doesn't help.

Cat's are sacred beings. A Medjay must protect them.Nice. No doubt. But it's obvious that it's not only the medjay, every ancient Egyptian honor the avatars of their gods. From herons to scarabs. The gods of the ancient Egyptians were with them every day. Their presence seen and felt, they would have felt close to their gods. The benefits and punishments meted out were part of their lives.

Ha-ha, had to get my eleven year old do the flying machine sequence. She did not give a fig about the fires, soared all over Venice, and landed Ezio on like only the fifth try. While I went to shovel the snow. It was all “mom, can I fly some more?” And “mom, can I do this carriage race daddy do for you last time?” I dunno what’s wrong with me, but I just can’t do these things. I like the platforming parts, but the continuing movement challenges do me in. EDIT: OMG, Ezio got a pistol!!! Waaaaay cool!!!! There is a QTE in AC3 that I just cannot do, always have to get my teen son to do it for me!!!!!

I like AC3 and Connor as well. That doesn't mean there aren't things I didn't like (I know exactly which QTE you mean dazk, the one with the 2 guys fighting, right?) QTE events are one So, I finished ACO and I loved it. I cried like a baby for most of the end though. Don't judge, it's a bad time of year for me. But it was sad/touching. I still loathe the new combat. And it has nothing to do with it being easy or not, because it is easy and you still feel like a badass (which btw, you SHOULD, since you are an Assassin). It's just I hate all the dodging and rolling around, I mean, why does that make fights more interesting than countering? I don't get it. Anyways, moving on, I did like the bows and I used the HECK out of them and stealth. So that was good. Boss fights, dumb, cuz it was just hack n slash while scooting around. *yawn* Luckily, the story, the exploration, setting and all the side stuff more than make up for it. Would buy/will play again. I'm level 40. Still have 4 zones I haven't been to yet. Still working on upgrading my weapons and such cuz I keep getting new stuffs I like better *snicker* Did the Sphinx and the star things. Very cool. I will recommend this game to anyone who asks It's not my #1, but I like it more than others. And I like Bayek. MD chick, not so much. I just found her to be grating to my nerves. Hopefully that gets better and hopefully we get more MD! Okay, I prattled on long enough. One more thing, I agree SofaJockey, photomode has taken up so much of my time I love your shot! Some of mine: Also, I'd like to mention that even though my computer is nearly 2 years old, the game has run almost flawlessly on ultra settings for me. I have some very slight stuttering in story cut scenes, but other than that, smooth as silk. I was very happy about that.

After a number of tries, I had to give up on the Tomb in Venice that has timered run with three side jumps. I just cannot perform the side jump reliably and I want to see how the story ends. I might finish the tombs after I get to the end of the game.
Venice carnival was incredibly fun, but I ended up recolouring Ezio’s clothes back from Venetian to Tuscan emerald that I like the best on him. I know, it’s totally silly...
Finished all the glyphs, to get a short movie with a ridiculously bad sci fi “revelation”. Honestly, I wish the AC just stick to pseudo-historic adventures. That one stroke of genius they had with Animus was it in terms of sci fi.
So, yep, hoping to finish it... but honestly, there are so many assassinations of some out of the left field characters not reflected in the conspiracy tab that it’s hard to say if I am almost there, or if I have to run aro7nd Venice breaking out future allies a few more times.
I wish the story ended during or after the carnival sequence, now it’s just dragging on.

Not just you, that's a tough tomb. It’s not that it’s tough, it’s that it’s unforgiving of the mistakes, and the second jump in particular is hard to trigger. It ends up with a cocktail of buttons to be pressed just so for Ezio to jump in the right direction, so tbh putting a timer on it is a bit too much for me.

Has anyone noticed some of the side quests seem to end right after you finish your task? The game doesn't tell me to go back to the quest giver, but I'm wondering if I'm missing some extra dialog or closure for the quest by not doing so.

So, my Ezio was not the only Ezio in town that felt strongly that swan diving after a back flip is easier than the side plunge to the right or left.

The one in Venice took me a while, like maybe 20 attempts simply because I couldn't get the timing right but I always felt I was close to getting it. If I remember it was the timing of the direction and spacebar tap as I was doing it too fast and it sometimes wouldn't execute. Once I did it though I had no problems with it later but its probably different with different keyboards as well. I have always thought it was easier with the controller as you can jump any direction in a full 360 radius (I don't use a controller). My Brother in-law was playing on console with a controller and the jump I said I couldn't ever complete in the mine he did it first time and then jumped back and showed me again and yeah the direction stick was like at 10 o'clock so just off the right angle that you'd get using A to jump left. There are a few back jumps as well, one in particular in AC 3 in the underground tunnels and one in AC4 on to a tree branch that used to test me
