What's putting you off Valhalla? From what I have heard, stealth isn't going to be a focus of the game anymore, and instead there will be large-scale sieges to take part in. Not to say that it'll be a bad game, but I had visions of sneaking around a stave church, knifing people from the shadows, and it doesn't look like that's what this game is. The game will definitely still have that. In fact that will probably be more common than the sieges which seem to be rare. Sort of like the full on gang fights in Syndicate. Edit: They might even be almost nonexistent other than a couple, depending on how much diplomacy and things like that will affect things.

I am pretty confident stealth will still be a big thing in the game, I can't ever see them moving away from that and the fact they are bringing back social stealth which was a feature of earlier games seems to support that. I am not sure how the sieges will work but I don't think they'll be overly "large" more the scale of the forts that you do in Odyssey and Origins and they still support stealth but you may just have to find some cover first. I also think they may be optional but possibly attached to your "community" to gather resources etc.

Looking at the leaked siege gameplay, you should be able to sneak into the castle to open the gates (instead of smashing them) and probably deal with the boss while your "viking army" does the frontline fighting. The (awful) player seemed more interested to show how bad he was with none-stealth gameplay thought.

I think Odyssey hit the sweet spot in terms of being able to play the game however you liked. You could play full stealth with a character built for CRIT and stealth and nearly 100% avoid melee combat. Or you could play the complete opposite with a warrior built around resistance to eveything and just walk around like an indomitable tank. If the bow is your thing that was a good build to also compliment a stealth build. I am assuming they are going to get rid of Rush Assassination, that will be something I personally will truly miss but it was a bit too "magical".

While I don't know if Rush Assassination is returning, I did see Chain Assassinations though. If you assassinate one guy, you can throw an axe to assassinate another nearby foe. They may bolster that with abilities to chain a number of assassinations.

In Origins, you could upgrade it to do 3 assassinations I think.

I'm starting Jack the Ripper DLC today. Kind of sad that the game is almost over. I'm glad the twins made up in the end, though.
I finished Last Maharajah DLC yesterday, and it seems rather sloppily done, so I hope Jack the Ripper had a bit more care put into it.

Which elements did you not like? So far, I'm not liking the fear mechanic. I mean, I get why it can be useful, I just don't personally care for it. I preferred when Evie could turn invisible. Also, Evie looks like her 60 year old third cousin, not like herself at 40. Wtf. I do wonder if I'm missing something with starting gear, somehow. Evie is level 10, all the enemies are level 11, and her gear is mostly below level 7. I've been following the main story because every time I approach a side quest area, I get a warning about upgrading my gear first, and I can't afford anything new yet.

Yeah it was the fear mechanic plus IIRC they introduce another game combat mechanic in the fight with Jack that they don't give a heads up about again IIRC. I only played it once I am not sure what the deal is with the gear, sounds strange. Hrungr were you one of the people that played Syndicate recently and did you play the DLC? azarhal you have a fantastic memory for all things gaming do you remembr anything about gear requirements in Syndicate?

azarhal you have a fantastic memory for all things gaming do you remembr anything about gear requirements in Syndicate? I only remember min level to unlock some and that you can upgrade them for a few levels if you have the resources. Also, doing factions side quest (that's not the term, but you get 3 different reputations increase for those) unlock a few upgrades as your reputation increase as well.

I don't own the DLC for Syndicate. I picked up Syndicate for free, but the Season Pass is still really expensive (even on "sale" it's $30 CDN).

Those side quests are the problem right now, though. I did get a few new items from killing Lady Owers and went to try another fight club, and while I didn't die quite as fast as before, I still didn't make it through. I'll try a different type of side mission and see if I still get the gear warning.

I even tried tossing a throwing knife straight at his head, from cover, without him seeing me, and it did nothing. That was a really frustrating boss fight. Way harder than Starrick.

Nice feels at the end, and I think they did a good job making the tone of the DLC much darker than the main game. It definitely didn't feel like I was working in "my" London anymore. The whole place felt hostile. I felt so bad for Jacob and wish Evie could have had one more scene interacting with him after she found him. The ending just felt abrupt. I was ok with Jack not being unmasked, but I really didn't think that fade to black was going to lead to the credits. I'm disappointed that Evie's top tier stealth skills were replaced by fear skills, which are...the total opposite of staying in the shadows being as discrete as possible. And then to have her officially "seen" at one of the assassinations... Overall though I loved Syndicate. I'm definitely going to play it again at some point.

To the surprise of nobody: Kassandra was supposed to be the only lead in Odyssey, but Ubisoft heads said "NO!". And I suspect Eivor was a similar case, as it's a purely female name.

Meanwhile Last of Us 2 sold 4 million + copies. Also, why I suspect other female leads got the short end of the stick to: Evie in Syndicate and Aya in Origins.

I personally take Schreier's reporting with a grain of salt as he tends to cover one side. And I'm glad Kassandra wasn't the only playable lead. Having a choice is preferable.

Err, that really isn't the point though. The point is to tell the abuse allegations. I can't read the article 'cause there is a paywall.

Yep, there was a crazy misogyne who believe women only exist to be sex objects in charge of Ubisoft and he promoted like-minded people while demoting people speaking against it. I read some sections of the paywalled article (people have posted some part of it) and it's not pretty. The refusal to allow females leads is just further evidences of how much that person hated so see women with any kinda of power. And it wasn't just having them as leads, just having them playable seems to have been a battle between the dev team and that guy.
