As for the achievement and the means used, I don't whether to call this a cheat or a cheese, but it is certainly a bug. I don't see any problem using this for farming credits/xp, but it certainly does not entitle one to bragging rights.

I would put it on the same level as the incendiary glitch from ME3MP. Higher than should be allowed damage was achievable with that and people used it quite regularly in solos.

It is 100% legit, no. Is it likely to be a bannable offense, no.

Many people posted solo speedruns abusing the incendiary glitch.
