I was really excited about 1.05, i honestly stupidly thought it would fix some of the shit in the game. Don't get me wrong I'm happy i can complete games now, well sometimes, but still sucks that 3/5 games are laggy as and once you're in you can't leave, still sucks that after getting revived my character can't move in any direction just dodge, still sucks that the whole game can crash on PS4 just cause I dared press to x on multiplayer.
But never mind all that, bugs get fixed sooner or later, i'm worried about weapons and powers. When i started multiplayer, i saved up for a premium pack and then bought one, from it i got the Equalizer and since then it has been my main weapon while i try different weapons as secondaries. As you already know, most of the weapons are utter shit.
It's not that weapons are not balanced, there's not a single overpowered weapon in the game. they're just all made to be weak. Meanwhile i'm hearing about this mysterious vanquisher that can actually kill enemies, and i'm thinking Bioware didn't intentionally make weapons and powers weak, right? Why would they? I can understand making lower tier weapons weak and rares and ultra rares strong to incentivize people to spend money on packs, but making everything weak across the board? that's nonsense. Of course its not intentional. This patch will fix the weapons and powers will actually do damage, and combos will have devastating effects. Right?
Instead of doing that though, Bioware specifically targeted everything that was viable, nerfed the vanquisher, although i hear its still good, nerfed melee and didn't even touch powers or buff any weapon to a decent usable standard. Seriously, who in gods name was doing solo gold runs with a mattock that made them think ooh that bugger needs a nerf.
Isn't it fair to think that the game is working as intended when their first update targeted what worked rather than what didn't? Anyone here expecting weapons and powers that actually do damage in future updates?

I have no hope for the future balance patches coming when they thought the Mattock was balanced properly the last time. I don't believe they actually test the weapons other then looking at spread sheets.

I'm staying optimistic for now, but we'll see what the future holds. I'm most decidedly not pleased with this patch. Four crashes in a single match and continued rubberbanding cemented that firmly in place for me.

hurricane, equalizer, piranha (with choke), vanquisher, BW, and thokin (with mag mods) are really the best gold guns to use.... and you need some of these leveled up with mods and such.
Tons of guns work fine on silver and some are situational, you can put a hesh or scattershot on a nova vanguard...or even a revenant on a turian but your avenger type weapons and 85% of the URs are garbage on gold.
Its sad. Burst weapons were given some love but they need more....

This game will eventually be balanced. It took quite a while for them to balance me3. A piece of information that many have forgotten over 5 years. Many guns and powers were poor compared to their final state and it looks like the mattock change might be akin to the weird vindicator nerf that we had towards the start of me3.

Really, though, I would like to be hopeful and think that shit could get better. I don't think anything is ever insta-fix and it's perfect. Maybe the next patch or so will work out some of the bullshit. Maybe they'll listen and switch some shit around, or maybe they'll just let us continue shooting marshmallows. I can't call it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Did you just call BioWare a trashcan? Feels oddly relevant considering trash cans and the patch. Jokes aside. Again, still staying optimistic.

I haven't read the wall of text and I am not going to. My eyes are too sore from farming Zero/Outlaws for days.
But the answer for your question is yes, I am optimistic. Come on, the game is barely three weeks old. If you know anything about Bioware's MP games, you should know that this is not the end product yet.

Not really considering the state of the game they released. It's like they tested stuff on the lowest difficulty and one time and called it a day. That's for both SP & MP

Considering all the weird changes they've made from me3 like massively increasing all cooldowns, nerfing most powers (that aren't greandes) and combos by huge amounts I'm pretty sceptical, that and the state they released ultra rares in, I don't think they tested some (most?) of them at all.
Also we need more fun and unique kits. Not new kits with a shitty drone and 2 repeat abilities. I hope the architect isn't a sign of what's to come for future dlc characters or we're in for some sad times. If you compare that guy to most of the me3 dlc characters he's a real boring piece of crap.

Really adding more without buffing the old ones when they are shit is just a shit move.

I have no hope for the future balance patches coming when they thought the Mattock was balanced properly the last time. I don't believe they actually test the weapons other then looking at spread sheets. I like to believe they actually do some testing in game. But just by looking at their streams, the only thing they play is bronze, so yeah... They have this mentality of "all your guns must be at level X to be useful" like wtf? I got the gun, not a blueprint for fuck sake! Why damage depends so much on the gun's level? In ME3 it was also like this, but not nearly as dramatic. Obviously the majority of the guns in MEA are useless no matter the level, but that mentality of theirs is there nonetheless. The level of the gun shouldn't dictate damage at all imo, just stats like accuracy, recoil, reload speed and weight.
