I gotta say that i love the idea and they look pretty cool and could be really fun if the weapon actually got affected in a positive way.
I feel like the weapons do no damage after you "upgrade" them and that's dissapointing.

I don't think I've come across many that actively nerf the weapon - most of the ones I use just boost biotic, shields, or tech abilities in some way, but have no effect on the actual weapon. I'm sure there's some out there that function as you describe, but I've not really paid much attention to them.
The available armor mods (not augments) are another matter. Every one I have so far is too impractical to use - boost shields at a cost of 50% of your HP, increase damage protection, but at the cost of losing 50% of your HP every time you avoid and so on.... I ended up using none of them.

I ended up using none of them. The beam mod makes things useless. You can turn a carnifex into a predator 1. I've got a +50% power recharge with a -30% weapon damage. A few tweaks with power damage, recharge speeds, in the skill tree and mods, a cryo gauntlet and an engineer drone that primes for detonations and reduces tech cooldowns, makes that augmentation a beast. But you have to think on that level if you want to use them. At no point is it explained to you that +50% shields -50% health can be be compensated for, you can make up the health loss while keeping the shield boost.

Bioware is a fan of shitty item mods they did the same thing in DAI. This mod will make it cool...but oh we need to add some big negative to it too.
It's just another in their endless quest to make every single decision you make in the game "gray".

This sums up just about every fusion mod I've picked up. One of the most egregious being +100% hover duration/-30% weapon damage. Who in their right mind would use that?

This way you have +50% Shields that won't really benefit you unless you're prepared to put the effort in to organising what you're crafting and planning out how you want to get there. I like it.

Its called... "The rule of cool". Bioware love it. Hence the augmentations, they were not thought through very well or with any real useful application or practicallity etc. So with that in mind its best to just simply ignore the augmentations. A waste of time if you ask me.

"Most people" seems like an answer you can live with. Most people were saying..... Can you be more disingenuous? How about you put the full quote and not just a snippet that is completely not saying what you are implying?
But I get the distinct impression you are in the "Bioware can do no wrong" camp.

But I get the distinct impression you are in the "Bioware can do no wrong" camp. You clearly have not read any of this ones posts before. It reccomends beginning with "How?" Before browsing "The Mass Effect franchise is a beautiful hobo." And then "the butt thread" It also is responsible for writing "Feels:The moments that got you in Andromeda" This one is capable if sharing many opinions. It simply enjoys crafting and augmentations and feels that was an enjoyable part of playing Mass Effect Andromeda. *Chews mindfish*

because thats the way it is in real life. you know, bigger and better bullets = lower damage.
seriously, the negatives shouldnt be so bad (but they are). only an idiot would think giving 50% shield but lose 50% life is a good idea. that is one example where I think the devs can be stupid fucks. what stupid motherfucking IDIOT thought up such a dumbass idea?

If they do it for balancing issues, which I'd assume is the motivation, then why not simply reduce the positive effects of the mod rather than add an arbitrary drawback? I don't even bother using mods with negative effects.
Upgrading your weapons and gear should feel like your making them more powerful.

Several of the augments are poor, some are just number upgrades, others seem to fill a niche. An equalizer with electrical conduits is a shield destroying machine.

It's one of the benefits of playing on a lower difficulty. I have no need for the epeen of saying "RAWR!!! I BEAT THE GAME ON INSANITY!!!"
I'm free to play on any difficulty I want and can there fore ignore side aspects of the game I dislike...like crafting and augments and upgrades and consumables.

There's a cryopod you can unlock later that cuts the penalty in half (need like 90% Kadara viability). Giving up 15% weapon damage (instead of 30%) for an extra 50% power cool down? I'll take it.

...only an idiot would think giving 50% shield but lose 50% life is a good idea... Oddly enough, this^ is actually one of the ones worth using, especially once you get the perk that halves the negative affect. It turns it to +50% shields/-25% health (a net gain). On a class like Vanguard, it works pretty well since shields keep you alive and are easily replenished with Charge and melee attacks. Having high shields is very important for Vanguards because the shield replenishers are percentage based and not flat amounts. I use the +50% shields/-25% health mod on my Sentinel too, since I use Energy Drain a lot.

Recently I have thought about using that perk for the continued playthrough. You are right, it is a net gain after using the perk. Still there are so many mods that they have given drawbacks that just negate the value.

(I don't own the game) I watched one lets play where the guy added something.. plasma maybe, to a sniper rifle and it really cut down his range.. so he turfed it.

They're worth using if you build a character correctly. It's a trade off system where you're sacrificing one thing for another, build your character correctky and that tradeoff can favor you quite a bit, especially when you get the perk that cuts the negatives in half.
So don't think of them as pointless additions as you're then choosing to ignore their purpose and it'll show you really don't understand them. Again, build your character correctly and you benefit your character depending on what you're wanting your build to be.
