Oddly enough, this^ is actually one of the ones worth using, especially once you get the perk that halves the negative affect. It turns it to +50% shields/-25% health (a net gain). On a class like Vanguard, it works pretty well since shields keep you alive and are easily replenished with Charge and melee attacks. Having high shields is very important for Vanguards because the shield replenishers are percentage based and not flat amounts. I use the +50% shields/-25% health mod on my Sentinel too, since I use Energy Drain a lot. It would seem the mods and augments are situational.. interesting. (I don't own the game) I watched one lets play where the guy added something.. plasma maybe, to a sniper rifle and it really cut down his range.. so he turfed it. Weapon wise for sure. I put a ricochet mod with an automatic expecting bullets to fly all over the place. Nope lol, completely killed the range of my weapon and restricts it to CQC really.

I tried the plasma seeking on a Black Widow... Sounds cool in theory, but the bullets become really slow, making them take 1-2 second to get to the target if its far. The seeking helps if I missed my shot, but if the enemy moves within the bullet travel time (and lets be honest, shit moves a lot in this game) then the shot misses for sure, despite the seeking.
Not long after I made a Black Widow without plasma seeking and holy shit that felt so much better, and I'm killing shit much faster too! Augments fail.

Armor augs are useless. Seriously, what's the point of add something extra to your armor if it's going to take as much as it adds e.g. +50% accuracy and -50% shields, and call it "Ultra rare" while at it. The fuck? Will never use those. If it's supposed to be situational, then fuck it. I wont waste time using an aug that barely ever drops if it's going to be situational.
Weapon augs sound cool and all, but I got the impression they work in the same fashion. Crafted an Equalizer VI with the grenade mod. What a waste. The thing shoots explosive popcorn, that's it. About 3 complete clips to kill a random unshielded raider shooting at the head.

Sorry. I wasn't very specific. I was talking about the augmentations that change the way the weapon works. Like the plasma seeking aug.

I think the augments have their own secret implementation you're suppose to figure out on your own.
The plasma for example on a scatter shotgun will make the shotgun require reloading after 2 shots and unlimited ammo. This combined with shield oscillator turns you into a tank with shields reloading every 2 shots. Reduced damage makes sense for a tank.

because thats the way it is in real life. you know, bigger and better bullets = lower damage. seriously, the negatives shouldnt be so bad (but they are). only an idiot would think giving 50% shield but lose 50% life is a good idea. that is one example where I think the devs can be stupid fucks. what stupid motherfucking IDIOT thought up such a dumbass idea? yeah Its actually really useful for playing Vanguard, since you should never be putting yourself in a situation where your shields drop with all of the shield recharge skills. That mod has saved my bacon more than a few times, despite the large drop off of base health. Shields also regenerate fully, whereas health does not.

I see that in a new light now. Good thing I saved the one I got. Maybe I'll use it some time.

Plasma Seeking works pretty good up close with the Piranha. It even helps longer distances in certain cases, but sometimes they can take cover and avoid the shots.

weapon's are good...i think you are talking about armor's mod,the ones with nerf together with the bonus. they are like the sigils in DAI but i didn't find them useful while in DAI some of them were really good (-50% attak +200% flank damage for assassins)

What's incredibly irritating is that it's not even in the tooltip - ricochet makes some weapons completely useless.

Some weapons go very well with some augments, others make the attached weapon total trash. PAW is the best weapon to stick Augments into. You guys have tried it with grenade launcher or bio-converter? It's pretty silly.
That said, it's stupid that you need to destroy the gun to get your augment back. Harms experimentation a lot, unless you want to reload a save.

My Ryder is an Adept and I use the Biotic Mastery mod. +30 biotic power damage, but quite a few penalties. Haven't had much trouble yet though. I am a biotic God.
