One of the things which gives DAO so much replay value is that you always seem to find out something new about your companions when you vary who you take on the various quests. This time around, I took Zevran, Shale, and Sten to meet with the Guardian at the start of the Gauntlet. Generally, the Guardian guilt trips them on something in their past. Nothing new was discovered regarding Sten. He really struck a raw nerve with the usually jovial Zevran and got him to reveal that he deeply regretted killing a certain woman for the Crows. No further details were revealed -- her name, the circumstances, etc. Just curious if he reveals more about this incident in his past if questioned later in the game? Any Zevran aficionados out there?

Yes, he will, if you get his approval up high enough.

He will tell you more as melbella said. It definitely gives you a different perspective on Zev after that, and romanced it is even more meaningful. Partly why I only romance him in DAO.

Aside from Zevran, the Guardian's reaction to Shale was also unique. Rather than push any guilt buttons, the Guardian notes that a soul exists within Shale's body and compliments Shale on her courage. Interesting foreshadowing of what Shale will ultimately find out in the search for the Anvil or her personal quest.
