The reason is that its broken. If i want a remnant vi it has to be slotted on the active favourites, if you switch the VI goes away. This is annoying especially when you have only 3 slots. Previous games we had 8 atleast on the PC and now i have 3. I like playing soldier and the single combat power i have is turbocharge which is a poor in comparison to adrenaline rush and consumables. So this game i have lost abilities, lost ammo as powers or weapon mods and lost skill slots to even experiment properly. This is what annoys a lot of us that we have not really gained anything by the new system, infact at best its a side step for some and a terrible regression for others. Im in the regressed camp and its not like we can mod it like Bethesda games to solve this issue. It stays if you have the ability on the other favourites too. I do this all the time with the Assault Turret. Drop it from my main favourite, then switch to a second favourite with better abilities against armor.

Yea so you are saying i should permanently have a turret and vi on my slots which leaves me with a grand total of 4 slots over 4 profiles. That is pure bullshit which only you seem to defend.

The problem with these statistics is that the sample size largely consists of flavor of the month gamers who play a game once or twice and just pick default everything for their character. So they ended up playing as sheploo soldiers. I would argue these types of gamers didn't even experience mass effect. It's so telling that most of them didn't even meet Wrex in ME 3. In my opinion the soldier class is the most generic and least interesting of the six classes in the MET. The great thing about the class system is it made you change up how you played in different playthrough as well as encouraging us to actually use our squads in combat. The MET truly had a squad based combat system. I've always played a soldier class, so I disagree. I enjoy the 3rd person shooting component of the game, so the more guns the better in my eyes. I also wouldn't say the statistics are necessarily deceptive. Think about it. Those who imported characters likely never changed their class in ME2 and ME3. It's not really surprising the soldier class would be the most played. As I said, I only had an interest in other classes in multiplayer. I started with a soldier Sheploo in ME1 and he stayed that way as I imported all the way to ME3. MEA, at least, gives more flexibility and allows players to try other things, instead of having to do another playthrough and start over. I never felt the "squad based combat system" was ever that much to write home about either. Honestly, the only difference from MEA and ME3 is you could specify what abilities you wanted a character to use. Otherwise, squadmates are just as useless as they were in all the previous games, especially on Insanity. I actually found squadmates to be far more dependable (and likely to survive) in MEA compared to the previous games.

Profiles killed any possible class-sensitive content, trivialized such thing as biotics (made discussion about it stupid too - oh, that Cora that can not shut up about "terrible life of biotic" while talking to my Adept, fgs!), and only needed to cover "3 button" console play style.

I never switch profiles. It's too easy to keep one with the three powers you use. I do alot of sniper so I just stay with infiltrator. Early game I did use soldier for awhile but then I found armor to make it all balance while still using Infiltrator. Between the powers, profile, armor and weapons you can make a build that does what you want without having to switch again. I actually found using the profiles annoying since to make a profile you have to do it in the loadout screen and changing the powers is not as easy as it should be.

I liked it. I played a tech based Ryder with Infiltrator as their main best brat and Sentinel as a delicious god of destruction. Comboing Shockwave with Annihilation and Incineration was just aces after freezing and stealthily sniping out everybody.
