Hello! The Krogan Gladiator was the second Ultra Rare class I unlocked and the first one I leveled to 20. Figured I'd share my experience with the class in a guide. So, let's get ready to play some Krogan Baseball!
First off, Gladiators are a melee machine. Melee is already strong in this game, and though the recent addition of melee interrupts have taken some of the punch (pun intended) out of her, she can still hammer (another intended pun) it home and bring home the Gold (final pun, I swear!) The Gladiator, as the description says, is definitely one of the tankier classes in the game, with really high health and ways to regenerate both health and shields.
The build we'll be using at Rank X is 6/6/1/6/6. I only have her at Rank I myself, but even then, she's still Gold viable.
Weapons:
You'll be up close and personal most of the time and red health mobs will give you little trouble. I recommend a good SMG like the Hurricane or Equalizer to strip shields quickly. Once they're down, they become easy prey. I also hear Falcon is good, but I haven't tried it out yet.
Mods:
Barrels for gun damage and melee optimizers.
Equipment:
Juggernaut Shield
Consumables:
A few options here. Incendiary ammo to help with armor as the Gladiator lacks the tools to deal with it. Strength enhancers for more melee damage is also a good choice, as are shield consumables to help survivability.
Skills- Going to list these in the order I took them.
Blood Rage: Krogan Gladiators rely need two things- melee damage and survivability. This tree provides both.
4B- More melee damage. That's what its all about.
5A OR 5B- Depending on how good you are, you can take either. I prefer Regeneration as the Gladiator doesn't have the same kind of DR as the KroGuard, but Martial Arts is good if you just want pure mayhem.
6A- 45 second Rage, instant Rage at 33% health and needing only 2 kills for Rage is the better choice, imo. I can't count the amount of times the low health rage has saved me and gave me breathing room to get away and wait for my health to regen.
Annihilation: This will always be on, providing some really nice bonuses and priming enemies.
4B- That cool down penalty is rough. Lowering it is really helpful. You're also going to be in melee range most of the time, so radius isn't really needed.
5A- Damage Attraction increase all damage to anyone in your Annihilation field. Basically meaning 30% extra melee damage at all times. Get it.
6A- One of the only ways the Gladiator has to regenerate her shields, it's extremely useful, restoring 30% per kill on enemies in the Annihilation field. Bonus is that it helps teammates as well.
Offensive Biotics: You're other passive provides some survivability and more damage.
4B- Lowers your Pull cool down which will help you survive when you pull enemies to you and smack them away for free shields.
5A- Exposure is another free 20% damage increase to enemies hit by your Biotics.damage. Biotic Warrior is another must have. Nearly every enemy will be affected by Pull or Annihilation, meaning you'll be dealing an extra 50% melee damage with your first swing every time.
Pull: The pitch part of Krogan Baseball, it's all about pulling enemies to you and then hitting a homerun with your hammer. Pulled enemies take more damage and combined with your other bonuses, any red health enemy will die with one swing, even on Gold at full health (except for Ascendants).
4B- Radius can let you grab two enemies, meaning it can allow you to trigger rage is one shot, which is useful.
5B- Yet 20% damage buff that helps you drop larger enemies (like Ascendants), though its overkill for anything else.
6A- I prefer Anti-Shield because I can spray and drop shields a bit and finish them off with a pull/hammer combo.
Nova: Just one point. Nova is a fun skill but pretty useless on the Gladiator for a couple of reasons. It doesn't detonate anything and even when upgraded to prime, the Gladiator doesn't have any abilities to take advantage of it, meaning Nova has zero synergy with the rest of the character. It does provide a a little bit of invulnerability which can be helpful when surrounded, but other than that, skip it.
The play style is pretty basic. Keep Annhiliation up at all times. Use Pull to grab enemies and whack them with your hammer to get rage. Run up to things and beat them with your hammer. Don't be afraid to use jumping melee for it's AoE. It's like a mini-nova with more damage and less range. When hurt, take cover until your health and shields regen and use Pull on red health enemies to quicken the + Melee to restore shields quicker. Hose down enemies with shields to break them and then pull and smash.
Now.. Play ball!
