Remotely related, but: Didn't Bioware say they didn't want the players to treat the Kett as just the bad guys, but for us to actually feel empathy for them? I didn't. Anyone did? I did. The Archon went against orders. Sealed off communication from his superiors and forced his soldiers to do things they normally wouldn't want to, all in an attempt to control the Remnant. That must suck That and the fact that the Kett are actually Angara. I can't help but wonder if there's some part of them, somewhere that remembers who they once were, but with no way to express it.

Why, but Ryder DOES 'have a unique tool', which allows them to do things neither Kett nor Angara are capable of. This 'tool' is called SAM. How could the author miss this one?..

Really? I didn't think there was enough of variations, to be honest. Especially if you compare it to ME1 and how you could play Shepard who didn't trust aliens (though I admit there was couple of instances where that control was sort of taken away from the players, but back then it was more like the exception than the rule).
I felt like helping them was a waste of time. They're weak and thus not very useful allies, so what's the point? Might as well take what we need and offer them protection... on our terms.
Further more reason why it would've been so much better if the Pathfinders worked together from the start. They should've been Ryder's companions.
Over all not the best article I've read. I think the writer is making stuff out of nothing and over reacting to things. Of course this is their personal experience and opinion, nothing more. I was disappointed too, but not exactly for the same reasons.

That must suck That and the fact that the Kett are actually Angara. I can't help but wonder if there's some part of them, somewhere that remembers who they once were, but with no way to express it. There were actually a few datapads around the Kett bases on Voeld where Kett were describing experiencing fragments of memories from a former life, so I'd say yes.
