Starting my second playthrough, and I can't really tell which passives are in effect. I can choose any three powers, but are only the passives of the present profile in effect? Or are all the passives operating regardless of the chosen profile?

All of them. Once you unlock a passive in any power tree, it stays active regardless of your current profile.

All passive skills you put point into are always in effect. However, the passive bonuses of profiles you aren't currently using are not in effect.

And bonuses all stack, right? i.e. if you're getting bonus shields from a combat ability and bonus shields from a tech ability, they add together?
