Best fight in the series: Citadel DLC against those holo simulations. Make enemies that have the same range of powers and abilities as you...it was lame how Asari "vanguard" can only pull lousy warp on the player. It should be more party vs. party "boss fights" instead of going up against something humongous, like Architects or Human Reaper( usually having one or two massive damage attacks, heavily telegraphed and easily avoided once you learn their attack pattern).

Fuck boss battles. That is my most loathed part of games.

I did enjoy fighting architects, specially the one on Voeld where you need to watch out for your life support. But I gotta admit it was kinda repetitive, but it had its charm (unlike many OT boss fights. IMO)
In the original trilogy we had boss fights like:
1) Saren : Geth Hopper, anyone? 2)Shadow Broker : No challenge to me. Not a boss battle, but a boss that is on the battle, if you get what I'm saying 3)Tela Vasir: Nothing unususal here. Just keep hitting her while she biotic charges through the field. And you can even bypass the majority of the fight if you correctly time Liara's Stasis on her. 4)Tresher Maw : Again, no challenge. Cain? Yeah! No cain? Shoot him and not use the cover that can break. Even the Klixens were most challenging than it. 5)Shepard's clone, Citadel DLC: Now that's what I call a challenge. An enemy that regenarates shield and fight you with your own powers and tactics. Plus Rasa that uses Cloak. 6)Mirror Match : The best one ever. Pain in the ass, you gotta keep moving on the scenario, which makes you die a few times before actually knowing what you're up against where you are.
And yeah, I'm talking Insanity here.
And I did wish we had a final boss fight with the Archon himself, but the Relics were a pain in the ass, but there was no variety there. The same Nullifiers and the Architect head while defending point A, B, C or D.

I actually think those examples are the better ones. They had different phases that progressed with taken damage and changed the flow of the encounter. They didn't change anything at all. All they did was hit you with slightly stronger attacks and move a little faster than normal. Nothing they did required anything more than strafing and pew pewing for 10 minutes. Or in the case of the human reaper - hide and shoot - hide and shoot. You just turn off your brain and shoot the glowing areas over and over and over and over. Boss fights have always been mediocre in Mass Effect and they always will be even on insanity. Even a game like Destiny does a better job at boss battles. Chrono Trigger had better battles for goodness sake and that game came out in 1995. Then again it's better than most modern games anyway... I agree with the bold parts. Not so much with the rest.

The bosses need something unique about them.
They need variety.
When you fought a boss in Lotro they were always unique and challenging.
This console RPG has two bosses. Ascendants and Architects. And you fight each of them about 6 times.
So that's twelve times, fighting the same two, easy-peasy lemon squeezies.
I couldn't believe it when I got to the end of the game and there was that one last encore mission. To kill, yet another one.
I could. Not. Believe it.
I've played so many bloody RPG's and I've never seen anything so ridiculous.
This is even worse than the Inquisition dragon fights. At least with the dragons they had subtle differences.
But this game is literally cut and paste, in your face. Same bosses over and over.
