What's your tech? (Milky Way, Remnant, or Helius?)

A bit of everything.

I love the Naladen Sniper Rifle. Damage isn't even that good, but it's a sniper rifle... that shoots explosions, pretty much.
Remnant Cryo Gauntlet is the best melee weapon in the game. Not because of the damage, but because it freezes and that's just awesome.
The Valkyrie is my favourite Assault Rifle. I'm gonna try not to use it

As for armor, I mix and match. Heleus Defender helmet, Remnant Heritage chest, and whatever armor gives the best stats for my main skillset for arms and legs (N7 this time around)

While not by design, I ended up using the Milky Way technology more often than not.

When it comes to weapons my first and foremost concern is the sniper rifle. Beam weapons are not an option, because they force me to leave cover for an extended period of time. Plasma weapons are not an option because the projectiles are slower, I need the weapon to hit instantaneously. That leaves me with Angaran and Milky Way tech. The most easily available weapon which I like is the Viper, which does not need to be researched. Towards the end-game, when the weight of the weapon doesn't matter anymore, it's the Black Widow.

When it comes to armor, the Heleus armor is nice, but you cannot squeeze as many augmentations into it, since it doesn't have separate arms or legs. I stuck with the Pathfinder Armor. The Maverick armor would have been an option for my infiltrator as far as the stats are concerned, but I found it too ugly to consider. I only created one set and never touched again.

When it comes to the secondary weapon I primarily used an assault rifle and that's an exception because I ended up using a remnant weapon. Beam weapons with unlimited ammo are just fine for a close range rapid fire backup weapon.

For the melee weapon I tried a few... but once I tried the asari sword, no other melee weapon was even worth consideration. So Milky Way for the melee weapon as well.

The non-Milky Way stuff has some very interesting features, but for a solid weapon that gets results Milky-Way tech is best.

I strongly prefer AI tech, appearance wise, but I use whatever works. I like the Sweeper AR, though it doesn't seem any better than a Hornet SMG. The Isharay is a good SR, though I still like the Black Widow best, as a total package. I am not a fan of angaran nor remnant armor. They look silly, in my opinion, excepting the Heleus Defender/Icon armor. That looks solid on Sara, and slightly less solid on Scott. The Angaran Ranger Armor, though, makes Ryder look like s/he is playing dress-up.

What would I need to collect to do a lot of Remnant stuff? I'd like to try a thematic PT with nearly all Remnant tech

Milky Way tech, partly augmented with some heleus and remnant. The one exception is the Isharay sniper rifle that I crafted. I like to think of it as some sort of honorary gear.

Atm, Helius especially Kett as for a soldier they have the right gear. Thokin is the best full auto assault rifle, Dhan one of the best shotgun, Kett armor has weapon and combat power damage and Lanat is a excellent sniper.

When it comes to weapons, mostly Milky Way ones but I'm opening up to some nice Kett weapons too, as for armor I kinda used every single one for a little bit.

Milky Way mostly. I did, this last time through, spend almost all of my Heleus and Remanent research points at least. Finished the game before I had a chance to really craft something and try it out, but I'll do that next time, for certain.

I will say that I'm going to stick to the Pathfinder armor set. Fits my narrative better.

I like the idea of using the enemy's weapon against them, which is the principle behind Jaal's rifle, but they're ugly as sin so I don't use them. 

Kett gear is one of the worst things about this game.
