It isn't angry Hawke, technically, but aggressive/direct Hawke, which I think is an apt descriptor overall. Maybe that's why it seems watered down? I really like aggressive Hawke, as it seemed to fit my 2H warrior well, but I agree with you that in some cases, the aggressive response is inappropriate. (Although, that's also true of diplomatic and sarcastic in other cases.) I don't think I'd be able to stick with a single personality 99% of the time, personally. You just need to choose it enough for that personality to come through in autonomous responses, anyway I'm being sarcastic with Isabella, Bethany, and Anders. I want to be friends with the first two, and rival mance Anders. But I'd read that if you're angry at Anders, he won't flirt with you; as I want to see the romance where he's the aggressor as opposed to me going after him from the first conversation. Flirt free, sarcasm, rivalmance with Anders is my goal. I'm probably disappointed because I am attempting to role play a Dexter like sociopath who gets off on murdering people in cold blood. So, after a dagger to Lord Harrimand's head, this Hawke spent a gold at the Blooming Rose. Oh well. I love Dragon Age too much to not have a good time no matter the outcome. This... probably shouldn't be making me laugh, but it is. Although if that's your objective, maybe aggressive plus pro-slavery would do it?

I was planning on this Hawke ti make Orana into a house slave when it came up later. The idea being, if it benefits him, then great. If it benefits and leads to a kill, even better to slate the blood lust. I don't see him selling Fenris off, not sure he would see the benefit. Oyher than those two chances, are there other places where slavery really comes up?

I think the only time I'm not SarcastiHawke is if I'm gaming the system in the early going to get the "diplomatic resolution" to the Dalish/Former-Werewolf confrontation on the Wounded Coast. After that... it's all snark all the time.

The Dalish quest was the main reason I went diplomatic in my last game, and then I just stuck with it. Much prefer snarky Hawke though.

For sure there is Feynriel's first quest where I think you can make a deal with a slaver.

I never watched the show, but doesn't Dexter just kill bad guys? It's a long show and there is a season or two where he questions the Killing Parameters his father gave him. Spoiler-- His bio brother nearly tempts him to kill his adopted sister the first season. And in a later season, he was thinking he may go on the run, and randomly killed a guy in a men's bathroom. I think because he was annoying. But mostly I meant Dexter like in that he feels the need to and enjoys murder. No fatherly parameters apply. My back story doesn't have Hawke finding out he likes to kill until he joins King Cailan's army; Papa Hawke is dead already.

For sure there is Feynriel's first quest where I think you can make a deal with a slaver. I had Fenris heart grab him into fessing up the location. Then, as he stood shaking in fear and asked if he could go- Hawke said "I'm done with you." And knifed him on the spot. It got me a +10 friendship with Fenris but suited my Hawke murderer so well I couldn't RP it any other way. Plenty of chances to get rival points later. then that chance to bargain with the other slaver, since I played a rogue you can just toss your dagger and murder knife that guy too.

I like a mix of dialogue depending on the situation and my Hawke, but sarcastic is my favorite because it's just so much fun. (Sarcastic/diplomatic is canon.) It's fun to jump around with the choices, though. One time Hawke was all over the place in auto-dialogue because I wasn't consistent in my picks so I got a bit of a random assortment of all three.

That particular line in MotA is auto-dialogue after clicking on a scenery hotspot. Whichever personality Hawke favors will determine the response. I believe the diplomat replies with "Murder." Such a buzz-kill. That reply doesn't really make sense to me, even for Blue!Hawke If it's murder, why are you still going out and doing it after all these years? It seems pretty hypocritical for Hawke to look upon it with disdain only to carry on doing it. Perhaps a better response, though also not funny, would have been "Self-defense."

Okay, my first PT was Diplomatic with occasional dips elsewhere.
My second PT was Sarcastic with occasional dips elsewhere.
And my third PT was Direct/Aggressive with occasional Sarcastic.
I'd have to say Sarcastic Hawke is the best for the laughs. But I also enjoyed my Aggressive Hawke way more than I thought. It was refreshing, to be so direct. No filter. Also, so many people being stupid, not enough time to call them out on it, ya know? Although Varric kinda hates Aggressive Hawke whereas he LOVES Sarc Hawke.
So, Sarc Hawke with a close second for Angry Hawke. Diplo Hawke is good for those sad moments, like when the Keeper dies, though. But I probably won't much revisit that kind of Hawke.

Okay, my first PT was Diplomatic with occasional dips elsewhere. My second PT was Sarcastic with occasional dips elsewhere. And my third PT was Direct/Aggressive with occasional Sarcastic. Same here. Come to think of it, my first playthroughs in both DA and ME (and in other games as well) were usually very much paragon-like. I get nastier later on, with a fully evil playhtough still ahead of me

I absolutely love Purple Hawke on so many levels: when his/her lines are funny, they're hilarious, and when they're not, they still make me laugh awkwardly in second-hand embarrassment. But what I love most about Purple Hawke is that, at least IMO, it becomes clear throughout the story that s/he uses humour as a coping-mechanism and as an emotional crutch, which fits the DA2 setting to a T. And Nick Boulton in particular nails it! Always a joy to play - particularly when you mix in some Aggro lines in strategic moments.
Then again Aggressive and Diplomatic Hawkes also have their moments. I have had so much fun playing a Diplo!Hawke because s/he's so obviously in a completely wrong game that the cognitive dissonance of it almost turns most of the quests into farce: I had a blonde and blue-eyed, sweet-faced, almost angelic Diplo!Hawke... who just happened to be a 2H warrior. It was hilarious watching him trying to talk everyone into hugging it out and holding hands, with one of those ridiculous looking huge swords strapped on his back, and then, when it didn't work (which was pretty much all the time) he just seemed to shrug and decide to diffuse the situation with strategic dismemberment. Maker, that was one hilarious play-through. I've also had play-through with Aggro!Hawke and what I love about him/her is the way s/he's just completely done with everyone's shit. And his/her bloodlust sometimes makes his/her dialogue hilarious, in the slightly disturbing kind of way.
