Couldn't sleep the second day in a row, lots of waking up and rolling around in the bed, I guess I've been lifting weights too hard lately, gonna have to back down a week or so. My spirit is willing but my flesh is weak.

Doing them between 20:30-21:30 and then trying to sleep at 23 would make me sleep but I would wake up like 0:30 and be totally wide open eyes and "ants" all over the body even after doing some stretching. I learnt not to do training so late.

I find if I do exercise later at night, I can't sleep, and when I finally get to sleep, a lot of waking and tossing and turning. I've been doing heavy lifting an hour before bed for the last 12 years, and it never caused me any problems, I can always sleep like a baby afterwards. Only when the intensity of my training outruns my ability to regenerate I run into all sorts of problems, like bad sleep quality. I have to back down with either the weights, the amount of repetitions or have to space out the training days, like training only every other day. With me its always the central nervous systems that starts to give first, lifting especially heavy weights is extremely hard work for for the brain, not just muscles. Bodybuilders don't have that problem, its a strength athlete issue.

Pretty intense day with lots of (redundant) discussions, and it also started way too early for my liking. But it's all good because I can count on my colleagues to keep my spirits up by gifting me chocolate and tagging me in memes. (Yes, I am a simple woman.)

Purchased a bottle of Bunnahabhain Moine the other day. Figured I'd try it and see if it's as good as Bunnahabhain's normal stuff (my favorite Whiskey). Moine is supposed to be more smoky. Today, I finally got around to taste it. Well, the familiar Bunnahabhain taste is there underneath the peat alright, but didn't like it. For a smoky Scotch Single Malt, I like Caol Ila better. This "Moine" is not like Laphroig, but there is still too much tar. What really kills it is the aftertaste, which is "poisonous". I guess I'll keep the bottle and fool around with it for awhile. I'll pour it out in the drain if I need the space. P.S. edit: ...Well... ...Actually... ...I think I can get used to this. Aftertaste doesn't seem so bad, after all. P.S.2 edit: - This is excellent stuff! Don't know what was wrong with me.

Couldn't sleep the second day in a row, lots of waking up and rolling around in the bed, I guess I've been lifting weights too hard lately, gonna have to back down a week or so. My spirit is willing but my flesh is weak. You've got too much stress hormones in your body for some reason. Exercise should help you get rid of it, rather than causing it. Perhaps if you change the exercise? Lighter weights, more reps. Or run a bit. Or try doing it earlier in the day. Is your pulse even and nice? I had sleeping problems many years ago. But I had a different job then. Since I switched employer, it only took a while and then I've been sleeping like a baby. And now, of course, I'm my own employer, and with no responsibilities. You should absolutely make an effort of NOT thinking about things that annoy you, trouble you or make you angry, as you go to bed. I find that if I think about plots or scenes for the stories I try to write, I paradoxically go to sleep immediately. Another thing that always worked for me was thinking about math, trying to entangle the math in some engineering problem. That put me to sleep. Something closely related, that didn't, and rather kept me awake all night, was thinking about algorithms. If I got into that track, I could just as well get up and start to sketch and write things down, because nothing else would kill it. Even beginning to think about personal plans for something, politics or persons you don't like, is a mistake. Also, if you haven't already, learn some basic meditation techniques. Even at a very beginner stadium (I've never gone further), it can break through a vicious circle of thinking about stressful things and put you to sleep.

Asking me to relax is like asking an atomic bomb to be a little less explosive. I'm terrible at relaxing despite having sincerely tried a ton of exercises, the only thing that works for me is spending so much energy I have none left to stay awake. Music works a little bit too, but not all that much.

Had some fun at the shooting range, shot an AK-47, my trusty Henry .44-40 lever action standing at 50 unsupported, and shot very well. Also had a nice little chat with a girl who is quite a good shot. Having a conversation about guns with a woman = s-tier.

Since it made no longer sense to hold onto the money I saved for a loooong trip to Iceland I spent it on a full quality simulation racing cockpit, a proper steering wheel and a new 32'' 4k screen instead.- I also did this to prevent death by boredom in the coming months. Proper racing cockpit, all steel design, sturdy enough to contain my heavy body. Thrustmaster T300 ferrari edition. The wheel is belt-driven and has very good force feedback, it totally feels like a real car steering wheel. A proper adjustable 3-pedal set comes with it. Thrustmaster H-pattern shifter. 7 gears + reverse. A proper screen, 4k, 32'', curved. I have always been a big rally racing buff, here is me driving a stage in the sim racing game ''Dirt'' with my old setup.

Thanks! Damn Beet, i don't even play racing sims, and I'm jelly and envious. Maybe you should give it a go, there are some very good and realistic games out there, it is very addictive. Taking a 400HP racing car for a spin through narrow snowy country roads in Sweden or blasting down the straight in Le mans with 400 kmh / 243 mpH in a 900 horsepower group-c race car is WAY fun.

Realized/found out that my personal, private desktop computer is now 9 (nine) years old. ...But, but, but, ...- It's FINE!? - Just fine! I'll have a hard time justifying to myself, building a new one. Normally, before this latest, I used to build a new PC every 3 years. But this 6-core PhenomII, HD6970, 16GB, 8TB with 30" 16 X 10 2560x1600 is still just fine. No problems. I'll probably build a new one anyway, because it's always better to do while the old still works. But how can I stop using this perfectly fine PC?

I'll probably build a new one anyway, because it's always better to do while the old still works. But how can I stop using this perfectly fine PC? I'm in the same boat....and not 3 months ago I purchased a 2080 Super FTW 3 Ultra Gaming (then 6 weeks later, the 3080s come out for less than what I paid for my 2080 Super!) So that's a bit of a p.o. But even still, I'm running a 6850 K on an X-99 platform with a 4K monitor and can still achieve a moderately stable 60 FPS with all Settings for all my games on Ultra......And, really, there isn't a whole ton of difference between my 6850 K and even the newest 10 series, except for perhaps the cache size and the actual die size. The clocks run maybe 200 Mhz faster but that difference is negligible in the big picture, so minimal it wouldn't be noticeable. Bottom line is as appealing as the new tech is....I'll bet I can run this rig (even when newer games come out like Jedi Fallen Order 2....whenever that's released) and be perfectly happy. As enticing, teasing, tempting and frustrating as it is when new tech comes out and you want to upgrade to have the latest and greatest.....when I stop and think of what games I play now, how well they run even with everything maxed out at 4K.....then factor in the performance difference of new stuff for the cost.....It doesn't make any sense to upgrade "just because". And really, I have to draw the line somewhere, say enough is enough and just be happy with what I have (which I am, very much so).....Until my current set-up really does start showing its age and either breakdown or run things so slowly that it would be better off building something new. That hasn't happened yet, and I suspect it won't for propably at least another four or five years.

I'm doing an archeological dig in my two "studies/workrooms". Due to lots and lots of work for many, many years, there has been effectively zero time spent on keeping order in my home offices or hobby rooms or whatever we should call them. Books, magazines, catalogues, papers, tools, thingys, electronics, cables, art material have stacked up everywhere. Everywhere where I could just lay it down. Also, I've been forced to move some stuff and bookshelves at a couple of times to make space for carpenters working on windows and masons removing a hole down into the cellar, which further complicated the 'order' or lack thereof. I've spent a few hours now and then, for a couple of weeks, picking through stuff. Today, however, I had moved through the superficial layers. It started to get interesting and I felt some real enthusiasm. I slugged onward for five hours. It's like parts of my life coming back to me. I've found precious books I've been missing for a long time but knew would be somewhere. And exciting books I had forgotten. Magazine I had no idea I had. Papers with lots of interesting info I had planned to read some time. - And cassette tapes with music! I turned on my old little Sony sound system for the first time in a very long time and was astounded by the rich quality of the sound that filled the room. The CD revolver was fully charged, ready to play. I let it play. - And I found stuff!.. I found some awful Inoxchrome and Sakura pens, fountain pens ofc, that I bought a very long time ago when I was young. They were garbage and I soon replaced them with Parker Vectors, but I had no idea I had kept them. I found prizes from competitions I won . I found my XBox and PS consoles and stuff for them. Hope I can figure out how the cables connect. Haven't reached the games yet, but they should be there somewhere. There was a bad moment too. I was shocked into a state of mourning. But it's alright. They were made from stardust. They're always home. This has been a fun experience and I have days more of this before I'm done.

It's 10:22 a.m. and my ears have been ringing loudly enough to throw me off balance. I suspect today is a day that, at some point I will be whammied.
Luckily my GP has given me some medication to help with the worst symptoms, and my coworkers are all extremely supportive.

My archeological dig is reaching its end. I have only about a foot depth left on two tables and in one couch. I have found many things, but also remembered some things which I've still not found. Among those things I've found, there are also a lot of books I didn't knew about. The way that worked, was that I saw them in a bookstore while I was shopping, and thought, "interesting". Picking up several such, then reading only one when coming home, leaves me with forgotten books somewhere. Now I'm tired, and thinking about putting together some fleets in 'Hearts of Iron', but dunno, I'm not so keen now. I think I'll maybe read something instead.

Went for a walk because I'm slowly but steadily going crazy from staying so much indoors. My phone says I did 10400 steps. Apparently I'm supposed to do 10k steps every day to stay healthy - That's 100+ minutes of walking! That wouldn't only get incredibly dull in no time, who the hell has time for that?

Well, no one who is both working and having something resembling a normal life on the side 🤔 . ...But try, if you have to, to stay healthy.
I've hiked a lot in my life, not just in the military. The problems are that you have to eventually mourn the dogs you take (my sister's), because pets always dies. ...And you may get bitten by a snake far away from civilization.
I do long walks, still. And I do mean long, longer than yours, hours. It's nice. It's a form of meditation, really untangles your mind. It's good for writing. Clears up problems and adds details to your story. And makes you refocus on the story you wanted to tell, instead of the mess you went astray on.
