My top class is human infiltrator. Pirahna and sticky build, I can kill a bezerker on gold easily (within say 10 seconds). Can take out a hydra easily in under 30 seconds, solo.
Stickies getting the two second cloak beaker attack deals obscene spike damage which trivialises the challenge of gold. Not only that but has excellent survival by dodging to break aggro, 25% clip size passive, debuf of 24% with focus fire, a useful one pointer in incinerate which can catch mooks on fire to stun... definitely an S tier class IMHO.
The salarian is also good with shield drain but lacks other survivability and is in my opinion better with stickies due to passives, but just feels squishy because of the passives compared to the human, who I like to run and gun with.

The only S-tier character is without a doubt the salarian architect.

I don't like anyone with a tech construct other than the insurgent, so they are bottom tier.
There is a middle tier that is massively populated. These classes tend to either have good survival skills or good damage skills, but usually not both.
For the final tier, if I have to pull some classes from the fold, I would probably includes just classes with strong damage and survival (asari adept, infiltrators, insurgent, avenger, human vanguard). These are the classes I feel like an idiot if I die repeatedly AND I expect to do a lot of hurt.
I would probably add the operator to the list of top tier if I had played it.

Tech constructs might be good now, though! the remnant VI changes look pretty extraordinary. the missiles evo will allow it to fire an AOE missile every 5 seconds that detonates and also deals 450 damage (which is more than a fully damage specced lance)

I've found that I can do pretty well in Gold as long as I stick with of the humans, Turians, Angarans, Asari, Salarians, or Krogans.

Invasion is REALLY REALLY good. And Shield Boost lets you facetank just about everything the game throws at you, within reason (still use smart soft cover where applicable). I've been running him with a Hurricane III but hoping to find a worthwhile Assault Rifle someday.
