I played until the end of the intro mission on v2.0. Does blunt weapon tag including unarmed? Because otherwise unarmed isn't supported by any perks now. I'm not sure I understand some of the changes: - Why did they reduce "loot" exactly? - Why does shooting cost stamina? - The new clothing system means the wardrobe is basically useless outside no having to keep an item to continue wearing it in the future if you swap for a while or don't want to show your ballistic vest. - Why change the name of the "skill progression" tracks and forget to list what action raise which one(s)? - Heal and item usage on cooldown instead of keeping stacks, why? How do I get the different version now, like smoke grenades? - armor tied to cyberwares, that means we have to chrome up now...sad. I almost got killed in the intro mission... Anyway, going back to Starfield, feels more fun than this to play. Unarmed is supported by the Blunt perks. Tested it and you can do the Quake with just your regular fists. To get different grenades or healing items you bring up the weapon wheel and cycle through. Thanks, so we get all the different grenade/healing type items from the get go, no need to buy anything. I guess that is a good change.

Yeah, the only time you need to buy grenades or healing items is if you want a higher tier but you find those easily enough just exploring and playing. Especially since it gets rid of the tier of the type you just got from the options, so you won’t find an Uncommon Frag Grenade if you already have Uncommon or higher instead being a tier or type you haven’t upgraded yet.

I thought this would be a good time to finally hop into Cyberpunk, so I grabbed it and Phantom Liberty and am about 4 hours in and ... it's amazing. The immersion is unreal. I'm both sad and happy I didn't play this sooner.
Uggggggh I want to play more tonight but I have to work tomorrow GDI. Going with a pistol build, the only thing I'm unhappy with so far is only being able to respec once. Hated it in Path of Exile, hate it here too. I guess I can work around it.

He's not wrong about this. Cyberpunk as a genre is very much a warning to the audience consuming it, it is dark and brutal by nature in an attempt to get you "wake the fuck up samurai" and try to do whatever you can to prevent society from going down that path. It's very much so not a setting you would want to live in, as it's a sad dystopian shit hole by design. Not everyone can handle that, obviously. Mass Effect is definitely more light-hearted (which is strange to say about a series about war, brainwashing and genocide) Basically just imagine ME3's Sanctuary level of disgust for 80 hours and you'll get the idea. If anything. I would watch the Edgerunners anime first (if you haven't yet) to see if you find it even remotely interesting. Yeah, I know. I can deal with dystopian, it's just that I really don't like gore. So if there's too much blood I don't want to play (or watch) it. There was one scene in BG3 that was straight up fucked up horror game Silent Hill style that took me by surprise. Sheesh. Took a while to get the images out of my head. I'm mostly worried about gameplay and combat specifically. Nothing I saw of the promo stuff back in the day was appealing. I'm basically interested because CDPR and RPG. I'll have to see. It will probably be fine but might not end up a game I love. That's fine. Good story with shitty gameplay (to me) might still be a worthwhile investment, lol.

The only thing I'm unhappy with so far is only being able to respec once. Hated it in Path of Exile, hate it here too. I guess I can work around it. Only attributes are a one time thing (without PC mods). Perks can be refunded at will individually and you should focus your attributes based on the build you want to play early on. The system isn't designed to make jack-of-all-trade or try everything on a single character. Going by my little experience with the new skill system, players should start with at least 4 in every attributes at character creation with the remaining points spent on the build main attribute with maybe a splash of Tech for better starting armor (Int for netrunner, Body for shotguns/LMG/blunt weapons/unarmed, Reflex for blades/rifles/submachine guns, Cool for sniper rifles/precision rifles/handguns/throwable weapons). Tech is for armor/health items mostly since tech weapon/chrome perks are so far up the tree, it's a complementary attribute. Early on it's easy to just focus level up attribute point into another main attribute if you wish to switch build. Also, no builds really come "alive" until like level 20. He's not wrong about this. Cyberpunk as a genre is very much a warning to the audience consuming it, it is dark and brutal by nature in an attempt to get you "wake the fuck up samurai" and try to do whatever you can to prevent society from going down that path. Most of the dismemberment and finishers happens on cyberware/heavily chromed enemies and the "blood" is more often white goo as a result. There are also perks that increase chance/unlock finishers now. Also, blunt weapon/unarmed is none-lethal (unless you hit a KO-ed enemy, that kills them). Not much gore outside of combat and the gore is mostly with Blades because slicing, followed by shotguns. BG3 has more gore and horror elements than Cyberpunk 2077 really.

So where do I have to put points so I can hack terminals? They're all greyed out for me and I have 10 points in tech. Maybe it's intelligence I need to upgrade.

It's Intelligence, all netrunning (hacking, breaching, etc) is governed by it. Tech increase armor and has perks for cyberware, tech weapons, grenades and healing items.

Not much gore outside of combat and the gore is mostly with Blades because slicing, followed by shotguns. BG3 has more gore and horror elements than Cyberpunk 2077 really. Yeah BG3 started fairly innocent with pretty bright environments but then act 2 was like a horror game. It is a very gory game but for the most part it's fine because the gore is not "live". Like, I do fine if there's a mutilated corpse on the floor as long as I'm not the one dismembering anybody. I can just not look closely at all the dead mutilated bodies. It's doing it myself that can get very not fun. Fallout took some getting used to with all the body parts flying off, lol. I've grown somewhat desensitized since then. Back when I played Mass Effect for the first time I was grossed out by the headshot gore. Cute. *g* My main triggers if you want to call them that are torture and excessive blood flying everywhere with realistic sounds and screams. Fallout is caroonish enough to be fine or even funny sometimes. Reading about it in a note or a novel is totally fine. There's not much that phases me anymore. I've read incredibly fucked up shit. It's not the themes, it's the presentation and interactivity. I cannot play horror games but I watch horror movies if they're not a total gore frenzy like most zombie movies and games. Hate those. Sorry for rambling. I'll know if I like the game when I play it. The narrative and roleplaying choices will be the key factor, I think. Thanks for your input, guys!

I've been desensitized to gore from an early age. By that I mean gore in films not that I grew up in some war torn country. But yeah as long as I can remember since at least the age of 5 I was raised watching zombie films with my dad lol. Yeah it's not good parenting but I grew up okay I think. But the most goriest zombie flick I ever seen is 'Day of the Dead'. It's was made back in the 80's.

I haven't bought the dlc yet but I have been reading the reviews @ GOG.com, and some of the verified reviewers mention the game can't be played offline, or that we have to watch a twitch stream first before playing the game. I do not know if any of this is true. It could just be disgruntled buyers or they still harbor anger towards the original release of Cyberpunk 2077. So is any of this true?

The expansion requires starting the game via GOG Galaxy to work from what I read, maybe that's what the "can't be played offline" means. No idea why someone is crying about having to watch a twitch stream first thought, I read there was (will be?) some twitch drops related to the new expac, but you can use a mod to add those rewards and they are optional anyway.

What about the Steam version? I was going to buy on GOG but after the crash disaster of BG3 via GOG I want to eliminate the possibility that something about that launcher is the root of all evil. But I guess Starfield on Steam this for me long weekend probably will confirm or deny that already.

Actually, the GOG version might not either, it's just people complaining they can't get it to load properly if they just use the offline installer. I can't test it, I always run my GOG games with Galaxy.

I'm able to launch it without Galaxy. People must be experiencing some other issue or they're being dumbshits. I don't think any game on GOG requires Galaxy

I also play through Galaxy I was just wondering if and when I buy the expansion, if I enjoy the base game and expansion I would download the offline installer like I did with all three Witcher games.

I don't own Phantom Liberty yet, but is that a bug exclusive to the dlc? Or the base game? Because I played a bit of the base game last night (made it as far as to meeting Dex), but I did not have the problems you mentioned in your post.

Without spoilers what is everyone's opinion on Phantom Liberty? Is it any good or worth the price? I am going mainly by what people say here and the verified owner reviews @ GOG.com, since that's where I bought Cyberpunk 2077. So yeah did it improve gameplay? Is the story any good? I never finished Cyberpunk 2077 so I don't know, but does the expansion take place after the main story, before, or during? How does it run for you? I know the system requirements have been increased, I do meet them but my card while capable of some of the fancy graphic options is not strong enough to enable all of the options. I just don't want the expansion to burn a hole through my PC. Are there any game breaking bugs or glitches?

Most of the gameplay improvements and changes come free with 2.0 update The story is everything a spy thriller in a Cyberpunk story should be, I liked it quite a lot. The expansion takes place during the main game, opens up right after your dealings with the Voodoo Boys. However, depending on choices in the expansion story, a new ending for the whole game is available (it made me even more depressed than the base endings tbh) Don’t know of any specific game breaking bugs atm…

Heimdall Thanks for the input as for the ending I never finished the base game, since I got distracted when I first played the game. I have been doing a second playthrough when I am not playing Starfield or Baldur's Gate 3. I haven't bought Phantom Liberty yet just want to see what people who actually bought and played the dlc think about it.

To answer when you should play it, most people say it fits best during Act 3 so after you pursue the three leads of Act 2. So mid to late game. It fits better there since it kinda of feels like this is V’s last shot. Also do plenty of side quests since some NPCs from those can appear and be involved in certain parts.

Hopefully soon there will be a list of all the main game characters that can show up so I can better plan a playthrough.
