I just noticed you can pre-order the game. Good since it means there's a release date and we all know it's actually coming in a reasonable time-frame, but why would anyone pre-order a game one year in advance? Heck, why would anyone pre-order at all? It's not as if you miss anything by waiting, if not until release, at least until more is known about the game in detail.
As for the game's RPGness, I'm not worried, at least not beyond what I'd be about any other similar game. I think they just wanted to avoid the term, because it seems that's a turnoff for a certain large gamer demographic out there.

There is nothing to gain from preordering. You just can't use the money you commit. And if it turns out shit you likely won't get it back. I guess is like gambling on roulette table that turns for a year - maybe it kicks some thrill triggers in ppl's minds.

Hm, I'm not sure how keen I am about Keanu Reeves's character being an illusion in the protagonist's head. Could be lame like Andromeda's SAM. Or it could be like the illusion of Elvis in True Romance, that would be really cool. It's something I hope they use sparingly, which, given how much they're paying him per line, is very likely.

RSP preview...looks like they were unimpressed (and it contains some spoilers). Okay just read this article. People are entitled to their opinions and all, but CyberPunk will most likely be a gritty and violent game. This person who wrote this seems like they have a problem with the violence and brings up their weird racial emotions, like they're trying to say the game is racist or something, stating: "At this point, I feel increasingly uncomfortable that we’re shooting at predominantly black people labelled as animals." and "I’m also increasingly concerned about Cyberpunk’s handling of non-white cultures." I mean do this guy know that cyberpunk was written by a black man and the Voodoo boys are in the PnP and this is how they are portrayed? That's the name of the gang and how they represent themselves, and if this person had knowledge of the Cyberpunk universe he would know different gangs have specific themes they base their gangs on and that's how they affiliate with each other. Example: there's a gang called Bozos in the PnP and they are "biosculpted" to look like clowns, and they act like clowns as well. This is some of what made the PnP really good, it always sort of had this over the top nature about the lore. But anyway the game is not for everyone, I would caution if you dislike over the top violence this is not the game for you. Or at the very least take a look at some cyberpunk lore videos to get acquainted with the atmosphere.

RSP preview...looks like they were unimpressed (and it contains some spoilers). Well...I am unimpressed by that preview. He complains about there not being enough info about the questions that interest him, yet does the same in his preview: no information about the things in the game I'd be interested in (which some other previews have), and lots of irrelevant stuff.
As I see it, the things I would want to know most are deep into spoiler territory and likely won't be known before the game is out, and about everything else things look reasonably good from my point of view.

You forgot the part where the Voodoo Boys were* made predominantly of white men bio-sculpted into black men... Probably better to not share that, people are going to scream "blackface". *changed are to were, as the game version is made of actual Haitians going by a dev interview I read.

Pacifist run possible? Awesome! Now I'm a bit less worried the game will not be to my liking after all. I really DON'T like all the gritty uber violence and I'm not much into cyberpunk settings in general. CDPR is why I'm excited, not the game itself. It looks technically impressive but not emotionally engaging so far. The more I see of it the less I feel like I'm going to enjoy the gameplay... This could turn into a major disappointment. So I'm hoping for enough play style options to allow for something I can actually enjoy. Because what they're showing isn't it in terms of combat... I agree in that I'm not hugely enthusiastic about "gritty" violence or cyberpunk. I don't mind some action in video games, but I don't generally play to see "awesome" animations of ripping people's spines out or something like that - I prefer more of a self-defense or military context for the action where I can get through without shooting at anybody who isn't already shooting at me. As for the setting, high fantasy isn't my favorite either, but since CDPR managed to make that engaging and rewarding in the Witcher trilogy, I figure I'll give them a chance to impress me with this too. I hope that I have at least as much control over my character's personality as I did with Geralt's, and preferably something more in the ME/DA range. If the dialogue is mostly just "OK, I'll do your quest" and "no, I won't do yours," I'll probably be disappointed.

But anyway the game is not for everyone, I would caution if you dislike over the top violence this is not the game for you. Or at the very least take a look at some cyberpunk lore videos to get acquainted with the atmosphere. This so much. Good advice. I absolutely love everything I saw with the previous gameplay, and I absolutely love everything I learned about this game. The visceral and grounded atmosphere and the lore of Cyberpunk being among the things that make me very hyped about it. I'd be surprised with everything we learned and saw with the previous gameplay that people could still think - if they absolutely hate violence and hate seeing violence -, that game could be for them. It's already obvious with both the cinematic trailer and the first gameplay which have been shown. Just wait, watch and see. But complaining about it is just weird to me. That's clearly a part of the DNA of that game. I personally can't stand the over the top ridiculous atmosphere of Final Fantasy, the style of its world and characters, but I don't go on their forums or I don't watch their trailers and gameplay videos, complaining about it. I just totally ignore that franchise, because i know it's not for me, and I am just looking for other games that would more fit my tastes. I'm also just going to ignore any " personal opinion " from any professional reviewer or newspaper. I don't need them, I have my eyes, and my judgement based on trailers, content and neutral informations. I can't wait for this game.

It's already obvious with both the cinematic trailer and the first gameplay which have been shown. Well, those of us who are fans of RPGs with dialogue choices in general don't have a whole lot to choose from, at least among AAA titles, and CDPR carries a certain amount of good will from the Witcher trilogy (which was certainly violent but not in an over-the-top or sadistic way).

Well there is outer worlds that will be released this year. The violence in that game isn't over the top. Plus the dialogue looks like it's going to be great, I'll be picking it as well as cyberpunk. I'd recommend that instead of cyberpunk.

Mr Silver Reeves seems to be one of the main characters of the game. I am stoked about it for now. Though, I want to hear about more of how that is implemented. If he gets annoying, I'll just turn the efer off even though iI love him to bits.
As for the violence, I don't see the diff between dragon age decaps and this.
As for the rpg elements... Well, if you can finish the game without killing anyone then you bet that that is a major part of the game.

Haha I just had intense remarks with my partner yesterday about that. "Why even preorder? What's the purpose if you're buying digitally? How is this a thing people opt into?" I think my last preorder was a physical collectors edition ME3.

I'm not sure about going full-pacifist but if there are good times for me to holster my weapons, I'll probably do so.
This game is turning out to be... well not everything I've always dreamed to play, but something that I may end up confidently rating a 9+/10 and that's good enough for me! Every bit of news is either something that I don't really care about, really like the sounds of, or understand people's bother about it but it doesn't bother me (like 1st person perspective).
I subscribe to a feed of RPS articles for several reasons that make them a distinct publication to enjoy, but their cultural hot-takes tend to be amusing at best. And ironically culturally imperialist at worst.

Tell me I'm not the only one with the dirty mind when saw that middle poster on the first pic. Are you talking about the 'Mix it Up' poster? Yeah, that's some... interesting imagery. Some trans folk I've spoken to are rather... well, I could say 'uncomfortable', but that'd be an understatement.

PCGamer interview with lead quest design (Pawel Sasko). Full of spoilers about "Johnny" in the early questions, the rest is more design related (start at You mention your relationship with him can change. Is that true of a lot of the characters you interact with? to avoid spoilers). Interesting that there is a none-lethal options for pretty much every weapons (exception are stuff like bazooka in the face). update: CDPR also did a tumblr community Q&A, mostly gameplay related. Result here. Someone on Resetera made a transcript.

Just remember that a single CDPR community staff member making as simple a joke as: "Are you assuming their gender?" Have suddenly made the entire company transphobic and haters of the LGTB, etc etc etc. It is not worth speculating on the why, nothing good will come of it. More importantly, it does not matter. Some people, however, have theorised that the phallus shape on the poster may have been some shading gone wrong.

This is exactly why I want to know why people are upset. Is it just the fact that employee made a small joke and didn't understand the underlying meaning behind what he said? Or is it something else?
