It's tough. On the one hand, I rather enjoyed the more antagonistic relationship between Ryder and Sloane, but Reyes is a sneaky bastard who comes off as a better asset. Somehow being able to get both killed would have been fun though. Putting aside reducing herself to a shitty mob boss, that Sloane managed to lead an assault that ousted the Kett from Kadara is hat tip worthy. In the end though, I was too satisfied watching Sloane die a painfully dishonorable death.

I like both and I think there are points about keeping one vs the other on both sides.

While I don't hate Sloane, I knew I couldn't leave her in charge, either. There's no way to depose her without killing her, or I would try. The fact that I happen to love Reyes is beside the point, I swear.

Putting aside reducing herself to a shitty mob boss, that Sloane managed to lead an assault that ousted the Kett from Kadara is hat tip worthy. In the end though, I was too satisfied watching Sloane die a painfully dishonorable death. I was looking for a way to dethrone her or get her killed from shortly after talking to her the first time and seeing the extortion ring she was running. Reyes is a sneaky asset but I think that is just how he learned to function in that environment. IIRC he left with the exiles but wasn't actually one of them. Then saw opportunity and took it. If you talk to the collective in the cave, life in the collective seemed better than life under sloane or as an outlaw. I might be one of the few that was genuinely pleased when SAM said there was a sniper on Sloane. I felt that she only took the duel because she knew she could win and I was worried she would. Luckily he had that covered.

I didn't love or hate either. Sloane was a slightly better version of Aria and Reyes was cool. However Sloan made her intentions towards the intiative very clear and thus even as an ally shed probably stab you in the back

Don't care about either one. Wanted to kill Reyes and have Zia take his place, then have her take charge of Kadara's port

I've already said my opinion about that in other threads but here I go again.
The conflict between Sloane and Reyes was one of the greatest points of the game. Although, I think that that especific scene, where you have to save her or not, isn't very well written. It's not very clear that what you will decide to do has an immediate consequence. I though that more things would happen, but there wasn't anything else. It was a short scene for a very important plot point.
Said that, I saved Sloane 1) because the first thing I thought in that second was "My Ryder couldn't ever let someone die with a shot in the back, 2) I thought Reyes was absolutely dishonrable because of that, 3) Reyes was not worth of taking the power like that from someone "who built everything". Even if I didn't like Sloane very much and absolutely loved Reyes as a character, neither he or she is the best example of a good person.
My Ryder also romanced Reyes and I decided to let him go without shooting him because at the moment I thought he could come back sometime and he and my Ryder could confront each other about their feelings < I really hope this happens in a DLC or in ME:A2
Both Reyes and Sloane are very good characters and I want them back in the future.

Being a GoT fan, I loved the scene where Reyes cheated to win. So yeah naturally gave it to him.

Say what you want about her, she's a straight shooter. Reyes is much more likeable, yet I wouldn't trust him as far as I can throw him. He plays games, works angles. Wields deceit as a weapon. No way I would leave a colony under his watch.

Think this belongs in Spoilers. I agree. The problem is, most of the threads popping up in this subforum do too. It's a losing battle I'm afraid. The two subforums should be merged.

Sloane would stab you in the front, >Reyes would stab you in the back.
I'd rather have a foe I know, than a friend I can't trust.
My only regret is having left reyes alive. I will correct this in my second playthrough.

I saved Sloane. She is a tough woman but rather frank and predictable, I trust her to do what she says and I don't think she is really a bad person. Reyes is at the opposite a cold manipulative ***, I don't trust him. Besides, I refuse to let a man ready to stab someone in the back be rewarded.

Reyes is the cannon choice. If you save Sloane, she will die between installments and Reyes will come into power anyway. That is why Sloane is killable but you can only wound Reyes
I like Sloane as a character in a story, but there is no way my Ryder(s) can cooperate with a person like that. Reyes is pragmatic and understands the true value of cooperation and long standing arrangements. Sloane by contrast wants her cut in the here and now, and cannot be swayed by the inherent value of friendship and stability. This is also why my Ryders engage with Reyes romantically, to strengthen the bond and make it harder for him to betray the initiative in the future.

Interesting, my approach is exactly the opposite - Reyes lies through his teeth and seems an opportunist: the way he handled Sloane's assassination means he can't be trusted. I don't buy his romantic involvement at all, it seems to me a very typical, if not blatantly manipulative way of gaining Ryder's trust. Sloane is basically "what you see is what you get." I'll that instead Reyes' shifty attitude each and every time.

I liked Sloane more than Reyes. I felt he manipulated Ryder the whole time, and would just swap one dodgy regime with another. It's amazing how fast the people's cause can turn into yet another dictatorship.
With Sloane it's all laid out there. She's honest, you know how awful she is from day one. Better the devil you know right?

It doesn't get more slimy, backhanded and untrustworthy then Reyes. Lies to you at pretty much every oppertunity, pretends to be the good guy but has no problem with torture and ultimately, you'll be lining his pockets just as hard as you'll be lining Sloane's pockets, but at least Sloane is honest and straightforward about it. Reyes, he just uses you and tries to get in your pants.
What a *bleep*

This was a hard one for me on my first PT, I'd decided that I was going to depose Sloane from the get-go, but when it came down to the crux of it, seeing how cowardly Reyes acted, I quickly changed my mind, Sloan you can trust to hate the imitative, Reyes, you can't trust to like you. I feel that as soon as you become useless to him, he'll kill you, after all, look how quickly he offed his ex.
Just my opinion.

Interesting views here. I can't agree with the sentiment that Sloane is straightforward. Sloane betrayed the initiative in fantastic fashion, or so the security logs in operation say. She wants protection money for allowing an outpost. Reyes is a very nuanced character, he may have lied to Ryder but never betrayed her. He plans to benefit from the trade that will move through the port if there is a successful Initiative outpost. Now that is vague, it could mean duties/customs, it could also mean the collective will engage in trade themselves. So Sloane wants her piece of cake no matter what, while Reyes is motivated to make sure the whole cake is larger because his slice will grow or shrink with the cake. He has a vested interest in the outpost succeeding - and will be motivated to protect it.

The problem is perceived slights...and she just threatened to declare war on any intiative outpost. I'm not putting one under her watch.

For me so far Sloane has died twice. Who knows maybe "third" is her lucky number?

Sloane's only died once in my playthroughs, and that was just to 'break up' with Reyes and be a cunt to him
