What phoray said.
But for me that person is Cassandra. She was suspicious of you as heck at the beginning, but once proven innocent she defended you vehemetly against Chantry wishes to have you put on 'fair trial' (pfft.. yeah)
To (my Lavellan) she certainly came out as a KISA that saved her life from a precarious situation. Protected 'an elven nobody' from the 'authorities', befriends then up lifts her in the end.
Cass is pretty much.. that buddy that sticks with the main protag through thick and thin. They fought, bled, laugh and share meal by the camp and tell stories.
.. ahem.. (yes, I have a huge love for Cas. A LOOOVVVEEE my pixel buddies especially that dragoness on a dress)
So I felt her betraying you in the end would leave a nastier sting because of her being KISA and has a potential to be that companion that always come with you on missions.
While Cullen also holds an important position of Commander/Advisor, but him betraying you wouldn't hit as hard unless you romanced the dude, I guess.
... sorry if I get too carried away ^^' Just my 0.02 anyway

Blackwall? Nah, Blackwall wasn't who he said he was but his only agenda was to help the Inquisition. He sought self love and purpose in it. I want someone who is like a total KISA kind saving puppies with sword and shield turn out to be the spy slave of the biggest Tevinter Asshole Magister or Solas himself. Like if Cullen were to betray you. Whereas I want the Green Hornet done right for a change*. We encounter a Black Knight Imperial Reaver who by all accounts is an unrepentant racist-sexist-slaving-war mongering-drug dealing-baby eating monster, and Hopeless Boss Fight at that . Only by sparing and getting to know him will we find out that he's actually doing good undercover, and must break or commit when said cover is threatened. If we have to have a traitor, make them a Manchurian Agent this time, having a split personality and/or brainwashed. I don't count Yoshimo, since he was fully aware of being under a geas.
*The original pulp and radio era Green Hornet pretended to be a ruthless mobster in order to fight crime from within.

I'm cool with that. I guess all I'm saying is that I want it to be a surprise. If they want to pull a double agent who doesn't know he's a double agent on us, all the better. I want it to be a big surprise and I don't want it to be another mage.

Speaking of companions, I want Dorn. Huge. Evil. Likes killing people for personal gain and also for the lulz. Willing to follow you around and/or romance you because you're an unrepentant badass who'll bring the world to its knees and that's pretty hot. Gets salty if you start making eyes at drow.

Everybody wants me to do text based Let's Plays but they are time consuming. But I can't deny a request from such a well known DA Forum mate so when I start the thread, I'll tag you. (additionally, I admit, I love the attention and interacting with people as I experience a game they love for the first time is addicting.) But not yet, melbella and smilesja are waiting for me to finish my 2nd run of TW3 and the DLCs I haven't done at all. Well, now I feel special! And I can be patient, because VTMB is worth the wait. DID SOMEONE SAY VTMB!!!!!!!!? :dumb: #teammalkavian

I think that Flemeth will not only return, but possibly return (significantly weakened) as a party member.

As much as I'd like that (and the opportunity to grill her for information) she would have to have some kind of magical amnesia for that to make any kind of sense. As a temporary squaddie guiding us through a section of the game maybe... but not as a Solas. She's too established as a holder of mysteries and agent behind the scenes.

She's too established as a holder of mysteries and agent behind the scenes. I think that's fairly irrelevant. Whatever she doesn't want to tell you, she can just not tell you. Besides it ties with my theory/hope of a game in which you literally have to find a way to become a "god" in order to combat Solas.

It's why we're usually with squaddie's who are as much in the dark as we are.

Yep! But I can't tell if it comes with the Unoffical Patch, so don't forget this. P.S. if you end up liking it feel free to make a thread in the Other Games subforum so we can live vicariously through you... To quote Varric- "WEll. shit." It's a keyboard and mouse only game.

Not sure about 'god' - but I wouldn't be surprised if we'd have to make significant choices to deal with him. Perhaps there'd even be a world-state in which we can make a 'deal with the devil' kind of thing and - knowingly or not - face consequences for allying with certain entities or using certain powers in order to stop him. Alternatively, we'd have to make such decision after we stop him, to prevent something else/or perhaps something related from happening. Plot twist? Well... Solas does seem at times like he's grooming Inquisitor as his successor. Successor in what I'm not sure. But it'd likely feature some hefty choices.

Noooo! This game's been out for like fourteen years, I'm surprised they don't have a workaround for that yet?? Some kind of... mod? (Idk anything about using controllers for PC.) Well, that sucks. I can recommend a really excellent blind Let's Play if you're still curious about the setting but that's not the same as experiencing the majesty of Bloodlines for yourself.

WEll, when I'm ready to actually play the game, I'll let my hubby play as my hands since I can't handle keyboard/mouse games at all anymore. I hadn't known there were fixed appearance protags either. Off to Witcher the Witcher I suppose.

Solas does seem at times like he's grooming Inquisitor as his successor. Successor in what I'm not sure. But it'd likely feature some hefty choices. "After we stop him..." See normally I would see that also as a possible alternate world state... that we'll stop him. But that prophecy "the magic will come back, all of it..." it's not "they magic may come back, all of it" it's "will". Then there's not just the return of magic, there's a transformation of its people. I've said before it would be brave of Bioware to turn Thedas on its head like this. An abrupt reversal where humans are suddenly at the bottom of the heap and they have to maybe save Solas from the Evanuris... Some may say I'm too elven-centic but that's Bioware's fault. All ancient Thedosian history is tied to the elves. The power they had (and lost) changed everything.

Yeah, but Dorn wants in your pants so he wins in my book. From a certain point of view, Iron Bull could be seen as "Lighter and Softer" Dorn Il Kahn :
-Both are charismatic, pansexual warriors who love to fight. -Qunari are pretty much Dragon Age orcs, and Reavers are it's closest (so far) equivalent to Blackguards. -Both of them have loyalty and betrayal as major character issues. -If you believe that the Ben-Hassrath were testing Bull in Demands of the Qun , then whether he stays or becomes Tal-Vashoth could mirror Dorn's struggles with his patron demon Ur-Gothoz. In one twist, defeating Ur-Gothoz makes Dorn lose his Blackguard abilities, whereas Iron Bull staying with the Qun loses him the Chargers.
Never let it be said that Bioware doesn't like to rearrange their character tropes...

True! Maybe that's why I love him so much. (Sadly, he has to compete with Sera and I'm certified Sera trash so he's just gonna have to find love elsewhere. Lucky for him, that works out!) Also explains why I like Morrigan so much... she reminds me of Viconia. And Gannayev-of-Dreams is like the unholy lovechild of Solas and Zevran.

I found this idea silly until my 4th Warden who was supposed to be hyper intelligent and cynical and I was pretty sure he was flirting with her. Then he invited her to Qun land. This had happened to all prior Wardens, but I was playing a mage and thinking, "uh, I like you Sten. Gonna pass though."

That was Mary Kirby, Sten's writer. She joked that the romance was there, you just had to look for it. That said, while I do have a Warden in a so-called kadanmance with Sten (respect! Admiration! Doomed love!!1), him calling the Warden kadan doesn't imply romantic feelings - it could, I suppose, but kadan means anyone you care about. It's flexible, like "darling" - you can call your lover darling, you can call your kids darling, you can call that kitschy little house down the street darling... it's very situational haha.

Even though she slept with Alistair (largely because she felt sorry for him and didn't want to send him off to Anora a blushing virgin) my dwarf noble's most important relationship was definitely her one with Sten. Lots of my Wardens tracked down his sword for him, but she was the only one who actually understood why he wanted to find it. I bawled at his reaction to her ultimate sacrifice.
