From Sunjammer on the Fextralife Imported DA Forums:
I was kind of holding off from saying anything until there was something to say however rather than leave you all in the dark I'll tell you what little I know.
When the news of the forums closing down broke I contacted BioWare to find out if the wiki was also under threat. They confirmed that it was going but that it probably wasn't on the same time scale as the forums and they were looking into exporting the data to hand it off to a third party. They asked if I was able to host it and I confirmed I was (and I own the datoolset.net domain). They advised me that they were working through some legal stuff and they'd be in touch. I haven't heard anything since then (though Jesse did tell me he was going on holiday for a bit) so I've given them a little nudge.
Either way I'm not overly concerned. BioWare will provide us with a copy or we create our own. The wiki allows you to export content and we can probably automate that (but even manually it wouldn't be that much of a chore). That said there are probably a couple of things that we wouldn't get from exporting, such as the GeSHi language definition files for dascript and nwscript. I wrote the former so I have the original copy and (assuming I don't already have it squirrelled away somewhere) I suspect I can get the latter from the people in the NWN community (not that we really need it). Nonetheless I think working with BioWare is the better (if slower) option.
Then it comes down to hosting. I definitely think that a mediawiki install that the community controls is the best option. I'm happy to host and I don't have any concerns about setting it up and restoring it to it's former glory (after all I was heavily involved in setting up the original and I've been one if its admins for years) but that is not to say someone else might not be a better option (mainly because I haven't been particularly involved in recent years (other than the odd flurry of wiki editing or answering the odd toolset question) but then again it appears I'm getting roped into a couple of new project since the announcement so who knows!)
I've also been asked if the wiki could be transferred to something like wikia. Personally I don't think that is a viable option as I ran into some some issue when trying to port the divinityengine wiki to wikia. If memory services this was due to the custom GeSHi language definition (which our wiki also has). At the time wikia said it would require an engineer to resolve (not sure why) and while they didn't rule it out they weren't rushing to do anything for a single wiki. That said it was a couple of years ago so things might have changed.
Anyway apologies for continuing the off topicness but hopefully that anwers a few questions. Feel free to split/move this post as required.
