I am running Origins for the second time, and chose a Dwarf as well. First time I really wanted a mage, so had to go with an Elf. But both Dwarven backgrounds are my favorites.
I really want to see the return to Orzamar as a Dwarf & if I finish the game (that Urn sequence... (sigh)) I really want to see the Dwarf Protagonist, Sigrun and Oghren almost a full Dwarven party in Awakening. Wish I could get Shale as the 4th companion, but ah, can't be perfect.
The only trouble is that the Dwarves cannot be mages, so the party composition is not particularly great in Origins itself, since Wynne is a heals & I don't take Morrigan. I am torn between Sten and Shale as my 4th slot, but I dunno if that's feasible.

I've played both dwarf commoner and noble a couple times and I like them both. Both backgrounds are pretty good. I generally play Noble as a warrior and Commoner as a rogue. I think dwarf females are really cute. I haven't played as a male dwarf yet, but that's because I prefer to play female wardens. I haven't imported a dwarf into Awakening yet, but I definitely plan on it. I like to see all the different perspectives.

I play my Female Noble Dwarf as a Rogue, but I am taking the Ranger route. Lol,, basically doing everything I cannot do in the subsequent games. I know the games usually do not favor spreading the specialization, but ideally, I picture a character that paralyzes the primarily target (mage) from stealth, summons the wild beats of a helper, and then tears into the mob with double axes or something like that.
It would have been more interesting if the kit could be more dwarf-like, such as animating stone golems and constructs, rather than the animals, but I like the anti-mage focus (due to magic resistance inherent to the race) and the double axes... uhm, if they have one-handed axes. If not, double maces maybe. Well, something cool and showing off that muscular awesomeness vs iffy daggers.
EDIT: I also prefer females in Origins, because Alistair  (blush) |
