I'm not ashamed to play games at all, but if I'm still arguing about video games on forums when I'm 40 I think I'll probably just jump off a cliff. That's me in two years That's me now. :smh:

Make sure you have a connection to the internet when you go though. ... Oh, and don't forget to make a great big heap of mattresses down below before you jump. Well, you don't want to lose the argument do you? You don't want your last thought to be "I just have to reply to ..." and the rest was silence.

I turned 20 this year on April 2nd, I was 19 when I joined these forums back at around late February to early March I think.
If I remember correctly the order in which I played the various consoles and PCs(and mobile devices) goes something like this: Windows computer(probably XP, or whatever was around in the late 90s); PS1; PS2; GameCube; Xbox(Original); arcade joy stick consoles(you plug up the red, yellow, and white wires and can only play whatever was specific to the thing); Gameboy micro; Xbox 360; some ol' portable thing that's bigger than the original PSP(it used game cartridges and required 6 AA batteries); Laptop with Windows 8(now 10); PS4; Android S5(I think).
I got my first laptop at the end of my freshmen year, and I got my first phone sometime during my senior year(I didn't start playing games on it until july of 2016, after I graduated).
Something I've come to realize is why life feels so short(at least to me); when a year passes no matter how long it felt in the moment, once its passes it truly feels like a moment. I apply that same logic to the 15 years I spent in school(pre K-12 plus a repeat year in elementary); for a while every day felt like a slog, the summers felt to short, I didn't bother with getting my senior photos taken, or going to my graduation(it's all a spectacle since you don't get the actual diploma until a week later). I could've been a straight A student and signed up for Advance classes, I could've finished my basics by now, I could've got more involved with other things as well; frankly though; should've could've would've.
Perhaps I'll grow pass my inhibition before life tells me to get off my ass, or maybe I'll turn up like my current profile pic: A slow and lazy creature in a astronaut suit; a lazy creature aspiring to greatness only to ask itself how it got there in the first place.
Maybe in 80 years I'll finally live and learn, maybe in 20 I'll grow cynical, and in 40 I'll grow senile. Oh well, life goes on.

I'm not ashamed to play games at all, but if I'm still arguing about video games on forums when I'm 40 I think I'll probably just jump off a cliff. Well, here's the thing. At some point, quite likely, you, like most of the rest of us, will do some sort of calculation - intuitive, on paper, multidimensionally in MATLAB, whatever - and figure out one simple truth: As hobbies goes (especially if you're a bloke - by orders of magnitude), video games are, by far, one of the least expensive, least time-consuming, and most easily time-manageable things to do on the planet. Thus, unless you dislike games, have plenty of spare time and/or spare cash, and have a religious, fanatical urge to devote your entire being to some other things, choosing to be a gamer is perfectly rational (and very fun). Once you realise this simple truth, everything makes sense.

Was it black? Was probably a Sega Game-gear. Yes; I googled an image, that's it. The Game-gear and the cartridges are lying around somewhere in my house, so I don't remember what games I had. However I recall playing a baseball game, a side-scrolling beat'em up, and a couple other ones as well. I think I had 4 or 8 games for it I think; I ultimately stopped playing it due to the battery requirement. I think my dad found it on a job when I was in middle school.

I'm not ashamed to play games at all, but if I'm still arguing about video games on forums when I'm 40 I think I'll probably just jump off a cliff. With that kind of attitude, why wait? Seriously though, I don't even get why you would think such a thing, nevermind post it. But then I guess I don't see my interaction here as 'arguing' so much as sharing. I also have a certain amount of wisdom that comes with age, and recognize that the things I enjoy doing most for relaxation haven't changed in 35 years. Manic Miner has just become Mass Effect, that's all. The age between us as gamers is irrelevant as far as wider society is concerned (we're both losers) so if you really do consider yourself to be a gamer you should be grateful that old farts like me are trailblazing for you. When I get (more) old and decrepit I don't want to be in an old people's home watching On Golden Pond, I wanna have a controller in my hands so I can kill Rippaz. And as someone else noted, gaming is about the cheapest hobby that men (who love their hobbies) can get into, so it's either this or convert your roofspace to house your football program collection, or make an observatory, or fucking golf. I choose this. I would insert a picture of Clint glaring, but Clint is a pussy compared to me with a Claymore.

I love how people tells you that you should "act your age" lol I always give them the same reply: I decide when I choose to grow up or when I feel like acting a certain way, no one else decides that for me.

I usually suggest that I'd love to crash a global economy, destroy a housing market, make college degrees almost worthless and set the earth's climate on a path to destruction in our lifetime but they already took care of all that for me.

I'll be 27 in a couple of weeks. It's nice seing a lot of people my age and beyond enjoying their video games. The only person I know who does is my older brother for whom I've been backseat-gaming since the Sega Megadrive.

My tastes are just changing, and the versatility of the medium allows a lot of room for that I guess. Well it is a good guess from a chemical point of view! But I chose it while remembering my old geology classes. In minearology, it's a rock group.
