My first time Origins, I did recruit Zevran but he turned on me. I killed Wynne as well and never even noticed Sten. Or the dog. Romanced Alistair as a human noble but he dumped my ass for not being able to have kids. That game was a mess My first playthrough of Origins and DA2 were so chaotic in a not so good but funny in hindsight way. DAI went really smooth the first time , and I was surprised. Incoming wall of text ranting about stuff I've rant about a million time before. DAO I'm pretty sure I had to murder Zevran after his sudden but inevitable betrayal. I mostly remember him saying he enjoyed killing, and I felt like backing away slowly. Same thing with Leliana. On top of giggling about murder , apparently we had a relationship and I cheated on her with Alistair and broke her heart. I was puzzled and a bit scared. Morrigan. Well she disapproved.Of everything. And therefore was on my shitlist. Sten disapproved of everything as well but I couldn't understand whatever he was talking about whatsoever. I was cool with Wynne and Alistair. Ogren I got him late, and he was drunk and puking somewhere. The circle quest in the Fade almost gave me an aneurysm. I don't actually think I was enjoying the game, I just had to finish it and see this through. The silver lining was the Alistair romance. But I was playing a mage. So I got dumped. But I didn't care...I had one goal, Alistair was a good guy , he was going to be King and everything was going to be alright goddam it. Then Morrigan wanted a private talk in Redcliffe before the showdown. I thought I was clever and told her to go die in a bush, because she was obviously lying and I had everything under control and my happy ending was on its way. Shoo Morrigan, so long. Then I took King Alistair to battle the Archdemon. Twas romantic in my head. Up until the point where I lost the "Let me die for you" game. Then there was like 20 minutes of trying everything, every line, cheating the game, cursing myself because I had no old saves. But I was defeated. So I watched Alistair die, and then proceeded to the shittiest party known to humankind. The party really felt like a personal insult, and I even felt like clocking Wynne who was cheering about who knows what. Then DA2... Isabela ran with the book and never came back. I was half sad, half cursing her ass. I was trying to romance Fenris but failing. being my usual self, I was going to have my happy ending goddam it! Fenris was loathing me, but he wasn't loathing me in a sexy way. It was just "ew", somehow during Act 3 I found a sword as a gift, which he despised but got him finally in the mood for sexy time. So after 7 years Hawke and fenris have sex. And then Fenris decides that he needs more time to brood on the whole thing. While Broody McPants broods, I got an urgent letter, things are going down in the Gallows. Then BOOM. Then I decided to side with the mages. Broody Mc Pants suddenly has an epiphany, and makes up his mind, he's done with Hawke and leaves. The very stupid and always hopeful part of my brain goes "well it's cool , I'm sure he's going to come around and everything going to end up well" (It seems I never learn.) He does come around, goes "EW HAwke, I should never have let you touch me". I try every shade of "Plz don't do this Fenris". But then nothing works, And Fenris goes suicide by Hawke. The thing that totally broke me, was that I had templar Carver who didn't get along with Hawke. Then I started to contemplate having to kill Carver on top of it all... That's when i ended up in a fetal position and swore i'm done with Dragon Age. Then the next day of course proceeded to start the nothing goes wrong playthrough, I has every guide open I'm ready for this. I vaguely missed the whole catastrophe in DAi but couldn't help chuckling when romanced Dorian kept on cheering because nobody died and it didn't end badly. Felt like me and the game had a weird private joke going on.

I didn't understand any of the lore or the story, I had no idea why people disapproved of what I did, I didn't even understand the choices I was making And let's not even talk about the disaster that was Redcliffe Castle with Connor's possession.... It was only after playing DAI that I started to understand the story and the lore and the characters, and that's when I gave DAO another chance and enjoyed it much more. Even gave DA2 a chance but still never finished it... One day, though.

I have similar experience with not knowing what's going on, but for different reasons than being confused by lore: Language and (lack of) translation. Origins (and Awakening) is translated into Czech, but DLCs (since Leliana's Song) and other games are not. I was 13 or 14 when I played DA2 and I understood only about half of things people were saying (and somehow guessed the other half). Following the main story (alright, I have to go to Deep Roads to get rich... get rid of Qunari because no one is going to... damn, I'm done with this crap...) wasn't that hard, but talking to some characters (like Fenris) and doing certain quests (...just smile, nod, kill and get cash...) was nightmare.

I feel extremely embarrassed when my Warden gets stuck in a bear trap. I often reload the save file when that happens.

I judge every Dalish elf that wears the simpler version of vallaslin, whether they are ingame characters or made by players. I can't help but imagine them like "Oww, oww, oww! Please stop, keeper! It hurts! "

Here's a doozy of a confession. To understand this first go here and check out the pic. See the “problem?” Now most people with knowledge of computers/games and/or their inner workings would assume that it’s a graphical tear. I see this and bark out loud, “Shit!” I’m in the middle of doing “Let’s Play” and I end up with this issue. Not a problem at least I was able to catch this early on in my game-play. First thing that comes to my mind is I probably forgot to 4k patch the game, but just to be safe this is not a graphical file issue, I run a repair then run the 4k patch. I did have this happen on my DAO game it was just that very same issue, repair and run the patch. It gets all done and I load back in the game. Well, damn its still there. Alright. Well let me check my video card, updates, etc. and for good measure I’ll restart. Nothing. Nothing at all wrong. OK. I’ll remove my MODs one by one and double check the files to make sure there is no issues. Start adding in by groups of five. Load. Repeat. By the third set, the “glitch” finally appears. Good. I’ll just close and delete those…. wait a second, the last five I added in were all character creator MODs. WTF does that have to do with Anders staff?!? Maybe, just maybe a file got mixed in with those files? Nope. By this point I am completely baffled. Then I notice just above the five files, I grabbed six by mistake. It was this mage armor/staff MOD. I remove it and go back in the game and hooray! Its gone. Being a good little gamer, I head over to Nexus to leave a note for the author about this problem. Before doing so I double check -again- that I’ve installed it correctly andsee if anyone else has the problem. Nope all good there. For some reason I felt the need to look through the pics again. Then in the lower bit of the photo, I face palmed. Apparently, it’s a glow effect applied to the staff model the author used which is the same model staff, Anders used. I spent nearly two hours trying to fix a problem that was not one to begin with. Yeah…well, I’m just going to side-step over to the closet of ever-lasting face palms.

I hate that banter trigger point on Sundermount. I'm coming back from the Varterral caves after Pol's death, probably one of the most emotional parts of Merrill's story. Merrill's filled with grief and anger and then... boom! I cross that trigger point and she starts cheerfully quizzing Aveline about her love life.
Oh come on!

I had to stop using the Noble shield for Cassandra. When I colored it pink and my husband saw it, he said, "What shield is Cassandra using? Looks like a dragon's vagina."
Now I can no longer look at the shield - no matter its color - and not have that thought pop in my head.

Now, several things could happen. You hit someone with it and they will either be totally grossed out, turned on or have no reaction depending on their sexuality. You may catch Bull trying to ride it when Cassandra is not using it. You may attract fellow drakes. Poor Cassandra. Cole will be completely confused and ask a million questions. Sera may try to shave a swear word into it. Good Luck and my sympathies.

I love Sera x Dagna so much and I want a world state where they get together, but I don't know if I can resist romancing her myself. I want to wife her but I also want Dagna to wife her. DILEMMA. I can't believe how hard it is to make male elves in Origins. Every hairdo seems to clip through their ears. I don't mind that, it usually just looks like their ears are poking through their hair, which makes sense. Unless you mean the hair appears to go through their flesh.

I love Sera x Dagna so much and I want a world state where they get together, but I don't know if I can resist romancing her myself. I want to wife her but I also want Dagna to wife her. DILEMMA. Setting aside that I would have preferred Dagna as a possible Player Love Interest, can anyone justify just how Sera X Dagna works at all?
1. The fact that they never interact in the base game beyond a line or two in Sera's diary.
"All the characters have lives of their own, and Bioware can't show everything!"
Never said they should, but a brief cut scene, or character animation of the two of them together, or at the very least one of them talking about the other would have gone a long way.
"Maybe they wanted to keep it private."
No one in the Inquisition would care, so why should they? When has Sera ever been subtle about anything?
2. Their completely different personalities and beliefs, as Sera is a socio-anarchist criminal who prefers commoners, but Dagna is a mostly apolitical, driven scientist. Sera is loud and crude and loves action and pranks; Dagna is adorkably perky and nerdy and loves to drone on over history, philosophy and magical theory. Despite being an exile, Dagna still wants to help her people and is faithful to the Stone, in her own way; Sera could care less about Elf specific identity, and would everyone just be people. Dagna is in awe of magic, the Fade and even wants to contact the Titans; Such things are an existential nightmare for Sera that she wants little to no part of.
"Sometimes opposites attract."
Sometimes , but in this case I call shenanigans. Sera's whole friendship and romance arc focus on finding some who shares her temperament (pranks, not taking everything so seriously), politics (helping the little guy and sticking it to the Man) persona (seeing her as a person and not just an elf) and religion (preferably Andrastian, but definitely not Dalsih). So in her case, Sera needs common ground, and I just don't see her sharing that much with Dagna.
"Sera matured by Trespasser."
Matured enough to accept Lavellan's Dalish faith? No? Alrighty then...
"Bioware doesn't have the best track record with canon lesbians! Sera and Dagna need to stay together for representation!"

I like them together because they both defy expectations for their race - Sera is the least elfy elf, Dagna is the least dwarfy dwarf. They're both creative and unconventional and love a good explosion. Dagna studies magic, but she deconstructs it, bottles it, makes it demon-free and not scary at all.
Dagna's father refuses to accept her or reply to her letters, viewing her life on the surface as a disgrace. He has no appreciation for all that she's accomplished or the odds she's defied. Sera feels betrayed by her adopted mother and alienated by elven and human society.
In short, I think they could find a lot of comfort in each other and have tons of fun together. Would it have been nice to see them interact in the base game, or hear a banter from Sera about that strange but cute dwarf in the Undercroft? Sure, but I'll take what I can get.

Bioware seems to enjoy making words into complex sentences but also using words I have never heard of before. And when you mush these two together, it creates a massive migraine.
Origins was fairly easy to follow. However, by the time DA two and three rolled around, I found myself getting very confused as to what the hell was being said. I'll speak to someone, get completely confused and have to reload several times over until it finally clicked. Despite this, not all conversations ended up being deciphered. I still have no idea what the hell someone is saying, so I just nod my head, smile and move on.
I prefer conversations to be direct, not a riddle festival of who can be the most complex at words.

I agree that people only like the Solas romance for the tragedy of it. It's certainly the only aspect of that romantic arc that I appreciate, although he doesn't so much appear as a grandpa to me.

Not wrong. I'm mad at whoever made this First of all, Solas is pretty cute. He has nice cheekbones, a strong chin and soft eyes & lips. His features are a little narrow but he's mostly very easy on the eyes. Wouldn't say he's unattractive. He's not so much preachy as he is strong in his convictions. He knows exactly who he is, and this is very rare. Granted, he's had like 9 lives to figure himself out but that's a plus. I can see why his stillness and reticence might be a turn off. People want the loquaciousness of Dorian or the tortured passion of Cullen. That's what all the books and movies are about anyway. But in my real life, the women I've most appreciated and have the sweetest memories with were more like Solas. Somewhat dispassionate, introverted, distant. I'm extroverted but I take hardly anything seriously so someone who is more laid back suits me very well. At the same time having the ability to dive straight into the deep end of their thoughts or emotions or an interesting topic. And since I don't take anything seriously, I like a bit of distance in a relationship. You do your thing, I do my thing, and a couple of times a week we come together and it feels special. I feel Solas understands that. Cullen seems like a stalker ex waiting to happen and Dorian, well Dorian is just an upfront jackass so I've never considered him romanceable. And Solas is romantic as heck. I mean, he kisses you in the Fade! His favorite, most private place on Earth and he takes you with him.... awwwwww
