I'll admit that I did kinda spoil myself by watching some scenes from the 1st movie on YouTube a while back, but with the Blu Ray, I was able to watch the movie from beginning to end, in full context.

I certainly won't watch Avengers on opening weekend, the theaters will be packed and I'm picky on where I sit. Probably the following weekend I'll see it

This trailer makes me pre-emptively hate this movie. Cutting out the Spider-Man element removes any reason for me to give a fuck about Venom. Spider-Man / Peter Parker is so integral to Venom’s origin that removing him would be like making a Batman origin story where his parents survive; it removes his entire motivation to become who he is. If Peter isn’t around working at the Daily Bugle along with Eddie Brock, then Eddie Brock would have no workplace rival that he has personal history with, thus no emotional anchor and target to pin his blame on when his life falls apart and he lashes out. If Peter isn’t around to bond with the symbiote, then the symbiote has no reason to bond with Eddie (it also won’t have the Spider-Man-esque visual elements in its design, it only has those because of its time with Spider-Man when it served as his costume) to take revenge on him for abandoning it. The whole idea is that these two figures hate Peter Parker and want to kill him. That is literally the sole purpose of their cooperation, at the beginning. Venom’s origin is one of my favorites in all of comics, and Spider-Man / Peter is a central figure to that origin. Removing him fundamentally makes it not the same, so i have no real interest in it anymore. Plus Venom is my all time favorite Marvel character and seeing them piss away his origin like this makes me upset. Spider-Man 3 legitimately did the backstory better, even if it was rushed and still inaccurate as crap. At the very least, he actually LOOKS like Venom this time. He was way too scrawny in Spider-Man 3, and Topher Grace is way too scrawny to be Eddie Brock. Tom Hardy is the perfect choice for Eddie. Venom himself looks a little on the small side, still, I hope he bulks up in the full movie (Venom is most commonly depicted as 2 or 3 adult males wide and grotesquely jacked to the point where he almost looks inhuman, and the trailer makes him look like one guy who’s just kinda muscular). The eyes are way too fucking small though; Venom’s eye whites are huge and take up a good half his head in 99% of drawings.

Enjoyed Infinity War a good deal. It did what I wanted and was very fresh to have a comic book movie where the main villain of the movie and by extension, what all 18 movies have been building up to is in fact the main character, a villain protagonist Top 5 for me when it comes to comic movies.

Carnage’s origin has nothing to do with Spider-Man, the Carnage symbiote is birthed entirely from the Venom symbiote.

Guess I decided to watch Avengers on opening weekend. Did manage to get an ok seat. I think JRR Martin must have wrote the screen play. Wasn't disappointed. A Marvel bad guy finally done right.

I've now seen Infinity War twice, and the 2nd time gave me a good appreciation of just how much character development takes place for almost everyone involved. I'm in awe at how well it was all done, especially given the humorous/serious mood shifts that take place between the Guardian characters and the Avengers. Every fight showcased the individual hero's abilities.
And, damn, it even managed to give Thor a moment to process everything from Ragnorak.
Marvel is really just slapping around the DCU at this point.

(in a good way) How are the two atmospheres different? The US audience was definitely more vocal and expressive than I have ever experienced in a UK cinema. The round of applause and cheering when Captain America appeared was huuuuge, as one of many examples.
