I've now seen Infinity War twice, and the 2nd time gave me a good appreciation of just how much character development takes place for almost everyone involved. I'm in awe at how well it was all done, especially given the humorous/serious mood shifts that take place between the Guardian characters and the Avengers. Every fight showcased the individual hero's abilities. Indeed... the Drax + StarLord/Thor stuff was very funny, as was the verbal sparring between Stark & Dr. Strange. Very necessary comic relief I was absolutely floored by the character development in this flick, Josh Brolin deserves accolades (as do the directors) for his nuanced, powerhouse mo-cap performance. Thanos needed to be a formidable villain, and oh man did Marvel deliver. The love he felt for Gamora was very well done, written with subtlety & sentiment but without being cheesy or corny. This relationship was essential to make the Quill "pistol-whipping" scene work, as well as to give Thanos depth. His layered performance was beautiful, and despite what many immature teens might say, the flashbacks to his discovery/adoption of Gamora is the reason why Thanos will be a truly memorable movie baddie. He isn't "just evil from birth", he's not a Demon or wicked creature. Thanos is a very realistic villain in that, he, like all of us BELIEVES he is justified. He thinks HE is the hero. I have been speculating with my son all day about what the plot will be for Infinity Gauntlet. Will it follow the books? Will it be mostly original? We will see...

Has anyone seen this horror film yet? It's getting a lot of good reviews. Yup. This was very good. It has some logical inconsistencies that show up upon reflection, but it works for what it is really well - which is a taunt suspense thriller/horror.

Neat stuff Thanos is far from one dimensional like so many comic book bad guys brought to film. He's someone that actually feels. He loves his adopted daughter and agonizes over what he must do for the "greater good" of the universe in sacrificing her. He strongly believes he's the hero who is doing what must be done to save the universe. He watched as his world died when they didn't follow up on what he suggested and he wasn't going to let that mistake of inaction happen again to save the universe. I wish they did a better job with my favorite X-Men villain, Apocalypse. Badly miscast and one dimensional.

In re: The latest Avengers movie. One small point (spoilered): The last scene sets up Captain Marvel. She clearly will play a pivotal role in the next movie. There is one hero that is still un-referenced. One so mighty as to have defeated Thanos. One that flattened Doctor Doom. Squirrel Girl.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR As several people before me pointed out, this is one of the best MCU movies in terms of character development, go out and see it! I think that Josh Brolin's performance is flawless and well-deserving a nomination (which he probably won't get). Answering your question, mybudgee , I think it'll probably be a mix, because they already made some significant changes compared to the books. Anyhow, I totally agree with Obadiah , MCU has won hands down in the competition with DCU.

Yes indeed Despite the lame casting choice, I am SUPER Excited for the Captain MARVEL flick! I also love that the "Bat-signal" for her is a pager (the Cap Marvel movie will take place in 1994)

Every fight showcased the individual hero's abilities. And, damn, it even managed to give Thor a moment to process everything from Ragnorak. Marvel is really just slapping around the DCU at this point. Yeah, I was really surprised by how well it juggled a lot of the major players, though the past 2 films did have some clear omissions that make me very curious: Ant-Man and Hawkeye get mentions so they don't count entirely, but Sif's absence from Ragnarok and Valkyrie's from this movie makes me wonder what they have planned for them. Perhaps Valkyrie died, but an off-screen death of a major character with zero mention would be a pretty cheap disposal of the character. As one who really loves the DC properties themselves, it's really saddening to see what WB's done to it. I've been consuming the Marvel films religiously since the first Iron Man, and I don't think WB's ever going to be able to catch up to the immense groundwork that led up to this one stellar flick. Ever.

I've seen rumors about this character being the MCU's secret weapon. The fact that it's considered a bit of a joke here and there makes me want to see what the Russos (I assume they'd give this a shot if it's tied into Infinity War) could even do here.

Personally I’d rank Rogue One above the majority of the films, including the originals. But then, I think The Operative in Serenity is better than Darth Vader.

How are the two atmospheres different? The US audience was definitely more vocal and expressive than I have ever experienced in a UK cinema. The round of applause and cheering when Captain America appeared was huuuuge, as one of many examples. Ohhh lol I see. That kind of thing doesn't happen all of the time. Usually it's a sign of the viewers really enjoying themselves. My theater also cheered and applauded when Steve showed up. Also when T'Challa showed up. Thor as well. People are waiting on lines wrapped around the block just to see the movie for the second or third time. This may be the best Avengers yet.

I feel legitly sorry for DC now since after they fucked around for so long, Marvel got a Thanos movie(where he is the main character mind you) out before Darkseid and with how praised Thanos has been, Darkseid will be compared to him now. Considering the quality of the DCEU, it's not looking good.

Considering the quality of the DCEU, it's not looking good. Honestly, considering how the DCEU was essentially throwing most of its chips on the table as it was, they should’ve skipped the ridiculously lame Steppenwolf and just go straight to Darkseid in Justice League. Batman’s visions premonitions whatever in BvS already left me thinking he was going to show up in the next film anyway. And now they’re too late. I see absolutely no hope of this current iteration of the DCEU, and now there’s nothing they could do with Darkseid, I feel, that won’t pale horribly in comparison.

DC should have stuck with the dark atmosphere of MoS and BvS. Justice League tried too hard to be a lame Marvel rip off. Things were looking up with Wonder Woman only to come crashing down with JL. Maybe Patty Jenkins should direct the next JL movie.

Saw Infinity War. I give it 5/5 (or 10/10). I feel like someone (or something) ripped my heart out, stomped on it, and gave the shattered remains back to me. As for the DC movies, I didn't see Justice League (I didn't see Suicide Squad either, but I wasn't interested in the first place). I watched some scenes of JL on YouTube. What the hell happened? The tones in Man Of Steel, BvS, and Wonder Woman fit perfectly. They should have remained on this course...

DCEU really needs someone like Kevin Feige if they want to continue to be relevant. Direction and control is a huge problem right now.Doesn't help that Joss has been in a slump for years, which shows with the superior Rosso and James Gunn films compared to his Marvel films, let alone DC ones.

The tones in Man Of Steel, BvS, and Wonder Woman fit perfectly. They should have remained on this course... I really tried to give Justice League a chance, and at times, it had its moments, however brief (like resurrected Superman being able to keep up with the Flash), but the entire ensemble just didn't seem earned. Like they were all just grouped together quickly because we had to get a Justice League movie right right now. Man of Steel is problematic as hell and I'd never argue to be a great movie, but I actually kinda loved it for all its foibles. I hated this cynical version of Jonathan Kent with his magical tornado death, but the rest of the movie entertained me enough to score some points, and I loved Zod and Faora. Then Batman vs Superman came. I was never pissed off at a superhero movie before. Even Daredevil, which is lame as hell, didn't trigger any actual hatred, even with the clownish Colin Farrell as Bullseye. I was so thrilled to see that they finally did something right when Wonder Woman came out, like finally the DCEU might actually be saved. Then friggin Justice League. I don't hate it nearly as much as I loathe BvS, and it seems like they actually tried here and there, but I find these movies kind of exhausting in tone. All I can remember are dark color palettes and various remixes of Hans Zimmer. I don't even want to think about Suicide Squad. What a piece of shit that movie is. I think that the DCEU needs to be scrapped and put on ice until they can really get it together in a more cohesive vision, because even at its worst, the MCU manages to add something meaningful to the universe with each installment.

The only complaint I have about Infinity War was that with over two dozen superheroes running around, the movie was too brief (even at two and a half hours) to really do all of them justice. But then "Always leave them wanting more"
