I chose to keep it, but having thought about it for awhile and seeing as we left skyhold anyway (which is a stupid idea seeing as Haven is ill equipped and buried) I think I may reconsider it. Especially seeing as Solas can put his spies in.

LOL I planned on ending the Inquisition even before I would get the option to actually do it! Mother Giselle's first dialogue in Haven is what set me on my path, every decision I made was in pursuit of that goal. I was actually pretty happy that Trespasser actually let me do it.

When I came into Trespasser and heard the complaints I was more upset that I'd out-of-character condoned the actions of keeping it together those two years. I was super for disband in my first PT.
Since then, I did a PT where I angry kept it, but that was only because it suited that character. My own opinion is that it should be disbanded.
Although, apparently even keeping it together changes it, so it's not really an honest choice, is it?

I wanted to keep it, but when I got there and all the ugly smug bastards were sitting there, lecturing and we had no other option but to disband or be Divine´s dogs I said "screw this, you idiots" and disbanded it.

The Inquisition failed to stop the spies within it, so it'd be super risky to keep it up. Inquisition should've been disbanded right after killing Cory anyway.

I've played Trespasser with two Inquisitors so far and they both disbanded (they always meant to from the moment Mother Giselle told them of the Inquisition's history). However, they differ as to how they went about it. My Rogue Trevelyan always understood politics and she didn't hold it against Orlais and Ferelden, so she retired peacefully. My mage Trevelyan, however, was pissed off and tired of people mistrusting him, first because he was a mage, then as the leader of the Inquisition - so, he gave Ferelden and Orlais a Reason You Suck Speech and walked off.

After I saw how downhill the Inquisition went after a two year hands off approach (player wise, anyway), I chose to disband. Infiltration, soldiers propping themselves up as the only legitimate power worth a damn, viewing the Inquisitor's word with too much zealotry, etc.
It was like watching the progress of the Templar Order from its inception to the system that we know today--ripe with flaws. Be it out of incompetence within the higher tiers of the organization or the overall membership becoming slowly but surely corrupted with egotism, I felt that if I let the Inquisition live it would do more harm than good.
There were good soldiers I'm sure, but that will mean nothing if the bad ones can exact their power onto others who don't deserve it. Thank god it was only in its early to mid stages....

I have yet to play Trespasser, since I only have the Xbox 360 copy, but when I do my elf cannon quiz will probably disband. 1) Its better to go after Solas with smaller shadow units then an over bloated military organization. 2) My Quizz, who despise the Chantry, will never hand over them a product of her hard work and sweat. But its unfortunate that this will lead to Briala's death, since I chose her to lead in Wicked Hearts quest and she really only had power due to both her Eluvian and the Inquisition's backing. Hopefully she can escape Orlais with her head.

I split the difference. My Faithful Inquisitors turn the remains into the Divine's Honor Guard, while my non-Faithful will disband it completely.

Hell, I wanted the Inquisition to become the next great empire. I was actually a wee bit peeved we couldn't go that route. Even if you kept the Inquisition intact in Trespasser, it'd become a shadow of it's former self, so it didn't really matter to me either way. I've gone both options in various playthroughs and haven't really considered a "canon" decision on this yet.

Kept it, I consider a peacekeeping force necessary especially with a controversial Divine like Leliana. I also did it out of spite because of Bioware laying on the "every organization becomes corrupt!" spiel way too thick. Of course the Inquisition is going to be vulnerable to threats that it wasn't aware of such as Solas.

I did both disband and retain the Inquisition.
Canon wise, I disbanded, because if my former Inquisitor were to go after Solas, it's better for her to have a small core group without having politics, the chantry and stuffy nobles getting in the way.

I disbanded on my "good" playthrough. It will be more meaningful to take down Solas with a small group, more like what happened in DAO... Kept it on my "bad guy" one.

I disbanded, but I don't think it really matters tbh. The way it plays out the Inquisition will be a toothless entity in DA4 anyway.

I only played it once and I disbanded the Inquisition because Vivienne was Devine...I didn't like the idea of her being in control. Had it of been Cassandra or Lelianna I would've kept it togther.

True story. The one PT I had where I did angry honor guard, would never have done it if it had been Lel or Viv as Divine. It had to be Cass, or it would have been a sad disband.

IMO Cassandra would've made a great Devine, she just would've needed extra backing from the Inquisition. I like Leliana's vision. But I don't like her. Whether hardened or not, her first reaction is to kill people. You have to talk her out of killing people, twice, before she finally gets that she shouldn't. Cadsandra needs support, true, but she's the most honest, least blood seeking, most religious of the three choices. Maybe she didn't trash the old system, but it's progress and if you survive, you sort of get to help pick the next Divine successor as Divine. So, progress can be made more slowly and realistically. The only thing she lacks is political prowess, but Viv will support her and help her there too. It just seems the happiest option.

In my 'canon' world state the Inquisitor happily disbanded. She was a former Carta assassin and happier working in the shadows anyway, so it was a natural decision for her - she'd have done it a lot sooner if given the option.
Across all my world states, I'm probably going to end up with roughly a 50/50 split.

That's a tough one. My Lavellans already dealt with living on the wrong end of an authority's whim and given the Wycome missions, it's chilling to think that if not for the Inquisition's power and influence, they'd be another shrugged off act of extinction. Becoming an Inquisitor gave the Dalish a very real step forward into carving a safe place for elves to gather to. And now? Some may disband to preserve their people's reputation if there is a successful outcome in Wycome and if Varric's there to help solidify this more modest foothold. They may also need a private group to better handle hunting Solas and either convince him to stand down or stop him. Others may be reluctant to let go of this hard fought position of security. Especially if they placed Briala in power, and need to keep breathing down Gaspard's neck should he try to buck Briala's influence. Survival for their people may very well depend on maintaining political pressure.
The same may be done for Qunari and Dwarven Inquisitors I make. My human ones will likely disband, secure in their beliefs that they can capitalize on their reputation as former Inquisitor.
