Of course... We use it if that`s the only variant in our possession. We may also use it during very limited situation such as hack objectives where both enemies and players tend to cluster together. However, I believe the real problem with weapon variants addition lies with the fact that Bulwark and Concussive are way too situational and complicated(due to general game design and net code) with its usage compare to Siphon variation.. Ultimately making 66% of all variants waste of time, credits and efforts. .......................... I wanna say something stingy to BW about making variant weapons so unbalanced too... but I think we did enough of that.

I'm the opposite of most here: I actively avoid using Siphon weapons.
Because even in a game with space magic, a fucking vampire gun is one step further down the road to complete suspension of disbelief than I'm willing to go.

I can understand that. ...nonetheless, the MEAMP is health based game so vampiric ability is really too good. Especially with those kits such as soldier that deals more gun damage and have that 200% DR at low health......

I just use the highest version of these weapon types. I only have a siphon at about 3 at the most I think but it only does a little but of good because in this game if you make a mistake you are going down whether you have full hp or half.

Last weekend we had apex mission to play on Zero.. So I took my Krogan Merc XX with Soned Bulwark... and the amount of damage he could tank during while people camp was quite impressive.

I will occasionally bust out Bulwark on Hacks but usually I wonder if I am gimping myself and the team by doing so.
Concussive is unusable off-host due to unreliability of weakpoint registration.

I never understood off-host headshot problem... until this weekend. I was using Shadow Concussive in Apex mission... and (apparent) perfect headshot killings were not triggering any explosion. They worked absolutely fine when I was host indeed... :gasp:

Of course... We use it if that`s the only variant in our possession. No, not always. If I'm expecting to prime with ammo, variant weapons are not a good choice. Yes, Bulwark can be useful at those times. The thing is, I never know at load-out time what kind of objectives we'll get or whether the other pugs in the lobby will ever camp or stay together at all. Bulwark weapons would be much more attractive if they provided DR at all times, and perhaps extended to teammates within a radius. Yep. When I first drew a concussive weapon, I did take it out on a gig. Made some purdy 'splosions. No other enemies in range of those 'splosions, though, so it was ultimately pointless. I haven't bothered with them since. But since, in the free-for-all, "enemies everywhere!" environment that is MEAMP, I sometimes find survival to be a challenge, the Siphon weapons are quite useful to me, so I use them most of the time.

I equip my Rozerad Siphon II & Rozerad Concussive II on several kits.
If using an ammo primer, I drop the Concussive for the base Rozerad X. (Now that ammo priming is fixed, I will no longer use the base Rozerad X) If using a heavyweight kit, I bring the Piranha VI along with the Rozerad Siphon II.

Siphon, in the end, is better... :DD: Siphon and Bulwark strike me as 2 different ways to achieve the same end goal (survival). Bulwark has the disadvantage of requiring teammate proximity. Siphon has the disadvantage of requiring the player to do some weapon damage (Bulwark provides DR when it's equipped). Which is preferable is conditional. But, like a lot of other things, I'm sure it's much more clear for those who play with known groups than those of us who pug sans mike.

'Doing weapon damage' is not a disadvantage, it's how you win the game.

I've only used the Cyclone siphon so far, and I thought it was OK. I'd only use concussive on sniper rifles if I was hosting. I'm looking forward to getting a (useful) bulwark weapon to a useable level, and trying that out.

'Doing weapon damage' is not a disadvantage, it's how you win the game. You took that out of context. Bulwark weapons require teammate proximity to activate their DR. You need only equip them within that proximity to activate the bulwark effect, and it works regardless of your use of powers, cobras, melee, etc. The health regeneration provided by siphon weapons is based on the amount of damage you do with the weapon. Damage done by powers, combos, or melee does not restore health, only direct weapon damage does that.

I don`t have a lot of siphon weapons.. but the best one I have so far right now is Ruzad Siphon for sure. This thing heals significant amount of health everytime I land right shot.

The Bulwark DR would need to be, I dunno, doubled? tripled? to make it competitive.

Suspension of disbelief is important and Siphon guns don't make much sense. The whole "who cares it's space magic" argument doesn't fly with me.

Think they could do with adding some minor stat additions. Bulkwark: extra ammo, Concussive: more power damage, Siphon: accuracy(?)

The Bulwark DR would need to be, I dunno, doubled? tripled? to make it competitive. Your reply took my comment completely out of context. My point (which I think I stated pretty clearly) is that siphon and bulwark weapons are two different ways to achieve/support the goal of survival. I then the compared the pros and cons of each in meeting that goal. I agree that the siphon is vastly superior at this time. What would make the bulwark more useful imho is if the DR applied whenever it's equipped, and was extended to cover teammates in proximity. There are already some mechanics / evos that buff teammates - shield boost and barrier come to mind.

I wish concussive worked more like chain-lightning/overload.... with more range and priming. Kill enemy with headshot.. and a chain lightning hits another enemy within 3 meter proximity stunning & priming.
