I picked up on my main again and knocked off a chapter. If you ever reach the one about Lake Doric, make sure you talk to Loghan first. The old living story chapters are always private instances. Yo can choose to do them any time. Not so for the new ones. I went to the new map; Lake Doric, did all the hearts, vistas, etc. Then went to talk to Loghan and he said; go check out ABCD on the map. Say what? They're some of the heart quests I just did in the past two hours! Now they're blank again. I got the reward for completing the map! My guild mates suggested talking to the hearts NPC; maybe they'll say I've done them (relevant to the Loghan assignments). I did so. Well no, I've to do them all over again. After that, Loghan said to do more stuff to strengthen the military. So it's events, kill mobs, etc. I joined the centaur kill zerg. This is a must for poi and the fastest way to get the military forces up. I did four circles, killing the harathi. * On story. I'm in the same boat as @dustyelf . I play / like GW2 not for the story content. Graphics, game play, crafting and combat animation are top notch in my book. Each race has their unique qualities. The wardrobe feature is one of the best I've seen in the mmos I've played because you can mix and match, dye whatever you want. You get dyes on loot drops (and the drops are pretty good, I got a celestial white dye for loot drop and I wasn't even looking), anniversary gifts or buy them off the market. The colour palate is extensive; bright to dark, sombre to cheerful, brooding to glory hero. Minis are now part of the wardrobe and easy to call up. And the icing on the cake; loading and latency are fast and smooth. I never suffer any problems playing this game. * I opened the 2nd anniversary HOT gifts (I've delayed opening them until now). Wow, it's a headache deciding what weapon skins to get because shucks, they're the coolest design I've ever seen. P.S. I've to say it's very tempting to pull a charr's tail when you see it flicking side to side.

Found the biggest drumstick. Yay. There are some fun quests- a spy one where you need to sneak around the chars. Like these feed or lift the mood of the cows, pet the leopard- silly but sweet. As for crafting, have not seen that level of detail or variety in any game I've played. My Norn character, ditched the staff and working on hammer, sword and axe. My 80 archer in HOT almost to the final gliding mastery. She keeps falling and dying though- its pretty funny. Try to glide way over some gap cause I think I can make it .. and bam she sinks and dies! What about making frogs into juice. ugh. I felt sorry for the frogs and just whack the drakes. There're a few quests that turn you into creatures, they're favs; * you're turned into a leopard and go hunting or play with the pups * you're turned into a mini-oakheart and tend the garden * you clear a spider nest and if you pick up a red mushroom, you're turned into the tiniest toon * you're turned into a rabbit when you pick up a (I forgot name) obnoxious bit of rock at one of the skerrits' homes The guild race is always fun; you're turned into a chicken, a crab, a ghost wolf, quaggan, bear cub, devourer and spider. I did a fractal because guild members were asking for ppl to join. Did about three and in one, everyone was turned into asuras. I like the movement animation for the asuras; it's kind of ragdoll like and yet they're cute. * Crafting. Yep. I remember those days when I spent half my game time crafting. Just standing at the workstation, feeling bored by the dull tortoise process. I recalled parking the toon, make 200 of something and then went AFK to do something like cleaning, making a sandwich, etc. Sometimes I came back to find it's still not done. Sometimes I go to the workstation, then scurried to the bank NPC just to check whether I have the mats; back and forth, back and forth. With GW2, you park at the workstation and what recipes, mats you have is immediately available once you activate the workstation. Everything is listed nicely in storage, you don't have to spend time arranging or rummaging for anything (where the heck did I put that mats/item?). Of course GW2 is the next generation mmorpg. But compare it to swtor. GW2 was released in 2012. Swtor in 2011. It's clear the GW2 devs are aware of the dull and grinding features, the unpleasant stuff that happen among players in older mmos. They want to make changes, create an enjoyable, fun and smooth game experience for players. I've to say, for me, they accomplished it. * Gliding. I did the same thing. I can make it over there! I'm sure I can. Bump. I never died though. * Revenant It's a toss up between sword or mace for main hand. I go for sword because I like the ninja-like attack skill since it leaves the mob bewilder at the toon's exact position. Most times, they'll end up striking in the wrong direction. That's for 1 vs 1 combat. For more mobs. I rely a lot on the hammer whirlwind for aoes. It deals a lot of dmg. I took down a whole bunch of baseline harathi, about 10? with the hammer whirlwind. My revenant is now level 80 but crafting is behind since I have not open up every zone. She won't get the ascended armor yet. I did get her the ascended rings and accessories.

One more chapter to go. The one I finished was pretty hairy during the fight. Once last available chapter is done, I'll have to get more mastery points.

Is the expansion good so far? I'm enjoying it but that's a subjective opinion. The quests are what you can expect if you have played the original story line of GW2. The new zones are bigger. The main story mirrors the first one; chase that bad guy and get him down except that it isn't a dragon this time. It's not on the level as BG or DOS2 but it's passable. It's the other gameplay features that's interesting. We have mounts! What do you think of the new specializations. The weaver and mirage look really good. Can't wait to see the new pets for ranger too! I'm on my main so that's the ranger. I've not looked into the specialization. The maps are big (three new zones if I'm not mistaken), with high and low terrains to traverse, hence the need for mounts that can run fast, jump up / jump across long distances and skim. Very useful if you want to skip away from the mobs. You can still glide btw. The mounts can attack too but again, need to train up those skills (masteries). There're four mounts. Skimmer is a must because there're fast running quicksand streams if you want to get across quick instead of taking the long way around. You get the mounts via story. I tried for the skimmer just now since I heard it can be gotten early but no go. I've to train up the first mount to be able to jump canyons and that's not going to happen any time soon. I'm taking it slow. Everyone eventually ends up with all the mounts. Btw, a giant bunny is one of the mounts. One of the masteries have you running as a helper to a chef. Not as easy as it sounds. At the end of it, I want to chop off his legs and stick them in the pot.

Got another two mounts. One more to go. I heard it's five new zones, not three. I'm not too certain with the new spec, I'm sticking with the druid until the new spec tree is filled. Then I'll fiddle around and see how it does.

I've gotten up to the living story where you have to unlock some place with some cranky shining blade and there's rooms that start on fire on either side. It's been a while.

I've gotten up to the living story where you have to unlock some place with some cranky shining blade and there's rooms that start on fire on either side. It's been a while. That struck no bell. If you name it, I'd probably remember. The fights in the LS vary, that's what I like about it. It's not just plain run in and shoot up everything. Sometimes it can be annoying. Sometimes a breeze and sometimes, you need to rattle the marbles a bit. None of it is impossible or so frustrating, you'd want to tear your hair out. Got another two mounts. One more to go. I heard it's five new zones, not three. I'm not too certain with the new spec, I'm sticking with the druid until the new spec tree is filled. Then I'll fiddle around and see how it does. I have got to get this to ride the bunny! Seriously though 5 new zones is pretty good- I'm looking forward to seeing them. There's one thing I forgot to mention. I got the mounts because I actively looked for them when I heard they can be gotten early. That meant I bought them off the heart NPCs; game money and tokens dropped by mobs. I have no idea if they're available via LS, for free, since I've not completed it. How did I find them? Through YT. I didn't open up all the zones, I just headed in the direction pointed out in the videos. The zones are big. The opening map is desert (cue in Arabic-like desert music, it's not bad), hence, the 'dino'. I've gotten it to canyon leap, a requisite for getting other mounts, so its jump is farther than what it started with. The other reason is that I want to get to some mastery tokens. You cannot get to them without the abilities of the other mounts.

The last fight is. I ended with all my armor broken after I kicked down the boss. The entire suit. I went in cold for all the chapters, without looking up on the obstacles and what the last fight is about. I'd suggest you get an idea on what to do. Especially, the last one.

Oh btw, mounts are definitely needed to get to some mastery points. If the *path is very obvious, go for it. If it seems impossible, wait to get all the mounts and kick up their abilities. Or if you're lucky, someone will port you. I managed to get to a hard place since guildmates were porting to that area; it's hard to get to without the bunny with high jump. Too, you can dye the mounts. Only one colour though but better than nothing. * I just spent 30 mins trying to get to a hero point that seems high up. I was using the springer to jump higher and higher and met invisible walls. I was befuddled. Then I looked at the map and realised I was right on top of the hero point. All I had to do was glide down, bypassing all the mobs. Lucky me.

Finished POF story. The fight was nuts. I went with a guildmate and we ended up with broken armor; entire suit. Also, griffins are not bestowed at end of story. They're a secret mount players can get. Pay for really; 250 gold besides doing quests just to get it. They don't look impressive to me; subjective opinion. I like my griffin in Dark and Light better; regal and more griffin like. I've to say getting to the griffin quest giver was painful. I also don't like two of the new zones much. However, one of them really takes the cake.

Over the years I played GW2 without the music. Yep, you heard me right. I turned off the music due to reasons. Now there is no need to and I'm hearing the beautiful pieces. I went to look up the old and the new. Caledon Forest is lovely, too bad it's not there any more. Now whenever I popped into Lion's Arch, I hear the piece below. When I first heard it, I felt I should be doing something epic to celebrate the rise of the city again.

I've been playing GW2 over 5 years now and have 21 characters (didn't realize I had that many until I counted just now) who are all 80.
It's the only game my better half and I play together.

WOW! 21, that's a lot of characters! I have 6 going right now and had about 4 others about a year ago but accidentally deleted them and had to start over - heh. It's a really fun game. My better half (i.e. the Krogan in the other room) has 34 characters; he was part of the beta testing and had early access, so he had a head start. Favorite species / class: Asura. Started out preferring the ranger class, but I've been leaning more toward the necro minion master lately.

I've never played an Asura, they are cute. Had a Sylvari once before but she didn't take for some reason. Mostly play human rogues- archery with pets. Right now have a necromancer, revenant and mesmer going. Waiting for the Path of Fire to go on sale to buy it. I have one Sylvari, which I rarely play. If he wasn't a grandmaster weapon and armor smith I'd probably delete the character and free up the slot. I took him into the Heart of Thorns story to check out the special dialogue, but really touched him since. With Path of Fire I made both of my thieves into Deadeye. I like the class, but wish the range was equal to the ranger long bow. Here's my Asura Deadeye: Edit: Is there a BSN guild in GW2?

There're boost level to 80 parchments / books available in the store Wait, really? How much? 2000 Gems. Using them is a bit better than using the level-up scrolls and levelling tomes; you get additional gear (armor, weapons, and trinkets/accessories) that you would otherwise have to remember to get the other way. Might not be the stat-set you want, but something>nothing.

Yep. I was summoned. (Heh!) Having a boatload of characters leads to interesting results (e.g. finding the old-style 1-79 transmutation stone on a character that wasn't used in a while - but only 2 of them, so nope, can't trade them in.)

I vaguely recall dabbling a little in GW1 way back when. Never really did get into it. Got too many games as it is...
