The qunari look terrible in DAI. Iron Bull's head is freakishly small and his face looks like it got run over by a truck... His horns look ridiculous. The DA2 qunari looked amazing. Intimidating, masculine and sexy. I liked the IDEA of the elves in DA2. Their faces anyway. Their bodies looked way too anorexic. I thought Marethari looked GREAT. So did the merchant in the Dalish camp. Or that one girl whose name I forgot. I like the broad nose bridge and the big alien eyes. However, I'm ok with the DAI elves also. The dwarves look fine in all three games. So my only complaint is the ugly AF qunari design in DAI. I want a different one for DA4.

This guy is something else Been in amateur BB for some time and know a few who've gone pro, but never seen anything like this. His face is so tiny next to his fist, neck, everything, pecks are ridiculously large, and completely drawn too low. Post DAO/ME1 BW has been going downhill on char modeling. Compare it to something like this: While I agree that Bull looks fat with man boobs rather than muscular and his face/horns are about as ugly as anyone can imagine, I am not sure why on earth you are comparing his concept art to some girl in a hood that has nothing to do whatsoever with trying to present a muscular giant? I know BnS is anime, but I liked their version of giant humanoids save for their too long limbs, the Gon: s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/8f/5f/91/8f5f91f2b98b2badc22a51000ea5fc64.jpgbns.mmo-fashion.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/2016/01/bns-dark-sandstorm-costume-gon-male.jpgWell I meant in general of ( visual) character design. It has to be "simple", easy to spot, no excessive add-ons, instantly recognizable ( Overwatch is text book example here). Their design/attire has to make sense in context of their background and the setting. Essentially visual design should give the player immediate hint of what character is about( Addison is a really poor example of this)

Essentially visual design should give the player immediate hint of what character is about( Addison is a really poor example of this) I don't understand what you are after. Bull's design is simple and says "big fat Qunari pirate". It's just that he is fat and ugly. Particulary compared with the in-game Qunari that actually are well designed imo, save for the terrible hair. But hair is terrifying in DA3 accross the board, so it's not just Qunari. What the hell Addison or that other girl have to do with it? If you want to show successful designs for giant races of muscular vs Qunari, go ahead, post. ut stop spamming standard babe avatars that are not hard to render for any games & had never been a problem. And the reason I did not want to look at Overwatch again, is that it's art is like cartoons for kids. I am not a big fan of DA3 art, but each and every DA game is light years better than Overwatch visually.

I liked that they were way shorter than humans in DAO, but then they looked like tiny humans, there was nothing special or different about their faces. I will take boring over ugly anyday.

Honestly, I hope they stop redesigning races. There needs to be some consistency

I wish they would've been consistent with hairstyles, tbh. In the concept art you see Avvar with dreadlocks and partially shaved heads, qunari with super long hair, etc. I'd like to see more dwarves with braids, Dalish with unique hairstyles... Of course, Bioware has to care about hair first.

The impression i got with all races in DA:I was they made a human body then either made it skinny, small or big to fit the other races, which is prob easiest i suppose to get armour /clothes to fit, no idea i aint a dev, it one of the reasons race choice means jack to me, lack of effort.
Going by the Anthem preview it looks like the studio has came a long way since DA:I with there grip on the frostbite engine, hopefully that pays of for the DA team, i expect tweaks/improvements in all races an all things aesthetic, if DA4 comes out an the character/npc models still look the same as DA:I an ME:A i will be hell of a surprised

I like where everything ended up in DAI as far as racial looks (wow that's not something you'd get away with outside of the internet XD). I'm glad they didnt stick with DAO or DA2. Flemeth was a strange change but I guess Mythal is vain and uses magic on those breasts? Old ladys tits on are not that perky! She just got a good push up bra lol Flemeth was acting the weak old hag in the woods in DAO so no surprise she looked that way. I like how she looks in DA II and DAI (sorry, not the boobs) and moves not like an old woman though at the end of her dialogue with Morrigan (DAI), clearly, she seemed weaken or under some great pressure. To me, she seems ageless. Keep redesigning the races? I'd rather they improve them than a redesign. There's one thing I'd like them to do is to improve the female model. I thought the model look over the top in bosom size and stringy in the arms when the Inq isn't wearing heavy armor (warrior). I hope they vary female anatomy if possible and allowed players some choices. I also hope not to see the hunchback and spray legs walk any more. I kind of wish they go back to the DA II qunari design, for males, that is. The DA II elves also look unique. The only thing they have to improve on is not to make them so physically weedy.

Quick defense of iron bulls head
Pin head-seen this on big time bodybuilders. Bodies etc are so muscular the persons head looks tiny
They have tons of work to do on all Qunari-please make them more muscular-( still not sure bodysliders can't happen). Bring back da2 horns
Humans-hair choices obvious but there is clearly missing something in sliders such as mouths etc. wouldn't mind more game diversity
Elves-gotta fix arms. Maybe unique hairstyles
Dwarves-bring back braided beards. Feels like they can't come cliose to replicating the looks of bhelen etc

I think they're pretty good. I think they should work on the proportions of the Qunari a bit. Haven't played with them too much, but Iron Bull particularly has a lemon of a head.

I don't think Bioware needs to do major character redesigns anymore. They do have some tweaking to do, however. - Elves: Make them slightly less anorexic. They should be shorter than humans, with a lithe or wiry build, but not be twigs
- Qunari: Bull's head does seem too small to me. I understand what people are saying about bodybuilders, but Bull is Qunari. IMO his head seems tiny in conjunction with his body and his HORNS.
- Speaking of horns - separate hair selection from horn selection.
- Facial Hair:
- I agree that dwarves, at least, should have some braided options.
- How about one or two more mustache options? If you want your Quizzie to have a real mustache it either has to be wide and curled up at the ends or grow down the side of the mouth to the chin. A smaller, simpler version would be nice.
- Eyebrow color can be different than hair color.
- Hair: OMG! I'm still having trouble with 8 receding/balding looks for women. That's not hair choice. That's a choice of how to display your lack of hair. Kind of not what we've been asking for. I've gone on at length elsewhere so I'll just make a couple of suggestions here.
- Many of the hairstyles, from DAO to DAI, would have been much better by making the bangs longer - to the eyebrows - and tapering them at the sides (as in longer at the sides)
- Shaved sides or pulled back hair doesn't mean no hair at the temples. Seriously, what is that? Who's idea was it to sneak receding hairlines into everything possible?
- Better Qunari options
- less separated dreadlocks and cornrows
- THE BODY - this needs to be separate because it really ticked me off that I couldn't use some of the better armors on some of my characters because Bioware chose to force the body into a designated armor shape instead of adjusting the armor to fit the body. Yeah, I'm looking at you, Skin that Stalks/Sneaks/Struts/whatever. It's clearly made for a skinny bosomless female. Vivienne might wear it, cause she'll suffer for fashion. Maybe a female elf looks ok. Everybody else? Pfft . . . Why on earth would I want to put my warriors into a corset or a straitjacket? I can't stand to look at it. There are other armors with the same issue. I am glad each companion has a signature look but we can give them different or upgraded armors within that look. Defender mail on Cassandra looks different on Blackwall and looks different on the Bull, etc. But they still conform to the body dimensions of the particular companion. If you're going to give us armor that retains its own distinct appearance over that of the companion's style (Skin that __, Griffon, Descent, etc.) then you have to at least make sure the dimensions match that of the person wearing it. Otherwise, what's the point?
That's enough from me.

The general race design concepts and in game face models are fine (sans hair) but they need to work on their body models. In dai my lavellan looked thin and disproportionate, my female dwarf also looked too thin though not as bad (the stockier dao build was better). All races/genders are meant to be adventurers so they should all look fit.
I wish they'd do the pc body models based on real athletes appearance adjusted for height if neccesary. Pick a type for humans then select a lither type of athlete build for elf thus avoiding the anorexic elf look. Eg. Humans based on basketballers build, elves based on swimmers, qunari based on weightlifters/body builders and dwarves on your shorter wrestlers.

The best Qunari was the Arishok in DA2. Now there was a great-looking character.
In DA2, most of the important elves looked great (Merrill, Fenris, Orsino, Marethari), but some of them looked a bit weird, like those two you meet when you first go to the Dalish camp. I'm happy enough with their look in Inquisition, though. I think Solas looks great.
I thought the female dwarves in Inquisition were a bit too small, they could do with being a bit more like they were in Origins.

I thought the female dwarves in Inquisition were a bit too small, they could do with being a bit more like they were in Origins. Minus the too-long arms and extra large hands? Yes, that would work. I agree female dwarves in DAI looked too small, almost child-like, which was incredibly creepy during the romance scenes.
I think Bioware finally gave up on doing hands correctly since nearly everyone in DAI and MEA wear some type of glove/gauntlet, even when it makes zero sense to do so.

I liked Huon's elf hair style in DAII However I would like a muscle body slider. I would love to play a slimmer but still muscular Qunari.

I'm always happy to see changes, whether they're from the game engine or a design with/without a reason. Even little lore changes, I just go with it. I always try to keep in mind that any lore is from an observer in the DA universe, and different people interpret different ways. As long as the essence is the same and nothing breaks anything I consider it a non-issue (recognising that my idea of broken is different to other gamers).

Well, I take a middle of the road approach.
Humans come in different shapes, size and skin colouring. Yet, we can easily see they are still homo sapiens. I expect similar variations in alien physiology as well.
However, I abhor radical variations. In MEA, the ASARI all looked the same (at launch).... FAIL. In DA2, the Qunari grew horns.... another FAIL, though I loved the way the QUN culture came across ... unyielding in their viewpoints. In DAI, that strict cultural upbringing was tossed to the side with BULL.... what BS. As to old turning up young... that's par for the course in a fantasy/magic setting, so I accept Flemeth's new look.... not so for Leliana's, nor Cassandra's in DAI. And, Cullen? ...his transformation from DA:O to DA:I... does not add up. (🌸=◡=)

You don't think men look a lot different between the ages of 18 and their mid-30s?
Also not sure how Leliana and Cass look younger in DAI than they do in previous games.
