Attacking Adamant was an awesome sauce cinematic. Although, did we try simply contacting Clarel and that failed?

There was a lot, I loved about Inquisition
- the companions. I don't think, we ever had such a variety of companions with such interesting back stories - the different maps - it was fun having maps like Stormcoast or Emprise du Lion or Hissing Waste (although the last one isn't a favorite of mine, it certainly is pretty) - Some quests were just plain fun: In Hushed WHispers (yeah, big Doctor Who fan here, so bring on the timey whimey stuff), Here lies the Abyss, Wicked Eyes and Wicked Heart (minus Halla doors) - some nice ideas. - a lot of great new features - from armor and weapon making to the war table missions - a lot of more interesting npcs, that are not part of your team, like Krem, Sutherland and group, Dagna, Harding, that talkative smith, Dennet, Felix ... - the CC is great, if there would be more hair options, it would really be the perfect CC, certainly better, than the ones from DAO and DA2 and the ME games - there is a lot of stuff to do for different kind of player - and it's nice, that those side quests etc. are optional. - I really like some of the minor antagonists like Alexius or everyones favorite choice spirit - companions are all amazing in their own way and it is kind of cool, to have some major player of future games hidden among them. - Dorian and Felix: finally some non-blood magic and non-evil Tevinter mages of higher rank. I really would love a meeting between Dorian and Fenris (a non-lethal one) - my favorite map and questline: Crestwood - the tavern songs: they are nice and actually sounding like bard songs for once - having some plots of the other games wrapped up, including some grey warden storylines (Alistair, Loghain or Stroud) - having Hawke back, I for once was happy with it

Hrungr said most of what I would have said, so included here for reference, with some additions below: Good thread idea. I think people sometimes forget just how many improvements we got between DA2 & DAI. 1. Environments: Gorgeous and varied playgrounds, each with their own colour palette, lighting, wildlife and sounds. They felt large enough to give you some breathing room to explore, and some nice verticality. Feeling like you're part of a larger world, but small enough that they aren't overwhelming. So much better than the linear environments in the previous games. With continuing improvements in environment fidelity, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what's next. With some stronger side-quests, and less resource grinding, they'd be perfect. 2. Crafting: I thought the crafting & tinting system was great. You could now craft armor and weapons, not just for yourself, but for your companions as well. Mastercrafts were a very nice touch. I realize with the asset limitations on older consoles we didn't have a much variety as we might have liked, but that's something that shouldn't be an issue going forward. More filtering options for schematics & crafting materials would be nice though. 3. Movement: Even the "little" things - jumping, climbing, sliding, falling can add a lot to the overall experience. Hopefully we'll get to add flying & swimming to that list in the future. 4. Mounts: While in DAI they were somewhat disappointing in practice, I think it was a good foundation to build on. Some of the mounts were just fantastic - the Harts and Nuggalopes especially. Hopefully, each companion can have their own mount in the future, and we can fight, banter with companions, and interact with the environment while mounted. 5. Customizable Home Base: Again, something new for DA. We had a decent selection of options and would just hope to see this feature grow in the future. I like that in ES we can display armor, weapons, trophies and would definitely like to see those options in DA. 6. Indoor Environments: Notice all the work they put in here (especially when compared to DA2)? All the food, clutter, books, paper, dishes, furniture, art, vases, rustic to rich, and on, and on. You go into someone's home, and... it looks like someone's home. Can't wait to see all the new little touches they cook up in the next game. 7. Music: I think Trevor Morris did a good job in DAI. Some of the standouts for me - The Siege of Adamant & the ambient environment music in the Western Approach. They really helped set the tone for those areas. But the Tavern Songs were the real standout for me. They're all great. 8. Secondary Associates: It was nice to have such a large number of people we could talk to and chatter to listen in on outside of our companions. It really helped bring life to some of these hub areas (Skyhold made the best use of this). 9. Companions Interacting In Hub Areas: Though not new to DAI, it always adds something special to the game when we see companions interacting with one another in our hubs. I really want to see more of this, even if it's not in a cinematic. Just a few companions talking to one another at a bar, or around a campfire, shopping, etc. I want to have more opportunities to get all the companions (or just large groups of them) together. Whether it's to discuss the events in the game, to playing games, at a marketplace, to just chatting while traveling on the road. We need more of those I think to see how relationships between companions change over time. 10. Classes/Combat: Loved that they brought back a melee-mage class and there's quite a number of abilities across all the classes I liked in the game. The Knight Enchanter, Reaver and Tempest were my favorite specs overall. Love to see more Hybrid Classes in the next game (Warrior-Mage, Warrior-Rogue, Mage-Rogue). I loved that they brought back Tactical View, though I'd like more if they could somehow make everything above ground level transparent so you don't have to worry about camera position so much, and allow you to move cursors through obstacles, instead having to around them. 11. Character Creator: Far and away the strongest one they've made so far. And again we had a magic mirror to correct our horrible eyebrow decisions. But, always room for more improvement! 12. Companions: While I personally felt that this was the weakest (overall) cast in the DA series, they were still enjoyable, and had a nice, wide variety of backgrounds. The VA was good as always, and there were a few standouts. The companion quests are an area that could use some improvement though. As they are so integral to the game, they deserve more attention overall. 13. Secondary Antagonists: They were certainly more interesting the the primary antagonist, which they really should have fleshed out more to make him less a "force of nature" villain. I'm actually kinda hoping we'll see Calpernia again in a future game. And the Solas twist was excellent, and it gives me hope to have an interesting, complex primary antagonist in the next game. And of course, the Evanuris are also waiting in the wings... 14. Wildlife: I loved that there was a mix of hostile, neutral, and non-hostile wildlife, and their behavior in the environments (roaming around, predators hunting prey, etc.). They really, really helped breathe life into their environments. And it's also the little touches - like having adorable nugs and fennecs around. It's something I missed in MEA, where all the wildlife was hostile, and none of it cute. 15. Gameplay that benefited from min/maxing crafting, builds and learning how to play them. Builds were complex and rich enough that even though people gravitated towards KE pre-Trespasser, before spamming Spirit Blade was nerfed, there were other builds that were underrated that were really quite good, and subsequent patches, none the least being Patch 10 and Trespasser, changed things up enough that new builds emerged as optimal. 16. Replay value to try different builds, different difficulties, different victory conditions, and different story choices. 17. The Golden Nug as a quality-of-life improvement for replays. 18. Humor. "So no, I'm not Lord Poncyfart, all ruffled," still makes me chuckle to this day. 19. The DLCs. One to provide a large new area to explore, gobs of rare crafting materials, and enemies with some real challenge to them. Another to satisfy the Deep Roads itch and mob wave warfare -- not to mention a big lore info dump at the end. And finally, one to push the story to a whole new level. Yes, that last one is a two-edged sword and can serve as multiple legit negatives as well, but c'mon, Trespasser kicks ass no matter how you slice it. 20. Open world design. There, I said it.

I loved my inquisitor The best moment for me were when she was alone, lost in the snow (after Darse)and when she awoke with sister Giselle beside her, the other were debatting in front of them, and Giselle began to sing ... then one by one they sang .... tears came in my eyes ... a marvelous game moment

Right so here we go, kind of a round about way of doing it...but here we go.
In a lot of ways I found Andromeda to do many of its technical aspects better. Its story writing was simple, but worked really well, it had better combat (profiles ftw), and better overall side quests and companion quests. There was a lot of gold there...yet DA I is my favorite game ever.
And because I think DA I did a lot of its intangibles right. It had a much better tone, was more mature, more balanced, way more philosophical and 'adult', and...perhaps the most important of all...some of the best companion characters, and of course, the Dawn will Come (not to mention the rest of the music).
Could you imagine a combination of DAIs more mature writing coupled with the technical mastery BioWare exhibited in Andromeda?

The choice between Hawke and Loghain in the fade, to this day, remains the single hardest choice I've had to make in a video game. Gotta give it props for that.
Really like the dynamic with Morrigan & Keiran with a romanced Warden in the background.
For all the flack he gets I genuinely think that Corypheus is the best primary antagonist in a DA game to date. Granted, stacked against the likes of the Archdemon, the Mother, and Merridith, that may be damning with faint praise. Still I thought he was very well acted & his dialogue was great. Only fell short due to the plotting and also the refusal of half the cast to treat him with any respect.
The Solas reveal genuinely shocked me the first time around. In hindsight I really should have seen it coming but they got me.

Voice actors Specializations(they all felt good) Most romances Graphics Origin backgrounds NO forced "grey choices" (think MEA first murder mission) All major characters that were apart of the inquisition felt well written.

Let's see...
1. Best cast of companions with stellar voice acting 2. Gorgeous art style (stunning environments and great armor design, faces are hit and miss for me, the qunari look AWFUL) 3. Tons of amazing banter 4. Solas: best antagonist of the franchise 5. Morrigan and the Temple of Mythal are superbly written and to me the highlight of the game 6. Good soundtrack (but lack of exploration music needs to be corrected in DA4) 7. Crafting is very good and satisfying 8. I LOVED the roar of my stag, I actually used my mount a lot 9. Branching questline (mages/templars) 10. Crestwood (future games need more locations that change over time)
Please keep all that at the same level of quality, Bioware, but vastly improve: - combat - protagonist - main plot (especially the main villain) - exploration and side quests - cities

I think the Dawn will Come thing was awesome. The value of music to world building is very high. Also, I like a lot of Disney songs. I wish Solas had interrupted later so I could hear more.
I don't know how they'd bring more voiced music in to the world in the next installment but I hope they try.

I don't know how they'd bring more voiced music in to the world in the next installment but I hope they try. I rather like the inclusion of music when it comes to world-building. Although I understand when it's absent since it's not easy for everybody to write music and songs to include as a part of their world-building. Bioware seems to have it more or less down so I hope to see it included in the next game as well. I liked the Dawn Will Come and the tavern songs.
