So I was browsing around youtube, and an add came on. So I was sitting through it with on my face, just waiting for it to finish. And it started showing kids assembling a make your own tablet. Which I thought was a neat idea. So I clicked on the add, and it brought me to this site: kano.me/ . Now I've seen a few electronics kits for kids, before. But never a full on, assemble and program your own computer it before. According to the site, they teach kids how to assemble their own computer, what each part does, and how to do some basic coding in Java, Python, and UNIX. To me, this is a marvelous idea! We need to teach more kids how computers work, and how to code. So I figured I'd share this with everyone. What do you think?

Welllllllll idk On a technical level that sounds ok, but on a personal level... if it was my (theoretical) child I dont think Id want them to get so involved in technology so young. It feels like when you see reeaalllyyyy young children with cellphones or something like that. Im not sure it would be a good thing. It isnt something Id want, although I have absolutely no idea how to be a parent so Im not sure my opinions are valid

But in all seriousness, even having basic computer knowledge as an adult, would be a great help to those of us on the tech support side of things. And kids always learn much better then adults, so get them into computing at a young age, and they would turn out more computer literate as adults. It could also help their career prospects, especially if they know even a little Unix code. You don't need much to get started, just the basics.

I think Id need it more than anyone else haha, Im even terrible with this forum's BBCode!
Id be worried that, by introducing things like that to them so young, theyd kinda lose respect for it. I feel that technology for children isnt a good thing and it might get them addicted. I understand that it might help them with a career and things like that but a child doesnt know what they want for a career until they get older. As I said... if I had a child, I wouldnt buy them one of these. Maybe a flashlight kit
