Kandros here with a positive update for you today. Either the Kett army must be seriously weakened from their unsuccessful attempts to take back Firebase Sandstorm or our APEX Strike Team members are becoming better at combatting the Archon and his forces. In the mess hall, I've been seeing our soldiers discuss and share their best tips and strategies for handling the Kett and the various objectives they encounter. Our armory has been equipping them with better and better weaponry. I foresee a quick end to this conflict with the Kett once the rest of our strike team members gain enough solo experience. The Kett will be no match for a four-person team of battle-hardened veterans.
Today, I get to share with you five exploits, two of them from our Turian Agent, who insists on going back to Sandstorm to refine his techniques. With his tactical cloak, he could leave and come back to the Nexus before I knew it. Two of our engineers, a Human and Krogan, showed the Kett how they definitely don't like fire and ice. Finally, our Turian Havoc Trooper demonstrated why we don't need weapons on our shuttles when she's around providing aerial bombardment!

Turian Havoc TrooperThe Turian Havoc Trooper brings aerial bombardment to Firebase Sandstorm. Raining Rozerad Siphon bullets on the Kett from high above, the Havoc Trooper is a tanky beast... as long as she's hovering! This run was fast and relatively easy, despite the Wave 5 downs and revives. Gameplay notes and build link: bit.ly/2AHPHHwThough I went down more than usual and used up all my first aid kits, this was a very smooth and easy run. This Turian gets so much damage reduction airborne that she can hover for long periods of time and tank the enemies, provided She continues to dispatch targets quickly with a powerful Siphon weapon like the Rozerad. If you have them, other good Siphon guns to use are the Revenant, Cyclone, Hurricane or Soned. I was able to unload on the Behemoth during the Boss objective. When fighting the Kett, watch out for the Ascendant’s orb and palm blast, which can take your shields and health down quickly. In that event, your Siphon weapons might not be able to return your health in time when Anointed, Destined, and Chosen are aiming back at you. Same thing with Outlaws and those blasted Sharpshooters and Saboteurs.

Krogan EngineerThis Krogan Engineer thought that she would have to use her powerful Shorty X to defeat the Kett, but it was her Sovoa Siphon I that handled everything! Very effective against bunched up enemies with its AOE damage, the Sovoa could also take out the Ascendant’s Orb even when it was not directly facing our Krogan. Assault Turret added to her overall DPS and drew aggro, Overload for stunning and triggering fire explosions, and Detonating Incinerate to trigger tech explosions rounded out her game. Gameplay notes and build link: bit.ly/2z20wrESurprisingly easy run with the Krogan engineer. Elemental Tech Rank 6A gave me a 35% boost in weapon damage to targets affected by Overload and Incinerate. The Assault Turret stayed alive longer than I expected and drew a proper amount of aggro from Wraiths and other enemies that got too close to me. I didn’t find the Sovoa to prime very well with incendiary ammo. Is it bugged or working as intended? Still, I was pleasantly surprised by the gun, which has gotten a bad rap on the forums. A Siphon variant of it doesn’t hurt either! By going only three ranks in Rage, I had to be a little careful out in the open, but the run turned out okay. It helped that the objectives were the easy Devices and Retrieval.

Human EngineerUnlike the Human Artificer, this Human Engineer specced into Snap Freeze. "I like making giant ice explosions," she told the Artificer. With her Rozerad and Valkyrie Siphon, the Kett got a taste of this ice queen’s wrath on Firebase Sandstorm. And the Fiend didn’t know what hit it when it was shattered by a 7-combo Snap Freeze explosion on Wave 5. Gameplay notes and build link: bit.ly/2hu3TwvAnother smooth and easy run with the easy objectives of devices or retrieval. This was a Snap Freeze build, and I tried to get as many chained cryo explosions as possible. Check out the action on Wave 5 where I killed several enemies, including a Fiend, with a seven chain Snap Freeze explosion. Overload was kept at just one Rank for its stunning ability. Specced into Shield Reset instead of Tech Sabotage to bring my shields online faster. Like with the Krogan Engineer, the Turret drew aggro and helped to debuff enemies.

Turian Agent with Double SandstormsThe Turian Agent brought his Recon Visor and dual Sandstorm assault rifles with him to Firebase Sandstorm. A Siphon for health regeneration and the Concussive for Biotic Explosions. Cloak to make the objectives trivial. Hack was a little tough for this Turian Agent, as he didn’t have a secondary weapon that fired fast when enemies were rushing into the Hack circle. Gamplay notes and build link: bit.ly/2zDukuoWanted to try a headshot build so I used the Sandstorm. To get the extra 20% duration bonus in Rank 6B Munitions Training, I gave up an extra 10% weapon damage bonus. That would have been enough to reduce the number of headshots by one, which would have allowed the Sandstorm Concussive to make more frequent Biotic explosions. A fast-firing weapon would have helped immensely during the Wave 3 Hack. Still trying to find a good build for this guy. Might try using something like the Soned to spray bullets through cover against enemies. Or try a melee infiltrator build with Escape Artist.

Turian Agent with Kishock and Black WidowThe Turian Agent wasn’t satisfied with his performance on Firebase Sandstorm wielding two Sandstorms, so he returned with a Kishock Harpoon Gun Siphon I and a Black Widow X. He got easier objectives but took a little longer to complete the mission. He needs to hone his aiming skills, but it's hard when those Kett move so fast! Gameplay notes and build link: bit.ly/2AJ5ruTThese sniper rifles pack a punch, but you have to be accurate and patient. Missing and having to reload can cost you, especially with those Wraiths breathing down your neck! Like with the dual Sandstorm build, I should probably re-spec into Rank 6A Weapon Specialist in APEX Training for that extra 10% weapon damage boost. There were times when the Kishock or the Black Widow left a smidgen of health in the Kett.

Nice Kandros. I enjoy these threads. Don't let the haters get you down. Keep the positive vibes flowing! Thanks! There’s just 10 more to go to complete all of the characters. Just finished an aggressive Asari Adept run featuring Shield Powered Lance, Draining Field and Active Barrier.

Congrats. IMO Agent is better at close range. Equip shorty, stay close, spray enemies with flamer when you sorrounded and keep shoting. You can always reposition with cloack if necessary.

Watching these videos has motivated me to try your builds. I really like the Agent build; my original build sucked, and I never could figure out a good DPS build. Also like the Kroganeer; he's a boss, and doesn't need any additional melee!
On a related note, your commentary is great. Thanks for all of this!

Once I finish the remaining 10 characters, I’ll look into doing some solos with alternate builds (i.e. Asari Adept focused on Throw instead of Shield-Powered Lance, a Flamethrower Turian Agent, or a camping Pull and Kett focused Gladiator). I just finished an Asari Sentinel match on Sandstorm against Outlaws. There’s a reason why I prefer fighting the Kett over Outlaws and Remnant. I really dislike grabbing Adhis, 100% accuracy Sharpshooters, Energy Draining Saboteurs, and Observers.
