Kandros here with a report from the Angaran water-processing plant we call Firebase Aqua. A week ago, I sent a lone Angara Insurgent, Trap-yal, there to run diagnostics on the automated defense systems. We had thought that the base was not known to the Archon forces, but that mole inside the Andromeda Initiative continues to vex us with his (or her) surreptitious ways. The Kett soon attempted a hostile takeover of the facility to provide needed water for their troops.
Though our Insurgent is Angaran, he had never visited Aqua and was quite unfamiliar with its layout. This led to a frenzied and more difficult than expected defense of the Firebase. Fortunately, his EMP Trip Mines and Shield Boost gave him those precious moments he needed to escape from the barrage of the Anointed’s Soned and the biting of ravenous Wraiths. Originally, I was going to send our Salarian Architect to Aqua, and I wonder how he would have fared during the two objectives. The Architect’s Electric Barricade would have been useful during for both Upload and Retrieval, but his lack of shield-restoring abilities would have left him more vulnerable. I say this not to diminish our Angara’s valiance; I simply want to ask the question how other members of our APEX team would have fared given the same circumstances.
Trap-yal insisted on bringing Angara weaponry with him to Aqua. A Sovoa Siphon allowed him to shoot blindly from cover and still damage enemies. His Ushior Siphon packed a powerful punch but could really use additional ammo reserves.

First off, I really wished that I got the daytime version of Aqua. The moonlit version is pretty, but I find it harder to navigate and see the enemies.
For the first two waves, I just camped by the landing pad. I set up my Trip Mines for the Wraiths and any Chosen, Destined, or Anointed that approached my location.
The Wave 3 Upload objective was tougher than I anticipated. Had to expend all of my ammo packs in order to spam my EMP Trip Mines (and reload the Sovoa) to prevent anything from getting into the circles. It would have been easier had I killed the Ascendant quickly. I left him with a sliver of health, and it cost me additional ammo packs and first aid kits to get through the wave.
Instead of the Warfighter Package, I probably should have gone with the Grenade Capacity gear to increase my grenade count from 8 to 11. That might have left me with a few more ammo packs in the later waves. Or I could have maxed out on Combat Power Amp to dispatch those enemies who tripped my mines more quickly. Since I was fighting the Kett, I could have opted for Offensive Tech 5A Anti-Shield instead of Anti-Armor.
One point in Assault Turret was useful in drawing limited aggro away from me. I don’t know what I would sacrifice if I wanted to raise it to Rank 6 on the Insurgent.
For Waves 4 and 5, I rotated between the landing pad and the hill in the back of the map. I relied heavily on Shield Boost, Evasion, and Bioelectric Ward to avoid getting mowed down by the Anointed’s Soned assault rifle.
Wave 6 objective was fortunately Retrieval. The third and fourth packages were especially tough, since they were both right by the LZ.
For extraction, I started in the back of the map and slowly made my way to the landing pad. I then hightailed it to the back of the map before jumping up onto the roof for a leisurely stroll back to the LZ for a full extraction.
