My Asari Sentinel went hunting with her Kishock Harpoon Gun Siphon and Backlash in this lengthy, yet careful and deliberate Platinum Solo against the Kett on Firebase Sandstorm.
Objectives were Retrieval, Devices, and Retrieval.

After a number of failed attempts with the Krogan Gladiator and Krogan Engineer as a result of Observers shooting me in the back, I decided to give those hated Remnant enemies a taste of their own medicine with the Asari Sentinel.
Survivability
Though the game took a long time, it didn’t feel like it and was quite exciting. I took things very carefully, since the Asari Sentinel is very squishy once her shields drop. So, the important thing for me was to make sure Backlash and Energy Drain remained available at a moment’s notice. Instead of speccing into my usual Reflection 5B, I chose Durability 4A and 5B so she could tank more frontal damage. I chose Energy Drain 5A Extended Drain so I could get some Tech Combo Detonations with Throw. This ED spec also recovered 95% of my shields and provided a small Shield Boost of 24% over 4 seconds. The Sentinel only has 315 shields, so every extra bit of shield restore helps. counts.
In a failed attempt, I experimented with Backlash 6A Shield Resurgence, but didn’t find it was helping my survivability all that much. So, I spent another 15 Mission Funds on a respec card to this build.
The Stronghold Package has great synergy with Tech Armor Shield Feedback 6A, allowing her shields to recharge at 120% their normal speed (110/second compared to 50/s base or 75/s with just TA 6A).
All in all, the Asari Sentinel impressed me with her great survivability in this Platinum match. I found myself in far fewer difficult situations than with the other characters I’ve soloed Platinum with.
Weapons and Powers
I went with Offensive Biotics 5A Weapons and Melee (10% weapon boost) instead of Combo Detonations since I was primarily using the Kishock Harpoon Gun to take out enemies from distance. I wanted to stack as much damage as possible with the Kishock so I equipped a Sniper Rifle Amp IV (40%) and a Universal Power Amp IV (20%). With this setup, I could take out an Ascendant’s Orb in one shot. I could also take out most other enemies with one carefully aimed weak point shot. In the game, however, things routinely got frantic so I frequently had to resort to body shots.
I chose Biotic Warrior 6B for even more extra weapon damage (15%) after quickly raising Backlash and also to knockdown unshielded enemies. Up until these solos, I rarely used the knockdown ability, and I found it be to quite useful. For instance, if I was between reloads with the Kishock and a Wraith or two were jumping on me, I could bring up Backlash and immediately melee them to disable them. I could then reload my Kishock and eliminate them with a hipfire shot.
For the other enemies, I would try to use Energy Drain followed by Throw to stun them long enough for me to Kishock them. I barely used the Rozerad during the match. I wanted high burst damage instead of exposing myself from behind cover to fire with the Rozerad.
Objectives
Thankfully, I got great objectives. Clearing Wave 2 after delivering the Pizzas felt like it took forever because of the pressure put forth by the double Ascendants, Saboteurs, Anointed and Destined.
This run would have been a no-death run but the Fiend cornered and grabbed me just after I disabled the first device on Wave 4. I hate having to go to the little rooms because I know the Fiend or an Ascendant will be camping there! Getting downed by the Fiend left me with little time to get to the second device, and I was fortunate to disable it with one second left on the clock.
Wave 5 was the longest, but I felt very in control since I didn’t have to worry about any Ascendants on the field, just the Blaze Hydra (and its powerful cannon) and the two Observers.
I was so thankful when Retrieval came up on Wave 6. I would have been really sad had it been Hack, Upload, or even Boss. Finally, extraction was a little dicey, and I had to pop a couple of First Aid Kits because I was determined not to go down for the rest of the match.
One more non-stealth character has soloed Platinum! Who’s next?
Please enjoy!
