Here’s the first Platinum Solo with the Krogan Engineer. Her great power/combo synergy was offset by her plodding movement and measly shields. Fortunately her Rank 6B Flamethrower Assault Turret functioned as an extra teammate that distracted enemies and provided anti-armor and crowd-control capabilities. Objectives: Boss, Devices, and Devices Note: This mission had the Empty Resupply mission modifier for 800% more ammo for the Krogan’s dual Rozerads. Gamplay notes and build link: goo.gl/X7H8QB* Overload: 1 point * Assault Turret: 4B 5B 6B * Incinerate: 4B 5B 6A * Offensive Tech: 4B 4B 6A * Rage: 4A 5A 6A * Rozerad Siphon V * Rozerad Concussive I * Pistol Rail Amp III * Disruptor Ammo II * Multicapacitor The Krogan Engineer and the Human Engineer from Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer have similar power sets. They both have Overload and Incinerate; in place of the Human Engineer’s roving Combat Drone, the Krogan Engineer has a stationary Assault Turret. Compared with her Krogan Mercenary and Gladiator colleagues Andromeda, she has measly shields and is not very fast. And, unlike the Krogan Vanguard, she doesn’t have a way to quickly recharge her shields. All this means, she goes down very quickly in open space. This is why I specced into Assault Turret 4B Recharge. The turret doesn’t last long in Platinum, but with a cooldown of just 10 seconds (instead of 30 seconds), you can have it up almost indefinitely throughout the match. Like with the Remnant VI in my Human Artificer Platinum Solo, the Assault Turret is what kept the Krogan Engineer alive during the match. It drew plenty of enemy fire, allowing her to reposition safely. Combo detonations were the key to upping her DPS during the match. Disruptor ammo could be detonated by either Overload and Incinerate, and the result electrical field stunned any enemy that might otherwise rush my position. Fire explosions from detonating Incinerate made quick work of armored targets, including the Behemoth. Dual Rozerads allowed me to engage targets at all ranges. Finally, Offensive Tech 6A Elemental Tech dramatically boosted my weapon damage on primed targets. This power and weapon synergy allowed me to take out the Behemoth Boss on Wave 2 relatively easily (though I did expend a lot of my First Aid Packs on that objective).

I'd LIKE to be good with the KroGineer (because, as you say, it is a lot like the HEngie from ME3), but I have this terrible terrible habit of headbutting things with her, I just can't stop, even Hydras and Fiends, it's like an irresistable compulsion to drive my skull-plate through them and pound them into the ground. Which is strange, because I never really got into melee in ME3 (even with Krogan).

Which is strange, because I never really got into melee in ME3 (even with Krogan). Yes, Krogan headbutts can be very satisfying (esp. when you can get rid of multiple enemies with a single headbutt); but it's so situational in this game when the enemies can down you mid-melee. Since I still have the Kineticist bug (where she can't get into Ascension mode), I've been trying to solo with the Krogan Vanguard. I have used up several respec cards trying to find a good skillset. Though he has Fortify for damage reduction, his base shields are even measlier than the Engineer; plus, Fortify makes him slow. Without a pet like the Assault Turret, he has to use Charge both offensively and defensively. I think it's going to be a toss-up as to which character -- the Human Vanguard or Krogan Vanguard -- is going to be the hardest (for me). I think the Human Vanguard is going to win; he has no DR except when charging. Might have to play the Human while stuck to cover. Let the enemies come close. Nova, Charge/Shockwave, run away and repeat.
