Ok scratch that as Vampyr is listed as action rpg. Maybe they could pull it off but I still trust in Bioware to handle ME. If I recall, Vampyr was, uh ... interesting. In a Bound By Flame kind of way. I shouldn't complain, though. I liked Bound By Flame.

Also Remember Me, Vampyr, and currently Twin Mirror in development. I'll admit they have good storytelling abilities from what I've seen ( haven't played any of their games) but not sure they could do ME as they haven't done rpg games. Ok scratch that as Vampyr is listed as action rpg. Maybe they could pull it off but I still trust in Bioware to handle ME. I understand your reluctance... Technically they're still too small to handle Mass Effect, probably. But I really dig their stories and their attention to detail. Their games still have soul/passion. They don't come over as yet another cash grab, which is what BioWare currently feels like to me. Andromeda didn't feel like that honestly, but Anthem definitely did. You should really try one of their games. Another one that might be up to it might be PlatinumGames, but I'm not sure Asian developers will be able to really do the western RPG style justice. WRPGs and JRPGs are after all completely different genres. I'd say Bethesda is also a contender, but that would be for exploration only. Their stories suck. And then there's CD Projekt Red. At this point everyone trusts them, but I say, if they succeed well with Cyberpunk 2077, they might be up to the task for Mass Effect.

if they succeed well with Cyberpunk 2077, they might be up to the task for Mass Effect. I don't like CDPR's style of story telling, but I really like their overall work as a studio. Same as Larian. But if they deliver with Cyberpunk, I think they'd be more than equipped to handle ME. Too bad they'd never be assigned the franchise. Oh great. As if the post ME3 ending depression I had wouldn't have been enough. Now I'd get double depression. But I really like Vanquish, Bayonetta, NiER, NiER: Automata and I am looking forward to ... Babylon's Fall. That's no longer a thing, isn't it?

It's not the best but it usually works. I agree they would need some tighter writing for ME. CDPR is good but their storytelling so far is very adult. Not sure we'd want that for ME. They've stated Cyberpunk will have sex and nudity which is fine and I'm not against that in ME as I liked that Andromeda did that. Just not sure they could do ME. We'll see how they handle Cyberpunk.

Discussing probabilities is silly; they will turn out whichever way is convenient for the desired narrative. One can dream, right? That's all we have right now, or to play other games. If Mass Effect ever gets sold, I'd want Dontnod Entertainment (the makers of Life Is Strange) to do something with the franchise. Oh,discuss away. I'm reading it, ain't I? I was just pointing out that talking about probabilities is a category mistake. Narratives are written, not generated by stats. At least, with current technology.

As for now, CDPR took the handle of two franchises. In one case, they worked with the original author and he voiced his admiration for how they expanded and improved the universe. In the other, the fan consensus is that they failed hard at conforming to the old lore and the original author has no respect for their work.
The former is yet to be released though.

He regrets selling it to them but there's no denying the games are loved.

Yeah back when the Witcher 1 was out only maybe 2 books were translated. Now they all are.

He did not believe that it will work out, sold them the rights for something around an annual worker salary (while they proposed a percent of the profits XD) and now that it did work out, he drags them into courts demanding 60 mln PLN (~15 mln USD).

What's his case? They shouldn't have let him make that deal? They could and they did, though the Polish law has a regulation saying that "in the case of a glaring disproportion between the creator's compensation and the proftis of the acquirer of copyright or license, the creator can demand an adequate compensation increase by the court", which allows Sapkowski to go to the court with it. Now I checked the news and they settled it amicably, though it's not said how much he got and it's for sure less than 60 mln.

Sounds like that doesn't matter under this law. Interesting law. IIRC unconscionability does some of the same stuff under standard contract law, but that principle doesn't react to changed circumstances. I.e., there's nothing wrong with a contract giving CDPR all of the upside if the Witcher games really take off, as long as the terms at the moment the contract was signed were fair.

They also stayed pretty true to geralt from the books. If they really gave him that option and he refused he has noone to blame but himself.

The same can be said about you still b*tching about Cerberus
Well, they contribute nothing meaningful to the plot as set up in ME1 (stop the Reapers) and poke holes into it instead, all the while undermining roleplay They also have no redeemable qualities whatsoever. Their motivations switches around between "We are racist! Why? Because we are!", "Let's kill as many of our own scientists as possible!" and "Let's kill cvilians, TROLOLOL!". They can pull anything out of their ass as the plot demands and have a bad case of Mary Sue/"The writer favours us". In contrast to that, Liara's just a single individual with obsession issues, and very few ways to ass-pull fleets. And for the record, I don't like her ME2/ME3 characterisation too much. Yet another sawggering hardass. Not very interesting, ME2 has enough of that already. I prefer her socially inept, nerdy ME version.
Anyway, I just cannot imagine what people might genuinely like about Cerberus.
In ME2 Cerberus can read and/or interpreted as a right-wing libertarian and/or conservative group, lead by a rich guy running things (badly) and not caring how many people (humans or aliens) get hurt in the process to get things done in their own way without of the rules, regulations, bureaucracy, and most importantly the morality that groups like the Alliance and the Council would put on them and their anti-alien stance is to make them more like KKK, Neo-Nazis, and other white supremacy groups.
In ME3 they're just a group a mind controlled idiots showing where right-wing libertarian and conservationism always leads too.

With DA4 being speculated to come out fall 2022 (see DA4 forum), how do you guys feel about a release of ME5 ? Personally I don't think I can wait 2025-2027 for it. That franchise, although my favorite with the Witcher, will be long gone in my mind (maybe not my heart) I'm really counting on AA devs (Spiders, Obsidian, ...) to feel the gap Good thing CP77 sounds promising too
