I had originally thought there were just two characters left that had not had a Platinum Solo video done yet, the Krogan Vanguard and Human Vanguard, but I was wrong. Here’s the Asari Adept’s turn on the center stage.
Objectives: Retrieval / Retrieval / Devices
Gameplay notes and build: goo.gl/ZQPsPS
The evolution of the Asari Adept
When Mass Effect Andromeda first came out, some of the most powerful and effective Gold builds involved either the Vanquisher sniper rifle or melee. With the latter, many people were using the Asari Adept to punch their way to success on Gold. Check out some of her differences then and now:
Patch 1.06 introduced many of the changes above and caused people’s Asari Adept playstyle to change. No longer could you just rush in and punch things to death. Instead, they rushed in and combo detonated things to death, especially after [Patch 1.09 when Veteran Bonuses were added](http://blog.bioware.com/2017/07/04/mass-effect-andromeda-patch-1-09-notes/). This power was offset by the fact that she had the third lowest base shields in the game (next to the Batarian and Krogan Vanguards), making her quite the glass cannon. This is extremely evident today on Platinum, where enemies are much hardier. If the Asari Adept didn’t kill what was in her Annihilation Field, she was not going to survive very long out in the open.
Powers
Unlike my Gold Solo, this Asari Adept did not spec into Shield-Powered Lance; Platinum enemies did a good enough job dropping my shields in one burst for me to help them any more! Throw was specced for an extra 30% more combo damage with 6B Swift Detonation. 6A Double Throw could also have been a viable option, especially when multiple enemies were in Annihilation Field range.
Basic gameplay was to set things on fire from distance and detonate for a fire explosion. Since I had already stripped their shields and some health, the resulting combo was usually enough to kill the target and severely damage those around it. If not, the Rozerad would finish them off. On occasion, I would alternatively rush into Annihilation Field range and perform a Biotic combo. This was actually very dangerous since I would often have to leave cover to get close to the enemy. The other enemies on the map could then drop me in seconds
Like with the Batarian Vanguard and Krogan Gladiator, I prefer Vortex to Draining Field so I can neutralize Wraiths (Wave 1 and 2), Destined, Anointed, Sharpshooters (Wave 6) and Observers (Waves 3, 5, and 7) who got too close to me in the match. I suppose Draining Field could also work, but I had Multicapacitor equipped to bring my shields online quickly while in cover or repositioning.
Saving Barrier was critical to surviving this match. I can’t count the number of times it kicked in to save me from certain doom. She also gets 100 DR from evading so I was constantly dashing through the map.
Weapons
Once again, the Rozerad was my primary weapon after Wave 1. For that initial wave, I used the Venom Siphon shotgun. In close quarters like Building 8, the Venom’s charged shot deals a lot of damage across a sizeable radius. It also primed decently well. If I could have forced the enemies inside the buildings in the later waves, I would have used the Venom more. While it lacks the utter awesomeness of its ME3MP counterpart, it is still decent in Andromeda.
Objectives
Good set of objectives in this run. A few failed runs had Boss, and that objective is very doable with the Asari Adept when equipped with incendiary ammo. Just be sure to isolate that Behemoth; the Asari Adept can’t tank like a Human Juggernaut!
I can see a Wave 2 Hack being doable given a good location since she can push away and temporarily neutralize Wraiths and Ascendants with Throw. I am still waiting for that one Platinum Solo run where I can pull off a Wave 2 Hack and get the easier objectives for 4 and 6.
Please enjoy!
